Is there anything special that needs to be done? Can I even mix them?
do not mix, or your graphics card will not work optimally, AMD and Nvidia have their own privileges

You can mix them, but do expect a lot of driver issues and miner issues down the line. It does work, but you will experience some hiccups down the line. If it is temporary then go for it, until you can find the rest of the supply you require.

I'm running Windows 10 with 5x AMD 570 1x1070 and 1X 1080

All run ok but as others said the OC tools seem hit or miss.

Afterburner will not detect any AMD cards so i use OverdrivenTool for AMD and EVGA tool for the Nvidia.

1 annoyance i have is if there is a driver issue and you run DDU then you need to reinstall 2 sets..Nothing major though.

then I've added one RX580 to mine cryptonight coins, I have installed card,  install blockchain drivers, flashed the card, it seems it is working ok, the only bad thin I've noticed afterburner do not shows voltage for amd rx.
other then that, seem working good

A good tip i got is to install the brand that you have the most number of cards first.

For example you 8 AMD and 4 NVIDIA, make sure you install AMD first. Then install NVIDIA afterwards.
Never had any problems this way.

I have 1 rig that is both AMD and Nvidia works fine. Just remember to specify what GPU is to be used in the mining programs.

The only special thing you need to do is install the AMD driver Smiley
You can use one mining program to mine / dual mine Ethereum + Decred/Siacoin/Lbry/Pascal/Blake2s/Keccak with
Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v11.2

You also can use two different mining program one for your nVidia cards , one for your AMD cards and mine different coins ...

I have few mixed rigs all running stable on windows 10

I tried RX480 and 1060 6GB and the result doesn't happy. when a setting has bit complexity and must have mining software are different. only has a default hashrate because difficulty in modifying. especially for Nvidia.(Win10)

Yes, you could mix them, however I have 1 rig mixed with 1080ti and Rx480 that is pain suffering RX on windows 7 not to perform fully and I coudn't do OC on any tools, its a driver issue for sure, and no time to play with it yet. better is to leave them in separate rigs.

Im running Windows 10. Maybe I'll give it a shot.
