To add my thoughts about this.
Sure you can use 2 power supplies but I don't see the use of it, it'll cost you more that's the only thing to it.

I've recently calculated the power usage from a mining rig that I wanted to built, which is about the same as yours but with less DDR and the cheapest processor available. But also with 3 x 280x card.
The calculation of my system brought me to buy a minimum of 809 WATT PSU...

So I can imagine you with a bit more power needed, but maybe that gets you to a 900 watt minimum.
IMHO you can go safely with 1000 WATT PSU. Just make sure it's a decent one. There's a world of difference between power supplies. I have no experience with EVGA though.
Seasonic PSU's are always safe to go with.

I'm a newbie too but my 2 cents based on what I've learned so far.

You're much better off going with the 1200 watt PSU. If I were you, actually, I'd get 2 PSUs for 750W each and chain them together using an Add2PSU. Don't risk overloading your PSU or it could burn out, your GPU could burn out, both could burn out, or worse. I had it happen to me but luckily I caught it before any major damage was done. I use 3 PSUs (750W chained) now for my 5 GPUs. Overkill? Sure. But I have peace of mind Smiley

Hello,

I am making new rig with 3 x R9 280x Gigabyte Rev 2

CPU Amd FX6 6300

Corsair 8gb DDR3 1600mhz

I am thinking of getting 4th gpu if it fits in Asrock Extreme 4 motherboard http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0058HUQJ0/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0058HUQJ0&linkCode=as2&tag=cptbr-20

The powersupply is EVGA 1000W SuperNOVA 1000 G2 ATX 80 PLUS Gold PSU    http://www.dabs.com/products/evga-1000w-supernova-1000-g2-atx-80-plus-gold-psu-8W9N.html

Is this powersupply enough for 4 x R9 280x Gigabyte Rev 2 even with low voltage?

Or do i need 1200w minimum?
