a few things are sure:
no one can predict a storm for october in july.
most chinese know someone with a hd camera and then stream the movie online. dont expect huge 'box office' numbers.

take box office numbers of other movies.
avengers endgame made 800million just in USA. many would think china is 4x population so should make 4x.. but.. infact it made 5x LESS than america

if china could not drum up enough excitement for an action movie, dont expect much for a financial movie.

This will be an incredibly important event during the mass protests. I am sure that Bitcoin will become a key tool in the fight against the government in case of the rejection of the national currency. This movie will be very important for the Chinese to increase their awareness right now.

This is very good news. Through the movies, you can also transfer information to the masses. I think that many who will watch the film will want to know more about bitcoin.

To be clear, there are a lot of movies about bitcoin, you can just search them and you can transfer a lot of information about it. This movie is said to be about the blockchain, not bitcoin.

Will any famous Chinese actors act in this movie?
Maybe Jacky Chan or other...

I don't know. Jackie Chan is from Hong Kong which was pro west oriented.

I think he is not in the movie. If he's there they will obviously show him to get more interest or hype from the viewers.

Well, anything is better than Crypto (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYZut3DWvek&t=3s), I guess. Because this movie definitely shows that not any advertising is good advertising. However, the trailer does not show clearly the attitude to cryptos. So yeah, the woman says how banks are doing whatever they want with the money, whereas blockchain makes everything transparent. But then there's that guy laughing, and it might be that the woman is actually the villain and these people are trying to scam everyone else or something... China is not a pro-crypto country, and as long as the current government is in power, it probably won't be. So I'd be cautious about this movie, it might also be the pro-government one, even though we cannot see it at first.

Some of them might be curious and fascinated, but we can't really assure that people will accept it. Its great because people find some ways to express the things they can't easily explained and thoughts in different ways like this, its a creative way to enlighten people about bitcoin.

A new Chinese movie about blockchain and cryptocurrencies titled “Sage Thief” is coming to the theatres this October and that is causing some kind of excitement especially among the Chinese recently.
China recently declared cryptocurrencies as virtual properties and confirmed the protection of cryptocurrencies by law after a few years of bans which kept the innovation out the Chinese boundaries. This signaled good fortune for many Chinese who seemed to be interested in the topic of blockchain and cryptocurrencies.

I doubt it will be the second coming for the Chinese. They have been in the bitcoin industry for so long that they know what's the real story behind. So I doubt that just because they release some movie about bitcoin they will suddenly be interested again.

China is anti-bitcoin, but pro blockchain, just remember that.

According to the article, it looks like they are promoting their coin through the movie by having a payment using "SELF". I think they aren't focus on Bitcoin alone but on the whole cryptocurrency and Blockchain. Well, not all chinese will be interested but it will surely attract attentions to the others.

CLEAN non GPL infringing code made in Rust lang
Well i don't know, I'll have to watch this movie before giving my verdict. But coming from China, it is 100% guaranteed it won't be in opposition to government policies, unless you mean Hong Kong or Taiwan.

Lets hope it is good, to debunk myths and dispel lies to the Chinese, then i don't mind if they praise the party in the process...

Or, do you think certain altcoin backer could be involved?

Just watched the trailer and at first I thought it was defaming Bitcoin more but now its the other way around. Its a movie against banks and for cryptocurrency, its like the movie wants us to realize something that banks are profiting from our own money and Bitcoin and blockchain have found a way to slow them down. I would love to watch it but I am not used to watching at the same time reading subtitles, hoping they will realease a English-dubbed version for their international viewers.

Cats on Mars
Pretty cool trailer, instead of trying to hook the public with the typical premises around cryptos, the main focus was the crooked bankers and how the whole crooked banking system works. Looking forward to it.

Also, the person explaning the whole thing is a female, which I believe people will see it as a positive thing given how frequently articles like this one pop up.

I might have a look at the trailer whenever it comes out and is subtitled in English
Did you even read the article OP posted? The trailer is there and it is subtitled  Roll Eyes

The Chinese have been very wonderful in the development of the blockchain industry I salute their tenacity and sagacity, despite the many hurdles they been facing from the communist government. When China finally settles for bitcoin and blockchain, many third world countries doing trade with them will have a good heart towards bitcoin.

China is as anti-bitcoin as it gets with the vast majority of the mining companies originating from there  /sarcasm
they are protecting their financial markets , they are not anti-bitcoin per se
if something is threatening the current status quo and is alleviating the capital flow from the country ,it has to be regulated
China did exactly that , they made banks and exchanges stop dealing with bitcoin while not prohibiting its use for the population
as for the movie , I would judge the title after I see it
bitcoin or blockchain movie , it doesn't matter if the movie itself is crappy
I hope it is entertaining and is going to be a good example of how to promote cryptocurrencies with art

Couldn't they have chosen a different title for the movie? 'Sage Thief' has a very negative connotation to it, which I'm sure people will pick up on when they see this movie being advertised locally. I don't recall having seen a movie or documentary about crypto that isn't highlighting how criminals use it. It's no longer 2011/2014..... Roll Eyes

I might have a look at the trailer whenever it comes out and is subtitled in English, but I'm pretty certain that it will badly disappoint, especially if they spend a lot time talking about how great the blockchain technology in general is.
