youtube does that already there are many good education channels there why does the world need you and your token?
That's a very rude way of replying.YouTube has numerous adds running midst course tutorials. If YouTube was so good, why people bother buying courses from Udemy? It is not and revolution in that stream is much needed.

OP your vision is concise but it's hard to find Universities which will comply with your idea. They have money to make Smiley

its not rudely meant, i was just asking why he is trying to reinvent the world

youtube as a palattform is also capable to store educational material and it can expand and improve it.

Youtube is capable of the things you said but I highly doubt they would want to innovative and transform themselves to an education platform. Having education materials on the platform and being an education platform is entirely different. And like I said before, for majority of the world, credentials and accreditation are very important and Youtube fails to tick that box.

they could still create a subsection calling it youtube education or something like that nevertheless its ok creating an own plattform its better however using or copying established structures. it saves ressources

I agree that partnering with universities is probably going to be the hardest part. But I think as long as the idea is viable and students are flocking to the platform to take part in courses, the universities will eventually see it as an opportunity to attract new students and will be forced to innovative as well.

Yes, I'm unable to push forward this idea due to lack of funds as of now. Thank you for offering a good alternative measure. Even though I'm not entirely sure if universities would like to collaborate or sponsor the project without a working product first.
That depends on how you frame it: As a business or as a project in development in which they can take part, and which could possibly offer them other benefits as well. Such as the opportunity for scientific evaluation or just building a reputation for being innovative (with their ministry for education or other institutions, depending on the country).

I think the best approach would be to get in touch with friends, friends of friends and other contacts who work at a university and find out in a one-to-one conversation if this would be an interesting project for them and their department. You don't need to sign up a whole university first - one department or sub-department would be a good start.

Thank you for your suggestions. I had not taken into consideration that partnering with innovative platforms (like how blockchain startups are huge right now) will build reputation for those universities and they might see it as an opportunity to attract new students. I think this approach is a good way to find out if universities will actually support the platform.

I think that the idea is great, but it's also very difficult to accomplish as you'll have to come to terms with existing universities. They won't welcome you with open arms as their first thought will be that you're going to take some potential students from them. Somebody who would have to take a loan, and rent a place to be able to study, will now do it from home for a fraction of the price. Also, the teachers would have to allocate additional time and the time of a university professor isn't cheap.
The idea is great and I'm sure it could work, but it's going to require a huge budget.

Thank you for your feedback. On the contrary, I actually feel the platform will bring new students for those distant universities. Creating a global database of accredited courses and building a network of universities will actually bring a lot of new students to the platform and help universities recruit students more easily. Even though students might not complete entire degrees from those particular universities but individual courses introduced to global masses will be of great interest to students from underdeveloped countries where education is a not easily accessible. Although I agree completely digitizing and globalizing education is not a very profitable approach for majority of the top tier universities.

Project Illumine is a revolutionary blockchain-powered decentralized education platform that aims to build a global network of thousands of universities all around the world, help education reach the unprivileged and establish education as a human right. The platform will offer accredited online courses from accredited universities around the world and the blockchain will streamline the credit transfer process. Think of it as spider’s web, imagine all the universities in the world under a single network, operating as one global education platform. This will decentralize the degree and provide any individual with just a computer and an internet connection access to quality education. The global network will not only provide quality courses from universities but also significantly reduce average global costs of education as tuition rates significantly vary among countries. The blockchain will also eliminate third party evaluators by using the blockchain to transfer credits between universities and save significant amount of money for students. Eventually the long-term plan is to grow a student community all around the world and get accredited by accredited educational organizations which will allow us to eventually provide micro-degrees to students using a mixture of courses from different universities.

*Please note we do not wish to provide courses prepared by us or just any organization, we wish to build a network of accredited courses from accredited universities around the world.

A different way to look at this is, the network of accredited universities will lower the global average cost of obtaining a degree. For example, a 3-credit course in some of the countries in South-East Asia is around $200, its around $300 in India, less than $200 in most African countries where as the same 3-credit course in USA is outrageously around $1000. These low tuition rates will lower the global average cost of obtaining a degree when everything will be under one single network. An hypothesis of the idea is, if a student from a developed country with high tuition rates take 30 credits online from universities in developing countries and transfer the credit back to the university they are studying, they can end up saving more than $15000 on the overall expenditure for a degree. The blockchain platform will be able to streamline the process of credit transfers easily. This will provide students with an opportunity to become educated without having to stress about student loans.

The platform will also include features such as crypto digital identity and digital transcript, digital products and learning solutions, digital library, study guides repository and student lounge, assessment and evaluation of credits and more.

This is just a very basic outline of the project and in depth details are mentioned in the whitepaper which is yet to be published. More information about the project can be found on www.projectillumine.com

This project is currently administered by one person and I'm still undecided on whether to do an ICO(which is an option entirely due to lack of funds) and raise money for the project or to try and develop the project as an open source project entirely with the help of the community without doing an ICO. The main purpose of the post is to get community feedback and check the viability of the idea. Feedback are encouraged, positive and as well as negative. If anything is unclear, please don't hesitate to ask questions.

There are definitely good education platforms like Udemy, Coursera etc but the problem with those are they are "un-accredited courses" which not accredited by universities as well as any education board of a country. Like I can create a course right now on a particular topic and add it on Udemy, its the credentials that's lacking. What I'm proposing is entirely different. The purpose of the project is to build a network of universities which provide accredited courses and connect them all with blockchain. This way its possible to entirely decentralize the degree. Students regardless of where they are in the world can take courses from major universities all around the world, and virtually create a digital transcript. There are also many other problems we aim solve, like credit transfers between universities. Credit transfer from one country to another is a very time consuming and expensive process which can be solved through blockchain. A digital identity with a digital transcript entirely secure and managed by the user is also a feature we wish to build.

The world doesn't particularly need me or my token, but it definitely needs major improvement in the education sector. With only 7-8% people right now having a degree and over 1 billion people still not getting access to basic education. There is lots we can still do.

i have no idea how this is better then systematic online education there are countless distant universities, nevertheless witht he right determination this project can also become successful, you have to find people that trust you

There's another option (assuming that you don't have enough funds for bootstrapping right now): You could approach individual universities and other institutions and ask them to collaborate and/or sponsor you.
