Hello

@hilariousandco
@mprep

Its been two weeks.

The ceaseless spamming of the Livecoin thread continues uninterrupted.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1151791.1620;topicseen

Every time a newb account writes their incentivized post (which they are, I laid out all the evidence earlier in this thread), it bumps the Livecoin thread to the top of the Exchanges section.

It's a fraudulent exchange that pulled an exit scam and now they are using the forum to not only cover their tracks but salvage their disastrous reputation.

Please lock the thread. Every day dozens of newb accounts post the same message. The exchange is closed. There's no reason to keep the thread open.

Hate to say it because I'm gonna sound like TECSHARE here (RIP), but leaving it open while banning/temp banning other members for the exact same behavior reflects double-standards in moderation...

Hope I never say that again, feels kind of gross, but its worth it to get this stupid thread locked.

maybe it's better to keep that main thread active though, ...

I actually agree to a point and would like to make a suggestion to others that they "ignore" the OP of that thread [ LiveCoin ] that way it won't show up as prominently in our own thread lists - newer users might look in, but I'm sure once they see the caliber of those posts, they won't be inclined to make any comments.

I vaguely recall that there was a second livecoin UID with a similar UID name - from a cursory glance there is livecoins ho was Last Active:    2021-07-11, 23:40:29, but I can't say for certain that was the account I'm thinking of.

A second thread with the title "LiveCoin.net >Buy/Sell/Exchange>New pairs:BVK/BTC,APOD/BTC,KTETH/BTC" was started in the last couple of days (solely with users posting the same 50% rhetoric), however, it has been nuked, so the question remains:  "Why hasn't the first thread been nuked as well?"

maybe it's better to keep that main thread active though, but let the admins delete all others newly created about the Livecoin topic. So, the pointless shill for this exchange/domain will remain in only one mega spam thread.
Probably if it ever happens that they want to revive their reputation, it should be in a much more serious way. In the meantime, I will be going to report when I find any new topic about Livecoin refund or any fake news from there.

This has been going on since March, but for some reason it's gotten really prolific over the last few weeks.

Looking at this post from that thread, it seems sincere (though I'm not sure I should believe this member).  People could very well be getting refunds from Livecoin, but they're going about it the wrong way by making people post in their thread.  There's no need for that.

It's quite odd to say the least.  There does seem to be some sincerity to that post, but it could be just a ruse by a LiveCoin sock puppet.  It's hard to believe that LiveCoin is actually offering refunds, but if they are, they picked the most obnoxious way to go about it.

If it's true that LiveCoin are offering refunds it could be they're trying to repair their reputation, possibly to resurrect the exchange.  But why?  As far as I know the operators were anonymous, so they could just start fresh with new name and not contend with the stigma of the "LiveCoin" name.  Even if they are returning funds out of ethical and moral convictions, why do so in a way that keeps promoting the fiasco in the first place?

The whole thing just makes so little sense.

I have noticed this too, yesterday I report a post from the Bitcoin Discussion board that about getting 50% funds back which has marked good. Spammers aren't just limited to the Livecoin announcement thread, they are spreading spam all over the forum. So I feel too it's reasonable to Lock the Livecoin announcement thread. So at least spammers can't spam there. If they spam in other boards, then the report would help to prevent them.

Actually productive members are regularly banned for 30-60 days for engaging in this exact same behavior.

I don't think it's incentivized posts, it's a requirement instruction.
Even you take what's happening in that thread at face value, i.e., that newbies are posting in it in order to recover 50% of their funds from Livecoin, it's still very much incentivized posting.  Their incentive is to get their funds back.

And if, like me, you don't take the thread at face value, what's happening in it is a straight-up scam in progress.  I haven't visited the thread in a while, but last time I did there were no members other than newbies posting that they'd gotten their 50% back.  No established members, not even one, had posted the same.  I'm pretty sure Livecoin pulled an exit scam, regardless of all of those posts.

If I'm wrong, the thread still needs to be locked IMO.  It's breaking forum rules by remaining open.

Edit: Looking at this post from that thread, it seems sincere (though I'm not sure I should believe this member).  People could very well be getting refunds from Livecoin, but they're going about it the wrong way by making people post in their thread.  There's no need for that.

incentivized posting
I don't think it's incentivized posts, it's a requirement instruction. They (victims) did it under pressure, there is no other way to hope for a refund other than following the crazy instructions of the livecoin team.

Besides, I believe most of them don't know about forum rules (spam, plagiarism) beforehand. Some of them even made such clarifying topics on some boards like Bitcoin Discussion, scam accusations, reputation. Just worried that if the official topic will be closed, the Livecoin team will make even crazier instructions on this forum and spam can't be handled properly.

Is there some particular rationale for keeping the Livecoin thread open that we are not privvy to?

Its quite obviously incentivized posting... To prove it all you need to do is find the 15/2/21 post on Telegram that instructs people to post in the thread:

This is the message:

Helped you to file a report, let's see how it goes.

And now you mentioned it, there's one dead ICO that still has shills posting on it on my feed. Gonna report that one.

I support locking of that Livecoin topic so I reported topic creator with note that topic should be locked, and I also reported some of the people posting their usernames and addresses on last pages on that topic.

Please lock or nuke the thread.

I agree that the thread should be locked, however, nuking the thread and/pr the user concerned allows them to get off scoff free.  A locked thread is "proof" of what transpired without more shill/sock puppets coming along and trolling in the forum.

฿itcoin for all, All for ฿itcoin.
I support the suggestion. I recently noticed that the Livecoin thread keeps getting endless bumps each day, with newbie accounts claiming they have received a refund from the now defunct livecoin exchanges. There's no difference between bumping services and what's going on in the Livecoin thread.

I have also seen such topics with the same message from newbie accounts getting posted in different boards such as this - https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/livecoin-refund-5347733

Such posts should be deleted at first sight. It's spam and may increase with time.

Admins and Mods,
Please take a moment to investigate what's going on with the Livecoin service discussion thread.  Even thought Livecoin has ceased operations and is out of business, the thread is being spammed by a bunch of newbie accounts that appear to be shills, bots, or both.  The typical reasons for reports don't seem to apply to the individual posts (incentivized posting, maybe?) so I'm afraid reporting them won't help.  Others have already done so, to no avail.

There's a discussion in the Reputation board about the issue which includes more details:  https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/livecoinnet-invasion-5328907

Please lock or nuke the thread.
