~2 yrs later:

I'm seeing great still, no issues seeing at night. That went away about 6 months after. My only annoyance is that I still have that knee-jerk reaction where I want to push up my glasses on my nose. That only occurs in the morning when my eyes are adjusting to being me being awake, and before coffee Smiley

12 days after the surgery and I see great! My near-vision blurriness has almost gone away, at night it is noticeable when looking at my phone. I asked my doctor about the bladless prior to surgery and he said that the difference is that it is more expensive and that turned away many patients. He didn't offer it anymore because of the lack of interest. I also looked up on youtube how the laser procedure works, it is actually worse IMO. Basically the laser vaporizes a partial circle of cornea and makes an air bubble, which the doctor then has to "tear" open to expose the cornea. I though that was gross so I was happy to go with the can-opener.

as a Scientologist, blurred vision is caused by engrams.  which u should study Dianetics for.  it cured my Vision in about a week.  if your head is clear, then your vision will be too.

good luck!   Wink

I read somewhere there are new variants of this method, where the laser does all the work, including the initial cut. They don't have to make this "flap" that was previously needed to expose the eye which shortens the whole procedure.

PRK has an annoying recovery, but the results are usually the same. It depends on a verity a factors whether you can have lasik or prk or any laser eye surgery.

Surgery was super quick, no issues so far. The worst part of the whole thing was the hour long wait.  Cool I used to be near-sighted and after surgery I am far-sighted... hopefully that is temporary as my corneas heal.

I got this surgery 3 months ago and i couldn't be happier Cheesy I'm seeing much better now without glasses than before with them. Just a few advices:
- Go eject only if you're above 30 and haven't changed the correction value of your glasses in at least one year, otherwise you may need prescription glasses again very soon.
- If the doctor says "don't blink" while on surgery then don't! Bad things can happen if you don't follow his instructions.
- Follow the after-surgery instructions and don't worry if you don't see perfectly or if you see rings the first few weeks or up to 3 months. Things get better after the eyes fully recover Smiley

Good luck!

I am tired of the Cool frames Cool and I hate contacts. Convince me to get or to not get LASIK vision correction surgery...

GO!

I wish you the best for your surgery.

In the past i was tempted, but i was afraid to risk.
One funny thing that drove me paranoid were the doctor and his staff, all of them were still wearing glasses and they evaded my questions about it Smiley

How much does this cost?

I have heard anywhere from $2,500 to $5,000. The office I went to quoted me a little over $3,000. With any luck, I'll be posting pics with me without the frames by May 1st.  Cool

2 weeks until surgery!

Thank you everyone, there are certainly pros and cons of having the procedure. If I do end up getting it done, I want to go bladeless, because some of the videos I've seen look painful with that can-opener thing they use to cut the cornea flap.  Shocked

Hard choice to make. I've known people that have done LASIK and are happy with it, but I'd be cautious to do it myself. Not to mention the thought of the actual procedure is kinda frightening. I hadn't heard about possibly having worse night vision before, that is interesting.

surgery should be avoided especially when its unnecessary

I agree with you.  It's completely unnatural.  Surgery is a luxury of the 21st century.  Think of al the times humans had without surgery - thy functioned just fine.  In the wilderness, humans with bad eyes tend to die. Nature is telling you that you're not fit.  Anyways, if you take off your glasses and don't get this surgery, you'll feel more natural and eventually your brains may adjust and compensate for your shitty eyes.

Lasik doesn't always help, for instance if you just have a lazy eye. Typically the eye itself is fine it's just the processing that's weak, Lasik can't help that.

Since he is looking to get the surgery, its likely that it is a problem of accommodation. In anycase doctor will check and proceed.

I never bothered, I am doing with glasses just fine. If Bitcoin makes me rich I will go for the daily disposable lenses.

other than the part where they clamp your eye open and then slice off your cornea? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usEBmEtLpoU

I'd briefly considered lazer surgery as my eyesight has got a bit blurry over the past few years to the point where I need glasses for certain situations especially if the TV I'm watching is a couple of meters away but I don't think I could go through with the procedure. That video alone made me feel queasy and I don't even think I could wear contacts because I don't like touching my eyes or messing with them every morning and night. The eyes just seem too delicate and fragile to scrape and cut off layers and the fact that they could be made worse wouldn't be worth it for me.

Im not a fan of unnedded medical procedures, especially if has anything to do with vision. Myself been 4 eyes since childhood cant see without them, but doesnt bother me to wear glasses. Depends on you only thou. If you have money or insurance to cover and dont mind risk of surgery, then only you can make right decison for yourself. Keep us posted on what you decide!

Depends how you define unneeded. For some people their poor vision or having to wear glasses really effects their confidence. I guess some people get boobs jobs for the same reason but eyesite is a little different. Maybe glasses or contacts might not be suitable for some professions or activities so laser surgery is the best option. I guess you've got to just weigh up the positives and negatives at the end of the day.

True points there. For instance, if active in sports glasses can get in the way. For me, Im a geek that has glasses forever so dont care anymore. It makes me look smarter and chicks dig it. LOL. Everone is different thou, so results may vary!

a popular youtuber said he had perfect vision the next day and was happy he did it. but there have been reports on the news from people who say something went wrong. they have unimaginable pain every day and doctors say there is nothing they can do and they will have this pain for the rest of their life. i would not fuck with my eyes. youtube lasik eye surgery risks / pain / gone wrong.

I guess there are risks with any sort of surgery but I was wondering what the percentage result in complications. The industry seems to advertise one percent but according to this guy it's likely 20-30% http://youtu.be/OyfmUxnl65g?t=2m55s. If true not something I'd personally take the risk of and would just stick with glasses or contacts.

I would estimate the risk is between 1 and 20%, it depends where you put the line of a good result.

The price to pay is high with a reputable surgeon but the surgery seems to be very reliable now.

Can give you bad night vision. Not nice if you need to drive at night.

Dry eyes can be a long term result of eye surgery. You may, eventually need to apply drops or gel every few hours. Dryness actually causes material to peel off the eye. The eye is good at repairing itself but the material blocks glands and ducts after a period of time.

This can lead to Blepharitis. You don't want bleph. This is particularly unpleasant and can be very debilitating. Not to mention its almost impossible to get rid of and control.
