Why does this user (?) get to create "Important Announcements" where they obviously advocate contentious and dangerous software, in addition to promoting another website within it? I understand that said rank allows posting in said section, but isn't he/she/it breaking the rules?

VIP tier it is possible someone woke up the account and decided to post a general FAQ for people to read about the Fork debate. The 2015 XT posts are consistent with the posts to the present. (From the post views not that many read the Important ANN section lol)

Nothing malicious just reference links to BU, reddit, medium, gavins page, sites used to measure signalling etc.
The fork discussion is a big component of Bitcoin discussion topics along with blocksize debate so as a post it note it was formatted decently enough and seems fairly even handed reading the post.

I'll agree with the others for now it doesn't looked hacked just an inactive who went with the XT group now BU because VIP wants bigger block sizes and mentions the issue of what could happen in a fork case and generally avoids bitcointalk due to censorship concerns.

If someone wanted to be even-handed an addendum at the VIP level or a separate post that adds context to areas not covered by the BU post could be made to address some points for Core that may be ignored in the OP post.

Like consequence cases but as far as I can observe that was already mentioned under the heading
What will happen to my bitcoin when a fork happens?
People will choose the network protocol change they prefer nuff said.

possibly a hacked account taking advantage of the VIP status. Last post was made on August 16, 2015 until recently.
Some/many of his posts from Aug 2015 were in support of XT, so it is reasonable to say that this guy supports larger blocks.

Some of his posts have also claimed censorship on these forums, and if it was his belief that these forums are censored, then it would be logical for him to not be active here.

From looking at post history, i concluded the same as QS.
Not proven, but quite likely not hacked. (and if future posting habit/stance continues)

I would like to think a VIP account could provide proof of ownership if "needed", for their personal account security?

(sorry, gone a bit off topic here Lauda. Just wanted to comment on the hacked account issue here)
