I want to modify this question.  Anyone answer this?

How many people are actually using Bitcoin? ( Those who aren't merely using it as investment) ( those who are using it to make payments, purchase goods ,etc.)

I don't think anybody can say about it. Everyone can use more than 1 wallet for transactions and lot of people do this, using a specific wallet for a specific use. Not long ago a guy promoting the scam Onecoin was bragging Bitcoin has only 300k users. I was near to fail from my chair, i found it very funny

He is in fact more or less correct in his estimation

The basis for this figure is the number of transactions processed by the Bitcoin network daily. It oscillates between 200k and 300k transactions, and it is assumed the number of active Bitcoin users is somewhere between 300k and 500k. What is considered as an active Bitcoin user everyone decides for themselves, but this of course doesn't make the coin that the dude has been promoting less scammy (if it really is, in the first place)

I don't think that estimation is necessarily bad either. 300,000 to 500,000 people all coming together to use this alternative currency with the help or guidance of no government or single corporation. It's pretty amazing to me when you really think about it.

Blockchain host over 10 millions wallets there. If you search for the top 100 richest bitcoin addresses you will find over 15 millions wallets own between 0 to 100 BTC

These data are not representative since users can have an unlimited number of wallets

I don't think there is an accurate way of counting as to how many people use Bitcoin other than a compulsory survey. You take a global survey and ask each and every person in the world if they use or know bitcoin.

I think, the survey can not count the number of users bitcoin. Because we know the surveys are boring thing and some people if meets survey they would tend to avoid it. And I think the survey is not an appropriate thing to know about it.

I think the number of users bitcoin could never be calculated precisely, if bitcoin itself still can not be accepted by the government. because help government with data collection, the number of users bitcoin can be done.
Thank you
Bitcoin was made for people to use it  anonymously and surveys will be highly dreaded by many people but I might estimate bitcoin users to be approximately 5 million out of the 7.5 Billion (world population) with china having the most users.
I think that there are more than 10 millions people using Bitcoin at the moment. However, as you say, we can never calculate the exact number since Bitcoin are anonymous and it protect all of the information come form the users. Therefore, estimating the number of Bitcoin users is the impossible job
The estimate you guys making are very nice. Doing some estimate will keep us inform that the economy of bitcoin is growing. We can be more bigger as this adoption will continue, doesn't need to have the actual users, as long as we see the number of bitcoin addresses increasing, it is already a valid reason for us to stay here and consider bitcoin as long term investment.

Its really hard to determine the exact number of people using bitcoins as majority of them have multiple wallets with multiple bitcoin addresses so it would be really impossible to know how many exact number of people are using bitcoin and we cannot trust the data over the web as it will be surely an inaccurate one.
In that case as the title does not say the exact number you can give an approximate figure, How about a half million?

it is really hard to determine the current number of bitcoin users. it could only happen that we can calculate the users by the time when the government uses the bitcoin also. as it will implement the one user one bitcoin wallet. for security matters. by that we can only transact with one bitcoin wallet and it can also eliminate illegal transactions. so one bitcoin wallet per person can actually count how many bitcoin users are there.

It could be possible to determine the number of bitcoin addresses used but for the number of people using bitcoin, it could be hard. There are people using a number of bitcoin addresses so an estimate could be done.

It true, But it takes time before they trace the exact amount number of people. The only basis here that they can track out is the history record in the blockchain, But like what I said, it will be hard to know the count of users in the entire world, bu if only the addresses that is truly achievable.

that's right, it could be possible for us or for someone to determine the number of bitcoin addresses but its number could not be exactly the same number as the bitcoin users . many people are using different storage so it's really hard and it appears to be impossible to determine the actual number of people who are using bitcoin because in this community we don't have an accurate statistics which will count the population of users.

There is no method that can calculate in detail, the same thing also happens in FIAT currency. We can only calculate average user with sampling techniques, instead of tracking transaction evidence, but through correspondence from members of various businesses involving bitcoin (mining, trade, gambling, betting, etc).
We will find a reasonable percentage & can be used as a reference. Unfortunately, there is no institution that examines bitcoin users.
We analyze it using our own method, and that effort is made because we are after of our investment in the future. Bitcoin cannot be determine in terms of users but we need to know if this asset will progress so we can be convince that risking our investment is worth.
I am sure it is just a guess, most likely is. We all know that anonymous bitcoin, to date there has not been a proven way to accurately count the number of users. I think this is not a problem, because the most important thing is bitcoin profitable.
yeah you right no one ever knew what specific number who using Bitcoin till now,but at least it was quite interesting to know , I think there are companies that conduct surveys for number of people using bitcoin in the world.

It is hard or may be impossible to determine the actual number of bitcoin users because many users have multiple addresses and bitcointalk accounts. However may be in future it can happen by accessing the users' mobile numbers from their wallets, but chances are low that it will happen.
That's the thing, it's really hard to determine the total users because we are not like banks where we are required to comply with the KYC Policy. Anytime, we can create a wallet and just simply live it here and the next day create again. I guess it is more on checking the trend to analyze how many users of bitcoin we have and I think it is vital for our future decision making.

You can have an idea if you can understand the number of users in a particular exchange and the trading volume but you can never find the exact number of people and who really cares about figuring out the exact number of people using bitcoin. Tongue

Who will prefer to waste their time in knowing how many users are using bitcoins instead everyone will invest that time in collecting bitcoins to a maximum extent but looking at the growth and volume of bitcoins one thing is sure that the users of bitcoins are increasing on a daily basis which is the best news for bitcoin community.

That's right. Every day the number of wallets is increasing for different reasons - some new users are coming or some user decided to create a new wallet to share his coins between wallets on different sites to feel more safe. But the fact is clear - bitcoin get popular more and more day by day.
