To measure the increase in Bitcoin users, it is best to compare Bitcoin in circulation within  a year with general price over the year.
It would be best! Other comparisons may not give clear picture
The price has no relation to the number of users as one person can hold a big number of bitcoins and has the ability to manipulate it.

I think already how many wallets are there, everyone knows. Even they are increasing. SO no one cannot tell exact number of users. As any one person can use multiple address. So its quite hard to get exact number of bitcoin user globally.

No one can determine the actual number of people using bitcoin, everyone can have more than 1 wallet, I heard that store bitcoin in many wallet can reduce the risk to be hack. Anyway the number is always increase becouse so many countries were accept bitcoin now.
I think it is important for bitcoin users continues to grow it will be very good for its own bitcoin. after all, no one can calculate the total bitcoin users precisely because bitcoin users also continues to grow

Actually it is not the reason find the number of the bitcoin users in the forum or globally, because most the people just creating multiple accounts in the forum. If you want to check globally. There is no proper information about bitcoin users in all the btc related sites. Everyone is completely packed with anonymity.

Even those wallet providers will don't have an accurate statistics on how many are their subscribers and users. And it is almost 9 years when bitcoin was launched and I don't know on how many are we already in the market. Yes, that's always the fact in bitcoin , the users are keep on increasing because it is becoming popular.

Is there a way to determine the number of people who are actually using Bitcoin till date? Who would have access to such information? Meaning a way to find out, how many new people have used Bitcoin in 2016 , so that we can say exponential growth is natural not artificially created by hoarders.
I think there is no way to determine this. there is nothing that can determine the actual growth accurately but i bet you there is increasing growth of people because of rising price.

You are correct dude!, because some of the member here actually they have multiple accounts and that's one of the reason why its hard to determine it   particularly bitcoin is decentralized.

I think a more realistic and accurate measurement would be bitcoin's market cap.

That has nothing to do with the number of people using Bitcoin. The Bitcoin market cap is actually the price of Bitcoin multiplied by the number of available Bitcoins. The number of people using Bitcoin cannot be estimated because most wallets are anonymous, or people used fake names/e-mails/phone numbers. That makes it impossible for now to estimate, or the number of people using it would be way higher than it actually is: Blockchain.info has over 11.000.000 wallets created, but for example I have more than 30 in total so you can't calculate it.

I know it has nothing to do with the number of people using bitcoin. What I meant was it may be a more realistic way to obtain information to then draw the same conclusions about bitcoin. If his goal from asking the number of people using bitcoin was to estimate it's growth for example, market cap might be a better way of doing so. Like you said, it's impossible to estimate based off the "number of people using bitcoin" so we must find some other ways of drawing similar conclusions about bitcoin.

I don't think that the market cap is any better in this respect

We don't even know how many bitcoins are now actively traded and how many of them are stashed away for better days. In this way, even the very value of the market cap as a product of multiplication of the Bitcoin price by the number of coins is misleading since we can't possibly tell how many coins actually make this market cap. Anyway, the price itself would be a more meaningful indicator of what you meant to say, reliable as a Swiss watch and simple as ABC at that

True.

You can't really tell how many but you could just estimate. It's all about that like the human population, it's hard to say the actual number. You can't count your hair but you could estimate. It increases everyday for sure, some maybe just use it for business but not always being used.
Well not really, it is way harder to calculate compared to the human population. With Bitcoin, there is no way to tell how many people there are, that is because most people use multiple addresses so there is no way to track the amount of unique users.

I'm sure every day there will always be new users coming, and I think it would be difficult to calculate how many bitcoin users with certainty, but the most important thing is bitcoin users continues to grow
true, it is very difficult to know the exact number of users bitcoin, because every day, bitcoin users continues to increase, especially at this time. even yesterday, so many blogs, news, and the media, who are looking for news about bitcoin, and I think today has proved that every day bitcoin users has increased, the price increase fairly quickly.

we can never ever calculate the real number of Bitcoin members since Bitcoin was created for the anonymity. There are lots of people who are not willing to provide the truth that they are holding Bitcoin and some even hide this truth.

The people who arent telling the truth are mostly the ones who say that they are using it on a daily basis. Why not admit that you are like the rest of us. We are interested in holding BTC to get rich. Thats the truth, why would most of you make things up?

Why would they ever want that?

Personally, I don't see any particular purpose in having this info even if the number of Bitcoin users can be more or less accurately assessed. As I said it before, this metric has no real importance for anything other than sheer curiosity. The only useful metric which comes close to the number of users is the number of transactions processed per unit of time since it allows to objectively evaluate the expansion (or contraction) in Bitcoin adoption as well as find possible bottlenecks, for example, by the number of unconfirmed transactions

Exactly that. It's surely not a necessity, but more something that quite some people find interesting to know. I too would find it interesting to know even though I won't gain anything from it directly. If you purely look at the number of transactions, then yes, it's fairly easy to assume that the adoption/usage has gone through the roof. But as always, you have to rule out a large portion of these transactions as they are dust or coming from one or more entities.

Personally, I'm not very interested in finding out this number

It is often thought that the number of Bitcoin users actively using it roughly corresponds the number of transactions processed daily and multiplied by 2. So if there are around 250k transactions per day at present, the number of active users would be equal to 500k people. Regarding transactions from exchanges and web wallets, these are said to be discarded if you take the stats from blockchain.info. Their data seem not to include first 100 addresses with most transactions
