You needn't even have it as a sub-level under Press. Only mainstream publications should make it to the Press board.
"Crypto News Services" could be a sub-level of the main board, in line with the Press board.

That would work too the main point was to have a distinction the categorization is less important

Yes this can separate bitcoin things and altcoins things. I also think that this could go to the 'New Forum Software' section so that this may added to the new software!

Seems like an interesting idea I'll add a topic on it and include altcoins as a separate press section recommendation later
New forum could do
Press Mainstream
Crypto Press
Altcoin Press with possible subdivisions

The news section is technically only for "noteworthy" press/news articles. This standard was much higher before bitcoin became mainstream because it was so rare for the media to report about Bitcoin in the news. Now it is almost a daily occurrence.

I believe that articles about Bitcoin should only be put in the news section on the day they are published. After that they should be in Bitcoin discussion.

Articles about apples, bananas, and anything else unrelated to Bitcoin do not belong in press.

+1. I agree we have no need to a sub-board in Press to host media specialized in BTC news. An appropriate use of Press and Bitcoin Discussion is what is needed, at least IMHO.

It was originally just for mainstream press hits but I guess bitcoin has gone mainstream now and people post any old article there. Rules regarding what should and shouldn't be posted there was discussed briefly a while back in the staff forum but nothing really came about it. People do tend to spam their own crappy sites in there too much but I don't know whether barring any crypto sites is a good idea or not. I'm on the fence whether it should be just limited to mainstream/non-btc related sites or not though.

In agreement it is a bit on the fence limiting articles to mainstream/non-btc sites
Originally we didn't see to many articles from cryto sites or mainstream news so it was manageable to have both in the same section, but with the daily flood it is starting to produce significant amounts of noise.

I went with the idea of putting them into their own sub-section since it would help filter out the feed for intensive purposes, mainstream media in one board with the cryto news feeds in another not that any one is inferior just to improve board management, with all the articles being added daily and the constant stream of posters and new topics related to Bitcoin it would help to filter out the noise in my opinion, and be a well used section of the forum.

There is the promoted press articles sticky but it's rarely used now since people just create new topics but if something fairly significant to Bitcoin occurs people do post there now and then.

I think we could use some clarification re 'Press' section. I don't think articles from bitcoin/crypto news services (CoinDesk, Cointelegraph etc) should be posted in this board, since basically all their articles are bitcoin related.

Shouldn't it be limited to mainstream or non-crypto press hits?

(Borrowing the idea from Pawel7777's post in the Press Board Guidelines with a modification for a subsection instead.)
