Its really hard to determine the exact number of people using bitcoins as majority of them have multiple wallets with multiple bitcoin addresses so it would be really impossible to know how many exact number of people are using bitcoin and we cannot trust the data over the web as it will be surely an inaccurate one.

It could be possible to determine the number of bitcoin addresses used but for the number of people using bitcoin, it could be hard. There are people using a number of bitcoin addresses so an estimate could be done.

It true, But it takes time before they trace the exact amount number of people. The only basis here that they can track out is the history record in the blockchain, But like what I said, it will be hard to know the count of users in the entire world, bu if only the addresses that is truly achievable.

whats the reason for you to find out about those people who uses bitcoin upto this date. by answering your questions you can have a research about the wallets that had created, but you can have that exact amount that you expected. if you would want to know to nearest answer or the near to accurate answer you can hire a proffesionals to do that job. statistics proffesionals can do that job but just give them a little time to complete that job.
Professionals in the field of statistics certainly have techniques that can improve the accuracy of results, but the fact that many users are anonymous will bring inaccuracy in the results. I think that for this to be resolved it would be necessary to use a system that collects data and at the same time allows users to remain anonymous.
With techniques making an accurate strategy is possible if bitcoin is used for limited purposes. Now with bitcoin the scenario is different, its been used for varied needs. So one cannot exactly make a number of users. As it is decentralized the single data gets added in different name as anyone can use any identity, which is not possible with a centralized system.

You can't collect a legit data without letting other people remain anonymous. How can you know that somebody is not messing up with your records if everyone is anonymously putting details on your database? Remember that there are people that have no life so they just destroy things on the Internet to feel some sort of satisfaction in themselves. There's just simply no other way to know the number of people using bitcoin except for having to verify their bitcoin wallet, maybe in blockchain or whatever. But we all know that we can't do that since we're all about anonymity.

I think, the survey can not count the number of users bitcoin. Because we know the surveys are boring thing and some people if meets survey they would tend to avoid it. And I think the survey is not an appropriate thing to know about it.

These surveys wouldn't be successful because people wouldn't do effort to participate. Would it be beneficial to them? No. Unless this survey would beneficial or they're forced to take this survey, they wouldn't take it.

I think the number of users bitcoin could never be calculated precisely, if bitcoin itself still can not be accepted by the government. because help government with data collection, the number of users bitcoin can be done.
Thank you

I don't think that's likely to happen because of the very reason the government don't care about bitcoins. Maybe it's on their list of things that might affect them in the far future, but right now, they don't plan on accepting it or even recognizing it. There's no reason for them to help us with data collection even if they start accepting bitcoins.

The only way to know for reals if they did a world-wide census to know the exact number lol, seriously the problem is that the addresses can be made in any amount and not linked to real users details at all.
I guess the number of users would be few millions.

No one is willing to this either unless they are going to get paid for it. But still conducting a world wide census is still not going to be reliable as it requires a lot of time. And besides there are people who uses bitcoin that wants to make themselves remain anonymous as bitcoin does and doesn't want to let people know that they are into bitcoins.

as of this day we cannot determine the number of people who uses the bitcoin. But few years from now when the government accepts the fact the many people uses bitcoin, they might welcome the bitcoin as a legal currency but theres some conditions they might do. With that agreement the government can now trace all the users of bitcoin and now possible to know the numbers who uses it.

I will believe with the first statement on the second sentence that you had mentioned. There are countries that are willing to adopt bitcoin if they are going to find out that it is going to be helpful to their economy. But with the last sentence, I don't believe that it is going to be possible that they can trace all the users just because of that adoption.

I don't think there is an accurate way of counting as to how many people use Bitcoin other than a compulsory survey. You take a global survey and ask each and every person in the world if they use or know bitcoin.

Not you only but we all, this is because bitcoin is anonymous so it is difficult to find valid data. I think, bitcoin users no more than 5 percent and the remainder is in china.
You really are that confident that china is the biggest users of bitcoin, you just said and contradicting words about you cannot trace or find a valid data. How come you arrive that figure?

I think it is impossible to know the real actual number of people using Bitcoin. It would be possible to estimate the number of people using a web wallet if all websites were publishing datas like blockchain.info... But it will be still far from the reality as you can't know the number of wallets installed. With over 10 millions wallets on blockchain.info at least for sure, we are over 10 millions
yes we cannot even get  the information about bitcoin users from blockchain.info. because most of the people are using more than one wallet to store their bitcoin, they use different account for different purposes. for example i am using two wallet one is for the earning that come from signature campaign, and second one is which i used for trading alt coins. so other people may also have more than one wallet. therefor it is difficult to get information about the actual number of bitcoin users.

I dont think soo regarding on bitcoin been accepted by the government which is really an impossible thing to happen in the future.Bitcoin cant be controlled and think that this would not really happen to become a legal currency and government wont like to a thing that cant be controlled such as bitcoin. We cant determine really how many users of bitcoin at the current state.

Is there a way to determine the number of people who are actually using Bitcoin till date? Who would have access to such information? Meaning a way to find out, how many new people have used Bitcoin in 2016 , so that we can say exponential growth is natural not artificially created by hoarders.
there is no way to determine accurately the number of users bitcoin because the user or bitcoin payments can be made without personal information tied to the transaction.
you can see bitcoin transactions in blockchain.info

Add up the users of third party payment providers, and you'll have a very close approximation. Disregard the number of users using multiple such services, assuming that number quasi-equals the number of people using Bitcoin anonymously (or pseudo-anonymously). I'd say that the resulting number will be pretty damn close.

I don't think it is possible to have a close estimate of that. No matter what you do but you will always miss the numbers because we don't even know how many users are joining or leaving bitcoin everyday from all corners of the world. Not every single bitcoin user exposes themselves in the community so that they can be counted.

We can not get 100% result, but from this, we can get one approximate number. You are right daily how many people join bitcoin and how many are leaving bitcoin we don't have any source to find those details. And we cannot find based on BTC address single person can create an unlimited address. I hope those who use bitcoin they all active in this bitcoin forum if we count this forum registered members accounts we may get one approximate result.
