I am looking to invest in a 1/2 dozen promising alt coins before the upcoming fork on the 16th.
I have a sneaky suspicion btc is in for a bigger correction that most folk think.
If this happens do you think it could have a negative impact on the whole crypto market and thus negatively
affect the expected alt pop.
Thx

I do the same. Selling my bitcoins and buying  altcoins. But I want, in the end, win more bitcoins. I buy Ripple, Ethereum, Dash, Dogecoin and Decred. I dont know if this is the best move. I'm just a begginer. Good Luck.

I tend to agree with you even if it is a pretty risky move.
What altcoins to you plan to buy? In the top 20 or those with a low market cap?

If bitcoin crashes then alts will have to go up higher than bitcoin is falling and that is highly unlikely.

Lol you must be new here. If Bitcoin crashes, EVERY SINGLE ALT COIN WILL CRASH WITH IT. Bitcoin controls the markets. The only reason ANY alt coins have value right now is because Bitcoin was there propping them up.

Yes there is but the opposite or the positive impact in which in favor of altcoins that if the bitcoin value will fall down in a huge amount from todays value. If this happen more holders will sell their bitcoins and buy altcoins but even if bitcoin will continue to rise during the segwit2x still i believe many small investors will going to shift to altcoins because of cheaper value to start. Eth will most benefits of this shifting events because it is the most promising of all altcoins.

Go for it, just choose coins like ETH, LTC, XRP and XEM to name a few. Once this bitcoin pump burst traders will go back trading once again in the altcoin section. Its just irresistible not to go to bitcoin now because of the anticipation of Segwit2x. But once is done, those altcoins traders will dump it and go back to altcoin. So better get altcoins today when they are really in dip and this is the perfect opportunity to get them while they are very cheap and at a discount price. I already made my moved a few days ago and continue to buy in dips.

You should do the opposite like the rest of us(technically not me, I'm just a beggar low life with $0 savings) would you sell your Bitcoins $7000 if you bought at $7500? none of the buyers would sell with a loss, that means even after the Segwit2X fork, price will not dump. why would any body accumulate alt coins when Bitcoin price is hitting a new ATH every hour? imagine that you'd buy $10,000 of some shitcoin at $0.2 and by the time of Bitcoin new hard fork, Bitcoin price has already gone up and over $9000. those of us holding bags of alt coins will lose $1500 on each BTC and more than $2000 per B2X.

Wrong calculation bro. Altcoins typically fall when BTC falls. The safest thing to do is to convert to fiat. If you don't want to convert to fiat you could convert to a more stable Cryotocurrency like USD Tether (USDT).
By the way, I don't see Bitcoin falling if SegWit2x ends up receiving little support.

If you are holding ico's tokens or just tokens that has been released lately, you are probably going to lose a lot of money because all of them will go down until this fork happens.
If you really want to keep holding coins, then try to just hold the most solid ones, like ethereum, monero, litecoin, and those who are below the top five.
the other coins are very risky, and they dont diserve to have your attention at all.

If there is a big correction like you suggest then there is certainly a chance it could hurt alts as a lot of money could flow away from the market, I don't see it happening however and expect enough to flow in to alts for it to work out well for you.

That will be a very risky move. I don't really think altcoins will survive if Bitcoin crashes.
The wise move would be staying in fiat until all this storms and hurricane finish.

They all are dropping a lot because sg2x fork is comming, i would not suggest you to hold those coins because nobody knows what is going to happen with altcoins once that the fork is done.. If you look at the charts, you would realize that altcoins tends to rise once that every fork is done, but this one will be completely different, we dont know anything about this new coin.
Why dont you dump them and buy more bitcoins?

I think it's a good move, I agree with you. Bitcoin correction against dollar is something, but a lot of people don't care and are here for long term investment. So there will be a lot of bitcoins getting back to akt. My two cents.
