I just thought about adding it as Ledger sent me an email stating they support ADA, mine Ledger is already linked to my desktop Daedalus wallet anyway, so the ONLY difference is that it can be viewed/added to the ledger live portfolio i presume.
Again... to clarify... the Ledger Live portfolio only supports 23 coins as of version 1.6.0 of the Ledger Live software... the following coins are listed in the drop-down box when you add an "account" to your portfolio:

Any coins or tokens that are not on this list, cannot be added to your Ledger Live portfolio... and can only be viewed/spent using other 3rd party wallets/services in conjuction with your Ledger device.

Is it worth it i'm not sure?
Yes... it is miles better than the old chrome webapps... for one, it is updated and supported and as far as I'm aware, basically required if you need to use Ledger Manager (update firmware, install/uninstall apps to the device etc)... as the chrome app no longer works.

Additionally, it allows you to view all the app-supported (but not all device-supported) coins in one place, at the same time... instead of having to use multiple chrome webapps to view wallets... or having to change from one coin-type to the other etc.

Also, because it is a native app, performance is better and seems to work more reliably than the old chrome webapps... and you also get the "watching-only" functionality (protected by a password) that allows you to simply open the app and view your portfolio without even needing to have the device connected.

Granted, if you deal with a bunch of non-Ledger Live supported tokens and coins, the benefits may be somewhat limited... but you'll need it to update firmware anyway.

Time for a new PC i think...lol

Seems like it. Windows 10 device (though I'm not saying you should use it) is pretty cheap nowadays. Maybe spent another buck and you can get a handy ultrabook.

Anyway, I recommend you to use Ledger Live, like Lucius said. It's better to use the latest app with its drawback rather than exposing yourself to an out of dated software.

I am not saying that you will have same problem with Ledger Live on your Windows 7, maybe it is just something on my PC which is causes app to crash. It is work without problem with Ledger firmware 1.4.2, but the problem appeared with new firmware 1.5.5, so it is something related to firmware, because it is not working even with lower versions of Ledger Live.

You should try to install Ledger Live app and see how is working (or not) in your case.

Its seems to me it's just the same a me using Crypocompare Portfolio, there are no benefits??

With Ledger Live and your Nano S you can send transaction, but also use it only as watch wallet, and with Cryptocompare you can only monitor your coins, that's the biggest difference between the two mentioned.

It is also important to know that Ledger Chrome app is not something you should use, they are outdated and probably not so secure to use. From my experience Ledger Manager in Chrome app is not show nothing (no possibility to add / remove app) and Ledger Bitcoin Wallet is very slow sync any wallet I try.

You did not write which OS you are using, but on Windows 7 Ledger Live is just crash after few minutes in my case ( I did not try latest version), but since Ledger is not support W7 I doubt something has changed regarding that.

I'm on Win7, tbh i have not used the Chrome Manager app for months.

My Ledger Bitcoin Wallet works perfectly and my Laptop is only worth $100...lol

Never had a problem tbh, syncs fine etc.

Time for a new PC i think...lol

Cheers guys, i 'may' install it then....

I was hoping it done away Iota wallet and Daedalus etc.

I monitor all my coins/currency/prices/charts etc with a cryptocompare portfolio anyway.....

Is it worth it i'm not sure?

Is it just as simple as downloading and it will work as normal and all coins will show in the app?
Yes, it is pretty much just as simple as downloading and it will work as normal... unfortunately, No... not all "ledger supported" coins will show in the app. Undecided

The Ledger Live app only supports the coins as shown here: https://www.ledger.com/pages/supported-crypto-assets (23 as of version 1.6.0)

The other coins can still be accessed via MEW, MCW or their own individual apps like IOTA and ADA etc. as you are currently using them now.

The reason i am asking is that i have coins Like ADA, IOTA etc that are still accessed using their individual apps/programs (they are still signed/accessed with my wallet/Ledger)
Do i just install it and all will be good? Will they all just appear ?? Or will it ONLY show the amount of coins that Ledger Nano is capable of storing?
The Ledger Live app will let you configure which (Live supported) coins you want to display in the app... and is NOT related to which coin apps you have loaded on the Ledger device itself... Except for the initial configuration of each coin "account" within the app... you have to have the coin app on the Ledger device to be able to create the account for that specific coin within Ledger Live:

However, after you have set a coin account up, it doesn't even matter if your Ledger device is even connected to the PC, you will be able to see all the (Live supported) coin accounts, balances and transactions for the accounts that you have already created.

I am weary of doing so as i hold a fair amount of BTC/BCH/XRP etc
What would you do as it is a PAIN uninstalling/installing coins it supports all the time.
Will the Ledger Live Manager negate this??
On insofar that you won't have to uninstall/install coin apps on the device to SEE your (Live supported) coin accounts that have already been created... but you'll still need to have the coin apps installed on the Ledger device to:
- Create an "account" in Ledger Live App for that specific coin
or
- Send Transactions for that specific coin

TL;DR:

Essentially, Ledger Live acts as a "watching-only" wallet... and it only needs the coin app installed during setup so it can properly generate the correct "xpub(s)" for that coin so it can create the right account(s) etc. Once setup with the xpub(s) imported, Ledger Live will open and only show what you have explicitly setup to show... regardless of coin apps installed on the device or if the device is even connected.

It's really easy. Once you downloaded and installed Ledger Live you will have to connect your device. Then you will also need to install the app for the altcoins you own ada-iota,etc. Pretty much like what we did (or still do) with the Chrome extension, just another user interface

See this page dedicated to Leger Live, there are a lot of "how to"

Hi All

I own BTC mainly but another 15 other alts and use a Ledger Nano where possible to store them.

I have NEVER installed Ledger Live Program and still use the old 'Ledger Wallet Bitcoin app' and Ledger Manager app....

Both are just Chrome apps.

I have had emails previously about upgrading/downloading and installing 'Ledger Live Manager'

Is it just as simple as downloading and it will work as normal and all coins will show in the app?

The reason i am asking is that i have coins Like ADA, IOTA etc that are still accessed using their individual apps/programs (they are still signed/accessed with my wallet/Ledger)

Will the Ledger Live Manager negate this??

Cheers guys
