lot of hacked accounts lately...lots.

I think the person that cracked this board before has just started to decipher the data he pulled somehow.

when i got a message saying the board may have been cracked and some characters of your pass my be known I thought probably more of a precaution and not worth worrying over.

Now though I can only imagine that is how my account got taken over.

I don't use that password anywhere else and not a keylogger since nothing else was effected.

My account was hijacked starting on the 26th until this morning when I took over. Whoever it was attempted to make BTC trades on the forum and posted about scams.

I'm letting you all know so my reputation in these forums isn't tarnished.
Let's hope this doesn't happen again. Man I wish I could find out who did this...
you was lucky you got your account back and it wasn't used for scam or sold, for security of your account never use your bitcointalk login details of any other website

cant you just reach the mod or admin?

and then the problem of continued hack or possible scam resolves all together. its better to let a mod or admin know then just let it happen on-going.

Should be easy to prove

How is proving an account was hacked "easy" in any way? IP logs are not considered (nor checked, I believe), and the owner could easily pretend to be hacked and then sign an address to say he wasn't.

The reason why I'm pretty doubtful that he got hacked in the first place is that a hacker would (normally) use the account in more profitable ways than to voice a petty opinion in a matter that won't even matter in a couple of years. Selling the account is a common thing that happens; profitable, quick, and easy.

No!!!
This does not help me at all that a hacked account agreed with my point of view. Grin

Should be easy to prove, but I am suspicious as well of the timing. Good luck.

Yeah I'm skeptical too.  OP, did you do anything stupid like type in your password someplace where you shouldn't have?   You voiced a pretty bold opinion against mexxer and it would be very convenient for you to get hacked.

Well then account hacking just to get scores with me and trying to scam someone at the same time, thats just coincidental.

Also to verify that you are the actual owner as you say, can you sign a message from an address posted more than 3 months ago?

Edit: Nothing personal but your story seems pretty unlikely to me
