I don't know of any particular security problems, but it seems inelegant, not at all scalable, and just generally not well-thought-out. (Similar to Namecoin.)

AFAICT, BitMessage is seriously flawed in several ways, so I don't expect it to exist in the long-term (in its current form, at least). So I don't want to promote its use.
Perhaps there could be a custom contact field so you can enter "BitMessage: BM-..." or "Tox.im: [keyid]" or "GPG fingerprint: [fingerprint]".I think that's a great idea. I only use Google talk for chatting, and you don't have that listed either.

I think that is a good idea. There are options to add MSN, Yahoo, Skype etc, so why not have Bitmessage? It's better than Skype etc :-)
Hate to be that guy but "MSN, Yahoo" fields are included by default. Every SMF forum has those profile field. Skype isn't even an option. The only custom field that theymos added was "Bitcoin address" and "Trust"

I still have to dig in it better, but maybe this new feature could open doors to further integration with forum users' profiles.

It would be convenient if I could list my bitmessage address in my profile. Many uses (such as myself) have signatures disabled and thus don't see it there.
