It would be a nice feature maybe, but is there really any reason to implement it? I haven't seen anyone run into any problems because they had an issue with their user names. It's a cosmetic feature at best, so maybe it remains in the pipeline because there is no urgency to implement this feature in a way which would serve a lot of people.
Lots of users have requested name changes in the past and for a myriad of reasons. Some just chose their name in haste when they signed up and would prefer something different and some people don't want their name tied to their identify elsewhere. Some people decide to start businesses or sell products and would like their name to reflect that. There have been other genuine reasons to change names but can't quite recall them right now. If you do a bit of searching in Meta you'll likely find a few.
Edit A few here:
Hi I am interested can we change our bitcointalk forum account name if we contact support or we cant because I added weird name but I want add normal name which will everybody like ,some signature capaign admins will maybe refuse me because of name because of my brainless when I was creating this account.
I was wondering if it was possible to change my username. I started this account a while back before I got really into Crypto. Now I have another name I go by in the Crypto world and would like to change my username if possible. I would rather not start a new account as then I would have to start over with my ratings.
Thanks in advance.
When I first registered in 2011 I didn't take my account name very seriously.
Now that I do business on this forum I would like people to take me more professionally.
Therefore, I would like to change my username to "xxxthats4xes".
Hey all,
Just so you all know, I have changed my name from Bitcoininformation to Mitchełł. When I joined Bitcointalk (over 1.5 years ago), I had my own website which used to have a
faucet. This account eventually turned into my personal account and it was about time that I changed the name to something that fits, well, me. As a staff I have the ability to change my own name, so I did.
Why Mitchełł? Because both Mitchell and Mitch (my nickname) are taken and Mitchełł looks really similar.
22-Aug-2016 update: Theymos has removed the old Mitchell account (as it was a spam account and hasn't been active in 5 years) which means, from now on, I'll be Mitchell.
