Modern miners only work with Asicboost, and the Braiins OS option that existed for S9 would still required a pool with rolling version so it was essentially useless to disable it as a combination of a pool with rolling but without Asicboost simply did not exist or i never saw one anyway.

Changing the hostname should be in System > Status > System, but that is unavailable to bbb.

Yes you cannot rename the user. Well you can but its pointless, it still needs to be root level and some things may break so you better don't.

Where do you get the idea to use commas? I has always been dots, anything regarding IP numbers has always been dots, at least for IPv4.

Do not use the Network tab, use the (Advanced) one. The "Simple" one should be fixed in a future release.
Note that for bbb you don't have this option, it is more complicated so its best to open a support ticket or come to the telegram support group and ask there.

The '[Graph QL] Network settings could not be obtained' error is very annoying, it pops up every time i select the SYSTEM tab!

It will not save static IP address in normal tab, it will in advanced.

Hopefully the bug will be fixed soon.

Had to flash via NAND SD as most of my miners require and it normally fine.

Set jumper, inserted card, flashed, returned jumper to normal.

Then i could not log in to the ip address even though it was showing on an ip scanner?

I could also tell the miner was not running/autotuning.

The only way i could log in was to leave sd card in and return jumper to flash mode?

Anyone experience this?

I'm thinking of getting a few 2Gb cards and just using the run from sd card fw even though this miner is doing it from the flash nand fw?

Very odd??

It does state -DNS Servers part -Comma separated values, so does that mean i enter 192,168,1,1 instead of 192.168.1.1 ?

That just means if you have more than one DNS server you separate the IP addresses or domain names by commas

DNS #1: 192.168.1.1
DNS #2: 1.1.1.1
DNS #3: 8.8.8.8

DNS Servers: 192.168.1.1,1.1.1.1,8.8.8.8

Its great software tbh, i'm using same power (i monitored with plug in meter before/after) and getting 1-2Th more!

1. I can't find the Asicboost option?

2. I can't find where to rename the miner?

3. i can change the password but not the username?

4. I keep getting error -'[Graph QL] networks settings could not be obtained', i always have my miners set to static and they are still on the same address since upgrading but nothing shows on the network settings page, it's blank? But it shows on the network advanced page?
I entered my details as i would with older FW into the main Network settings page and it does not save.

I've never came across this before before and the con stant warning on all ,y upgraded miners is annoying.

Thanks for the advice.

I did use the correct image file, just tried again and it's worked.

I have set it to 1350w and i'm now getting 15TH instead of 12.8Th @1470w!!!

The interface will take getting used to as will fault finding i presume with kernol logs etc, theres much more info and settings with this FW.

I'm thinking of installing it on all my miners due to the speed increase and small discount you get of Slush/Brainns pool.

Should i go ahead and do this?

Cheers guys for the help and advice.

Feel free to test as much as you want. Remember that some miners were meant to use higher power than others, for example S9 11.85 vs S9j 14.5. Of course low values are safe for all of them.

You can do batch installing using bos-toolbox, just make a simple text file with the list of IP addresses, one per line.

Don't disable asicboost, all modern miners use it and no pools remain that can't.

Why not stay using it and install it on other miners?
The slight increase of hashrate may be due to the ASIC boost enabled so disabling it I'm sure you will notice the difference.
Just don't forget to monitor the temp or set up the temp control properly only stay at default/target temp at 89c.

That file is meant for unlocked miners only, those with firmware prior to 2019 (as reported by file system version).

The easiest method to install is with bos-toolbox, if your miner already has the latest available firmware from the manufacturer.

Failed..

I flashed the image to SD card, inserted it/moved JP4 for flash to NAND, i did not get two flashing LEDs, although it was showing Brainsos.
 when logged in.

I presumed it had flashed anyway so removed SD and jumper back to boot from NAND and it booted back to the old 2019 FW!!

What a pain, plus it only had 2 pools for entry and would not let me add a third after continually rebooting BMminer.

Totally unreliable imo.

It shouldn't be booted on the web if you did download the correct file image. I guess that you downloaded a web version where you can access BraiinsOS while the JP4 is moved/jumped to another side.
You should use the right image if you want to flash it into Nand.

Would you mind to try the firmware from this link https://feeds.braiins-os.org/20.09.1/ the one with the name s9 SD?

There is a way to bypass "Cannot Find Signature", maybe you can look at this:
https://www.zeusbtc.com/articles/asic-miner-troubleshooting/3011-how-to-bypass-can-t-find-signature-when-updating-antminer-firmware
But, this operation has certain risks. Generally not recommended.

That would work if the miner SSH is not disabled but most of the 2018 to 2019 firmware is ssh disabled and locked firmware.

Your only last hope if accessing the SSH do not work is to flash it through an SD card and nothing else.

I presume you just format the card, copy the file over, turn off miner/imsert card and when it's turned back on it will flash automatically?

No it's not the same as other antminer units that you simply copy and paste the firmware into SD card you will need Etcher to burn the firmware image to SD card.

I can monitor it via logging in and once complete i just need to remove the card?

There are no logs the only sign if the miner is flashing is that LEDs are flashing and you need to move the JP4 jumper to another side to flash it directly to the Nand.

Better read the whole guide from this link https://docs.braiins.com/os/plus-en/Setup/2_advanced.html#sd-card-image

Thanks, i missed that file you stick on an SD card to flash, never done that before tbh.

Anyone confirm this is the process?

Cheers

Thats a web version of BraiinsOS it won't work on units with locked firmware.

Would you mind to try the SD card flashing? You can find the SD card firmware from the link you posted above.

Or if it doesn't work try the SD card image from awesomeminer here https://www.awesomeminer.com/antminerfirmware and then flash it again to BraiinsOS.

Hi All

I am trying to udate all my miners to the latest Braiins OS+ as i use Slushpool.

I am aware that FW is locked on some models in after 2019 and i have searched and found this tool/guide to unlock but mine in 2018 FW PLUS the link the S9 unlocking tool is not working?

Here -https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5203992.0

I am only trying to update to genuine (not downgrade) so surely it should work?

I have the following S9 -

Miner Type   Antminer S9
Hostname   antMiner
Model   GNU/Linux
Hardware Version   30.0.1.3
Kernel Version   Linux 3.14.0-xilinx-g16220c3 #83 SMP PREEMPT Thu Jul 12 11:42:53 CST 2018
File System Version   Wed Jul 31 16:18:27 CST 2019
Logic Version   V1.3.58
BMminer Version   2.0.0
Uptime   20
Load Average   0.13, 0.26, 0.19

This is what i am trying to upgrade to- s9_Web_Package_(BraiinsOS+)

Here -

Upgrade from stock firmware to Braiins OS+
Uses web interface of (pre-2019 versions) stock firmware to upgrade. This web package can also be used for batch installation using BTC Tools

Any ideas on how to proceed?

Thanks
