When we hear about Africa most of us assume about the poverty or unemployment but honestly the kind of natural minerals they reserve they could be one of the richest nation but the problem over there is that neither government nor the citizens get benefited by their natural reserves due to warlords occupying it but do you think if government takes stern step and utilize the resource in the appropriate way and accepts bitcoin as a payment mode for exports then Africa can bloom again and this will help bitcoin if those products can be purchased using bitcoin so it will increase the trade which will benefit them in their GDP and will increase the demand for bitcoin thus triggering the price pump.

Yes, Africa is underestimated by those who don't know the potential,  but it is the best place for good ROI if you do the needful. But the issue with Africa using bitcoin as a means of payment is underpinned by the literacy level of the populace. Digital Currency usage requires a good literacy in the basic of computer operations, and this is not acquired by majority of Africans especially those in the rural areas and uneducated groups.Less bitcoin will boost the economy, though Africa is already among the top continent which uses cryptocurrency.

I don’t think so. The problem being that is the people itself. Even if Bitcoin is introduced with a good intention but if put in the wrong hands then it can be used to embezzle money from the people and use Bitcoin to escape using the anonymity that it offers.

I think the change should start with the people first before they can be ready for the new technologies by educating themselves.

I think Africa is only used as a place to adopt cryptocurrency and has a lot of coins developed, even though there are only a few places in Africa that can do projects like that and indeed there are some African regions that do not understand what cryptocurrency is but there are places that can be used to study and developing cryptocurrency technology.

in my opinion is not that simple because the problems experienced by African countries are very complicated. I think using Bitcoin will not be able to solve problems in Africa. in my opinion the first thing an African country government must do to escape poverty, unemployment and other problems is to improve education. when the human resources are well formed. then they can manage their natural resources to the full.

I'd say the government is pocketing enough to be part of the problem. No amount of money thrown into it and no amount of "efficiency" will solve the situation there if the institutions don't change.

Sure the governments can sell their goods for bitcoins (good luck with that) and then maybe hold on to some to get more money but do you really think that will trickle down to the population? Those resources are exactly the reason these countries are in this state - the government don't need the population to earn money. They can just hire a few people and extract the resources.

Africa is basically a great place, and truly they have lots of resources, but their problem is that they have foolish leaders. So, I won't blame them for facing poverty, because their leaders are the ones killing them, such great nations. If only they can come together and take down those evil leaders they have then they will see their economy booming.

Their leaders are so corrupt, all they are interested in when they are voted is just to be stealing from the country's purse and making themselves and their family rich. They don't build good schools for their people, but they send their children over to EU and US to study in great schools such as Harvard and Yale at the expense of their country, lol Grin.

Since, they value education that much, why don't they build such schools as Harvard in their own countries ? It's so shameful. These people have resources such as crude oil, but they don't build factories to refine them, rather they sell to other countries and buy back at a higher price. To me that's stupidity and the leaders are to be blamed. In this world our leaders are the ones killing us in most cases but we do nothing, sad truth.
Government are the major problem of the country, they are the ones that are so foolish and lack the control of their citizens and if you look at country like Nigeria that is blessed with highly intelligent people with the few off them that I have met, and if you study Nigerians very well, you will see that they are the ones actually doing very well more when they reach overseas to study, but their own government would not create enabling environment for them to study well.

The only ones that are trying are some of these private owned school, like on covenant school that I know, I think that they are of high standard like Harvard, just that they are quite expensive too which I even heard that their citizens could not afford it, I mean that average people, which is even owned by a church thee.

I am not aware of the exact situation from Africa, but I do know that Africa is full of riches including natural resources, fertile, unutilised lands and work force, but still most of them live like they are one century behind. Africa represents a big percent of the global surface, therefore big investments need to be done there. The potential isbhuge and Bitcoin can play an important rule in this. No need for banks anymore so the unbanked will be able to benefit from the economy and actually "save" or invest their work.

Yes Africa is a country that is viewed by other countries, but as much as Africa has the potential, both natural resources, human resources, and tourism and many more. It is unfortunate that this attention to Africa is arguably lacking, education, health, food, clothing, technology etc.
I see if Bitcoin/Cryptocurrency started to be used in my Africa it is a very good thing considering that the currency of Africa has a low value compared to other countries ' currencies. How is it?
For example for the tourism in Africa, the government or local managers can start using Altcoin (BTC, ETH etc.) as a pay ticket tool, and it can be done not only tourism, can apply to buy and sell natural resources such as iron, tin, gold, coal, and petroleum. Of course all these things are not easy to implement Cryptocurrency as an official tool for buying and selling in Africa, and desperately needing government support. Unimaginable when Crypto has been adopted as a substitute for classic money, Africa can become a high tech barren Planet.

However, the government support that the development of the vast natural resources of the continent badly needs is nowhere to be found. The continent is made even poorer because of the governments themselves which, instead of being responsible to look after the welfare of their own people, are the ones who are stealing the little money generated. The same governments are selling the iron, tin, gold, coal, and petroleum to foreign entities. Cryptocurrency cannot address all these difficult problems.

It is true that for problems, especially in Africa, there are indeed many, especially internal problems in the country itself, many governments are indeed carrying out corrupt practices, which are victims of society, crops are sold by the government itself for the benefit of a handful of parties. The government provides workers with low wages, of course it is very worrying so that the economy and technological progress there is relatively slow. And indeed Cryptocurrency is not a way out of the problems that exist in Africa, maybe my optimistic hopes if Africa has been able to evaluate the decline of their countries, the brand can take steps to use Crypto as an official medium of exchange. But it is unimaginable what if that is true Africa is a large Crypto consuming country, how can the people there slip away money easily, that's the negative side of Crypto  Smiley

I think you'd either have to really poorly informed and ignorant these days to assume anything about any country or region in the world anymore. You, for example, still talk about Africa as a nation when the concept is much larger than that. Continent? Region? The last person who talked about a single African nation in my memory, was Muammar Gaddafi;)

I agree, they got a lot of problems to fix. To be fair, a lot of those problems inherited or built in because of their colonial past, but also because of so many underlying needs -- basic health, basic education... etc.

Bitcoin is far, far from the solution they need. Not today anyway.

The problem of Africa is so complex that it needs to be approached from different sides at the same time and you could not have said it any better. If a solution is deployed which in this case bitcoin, it will only scratch the surface and not even move close to solution which is more fundamental. For a start, the larger population still live in poverty, there is high illiteracy facing the continent, there is dearth of infrastructure in addition to low penetration of civilization in some part of the continent. The worst of all is how the continent has been so unfortunate with bad leaders who are only about their pockets and the absence of structures and institutions to ensure the right things are done. Bitcoin is really far from solving its problem.

Most African countries have very good natural resources but their main problem is the high rate of bribery and corruption. Government officials embezzles with huge sums of state's  money yet nobody is really brought to book by the law. Substituting bitcoin for fiat currency can help curb all those escalating rates of theft from the nation's coffers. The reality of the problem is that, both the governments and warlords are all corrupt looking for their own selfish gains. What most African countries really need are working institutions void of governmental control which can make sure that everything is accounted for.

I live in Africa and bitcoin definitely makes a difference. I think people here are tired of bad investments because honestly investing in the countries companies is a bad idea and you will lose your money.
The government has a habit of destroying everything they touch or being completely useless. People are looking for a better place to put their money as the currency here is weak too.

Changing the "currency" without changing the governments, will not help the people of those countries. A country with a corrupt government

will not push any of the benefits to their citizens, because they will only make bigger profits for themselves. One of the benefits of Bitcoin is

that it is border-less, so the citizens can bypass all the restrictions and limitations that are enforced with fiat payment options. So we see a lot

of countries, using Bitcoin when trade limitations are forced on them.  Wink

Exactly, but you miss the point and that is that you are not changing the currency of the government but that of the people. bitcoin is free. Let the government play with their monopoly money.
You right bitcoin helps so much with trading and limitations. I can't imagine not using it.

I don't really understand Africa but it does have a lot of bad news portraying Africa.
First without mentioning Bitcoin, I think the most important thing to change Africa is the willingness of governments to increase knowledge or education for communities, with improvements that can encourage its communities to change their lives in a better direction. Using Bitcoin as an export payment method is impossible at the moment, many people think it could be a solution to a country's to changing economy, but we know that when it comes to a country it's a macro-economy, so use Bitcoin to change economy country will be hard to implemented.

It is not only Africa , but all the developing countries all around the world are being facing these issues like that since forever , you don't even know when the developed countries come and take credit for everything there and also at the same time they actually pay these developing countries to keep their nuclear waste and all .
This is actually a really bad idea for all the people living in the developing countries as whatever is happening is it's going just down and down for us .

The country belongs to the Africans but you can see most of the lands are already bought by the white men.
Leaders are corrupt. There is nothing like somehow. Media is controlled by them and it is a sad fact, we only see what they want us to see. Common people only knows what the government wants him to know. No authority really cares about public. They control us, they manipulate our economy and play with our lives. In order to get out of their claws, use bitcoin. Governments are never loyal with citizens.

Africa can be considered as the last frontier for Bitcoin and although adoption of cryptocurrency remains to be desired in this region, the big potential is here and just waiting to be tapped at the right time. Africa has a total population of 1,318,717,841 and this fact alone means a lot, the more people the more chances that a big chunk will be interested with Bitcoin. With 54 countries scattered all over the continent, with its very rich natural resources, I am not wondering why China has already taken a good sight of this part of the global map.

You said about the problems of Africa are very true. While the potential is there, the region has had been beset with so many huge problems and challenges that lead many people to sever poverty, malnutrition, political instability, pervading corruption and in may case people who are already tired and have given up to carve their bright future ahead. These people suffered from the visible lack of right leadership who can help them rise up from the quagmire they are in.

I can feel the pain suffered by people in Africa. We are all hoping that given the chance, Bitcoin can be of help to those who can be interested. As of now, the African continent is leading the way in the Google search for the term "bitcoin" but sadly there is a big gap in the use and adoption of this cryptocurrency. We are hoping that as years go on, things will be changing and that people will soon be entering the world of Bitcoin as a medium of exchange or payment and not just a store of value.

Africa still not popular with bitcoin and altcoin investment, less investor come from Africa and little ICO or IEO project build in Africa, we have give education with Africa country what the feature of bitcoin and altcoin become legal investment. How bitcoin price increase if holding for long time than they save money in bank. Promote bitcoin and altcoin is the way how to make crypto become popular in Africa.

I have seen a few ICO projects coming from South Africa. But you have a point here. Considering the huge population, the share of Africa in the cryptocurrency market is relatively minuscule. There are a lot of factors behind this low number. The ones that come to my mind right now are the lack of computer education, lack of government support and bureaucracy.

However, bitcoin could play a big part in making african countries thrive if the Africa country government legalize it.

The benefit of Bitcoin is that you don't need permission from your government to use it.

Do you seriously think that governments in African countries will legalize Bitcoin, a powerful tool empowering people to obtain financial freedom? I don't think so. They're rotten from inside and haven't done anything but avoid investing in education, because they wan't people to remain ignorant economically. Ignorance is a powerful weapon that silently does a lot of damage without people even realizing.

People have to do it all by themselves. Governments will not help them improve. We have enough empirical evidence backing that claim up in African countries.

Maybe it will be a big help though. But isn't it Bitcoin market could have a direct effect on their GDP. Besides they have to solve their economic problem first before diving right here in crypto. It might be help on the other hand but they have to be assured first for the basic problem. In addition they aren't totally in a situation wherein they have to depend at somepoint to cryptocurrency it is just they have to get rid of outlanders taking away the benefit of their own.

This can be possible, if and only if we will teach most of the percentage of their population on how to use cryptocurrency, and provide them the necessary gadgets they need to start it. But in my opinion, it will take time, as we need to consider that every vital needs - needs to be settled first before they adopt a technology that can transform the way how they live. We'll take it slowly in a sense that they will not feel the urge that we are forcing them to use crypto. Remember, it is for them in the first place.

Africa is the worst continent where you can ever think that they will whole heatedly accept bitcoin even if they know that it has economic benefit to them because, Africa has too many corrupt leaders, and I totally agree with you that Africa is very rich, they are rich in everything and it is as if God purposely blessed them with all those riches, but as they say that you cannot have your cake and eat it all.

It seem like Africans are cursed with every bad leaders, because most of their leader looks so corrupt and that is why their economy look like they are not growing, meanwhile they are really growing, but corruption would not allow the leaders to manage the economy well. If you now introduce bitcoin, when they know it will create transparency and allow people they are stealing from to have control of their money, do you think they will allow?

The blockchain technology could actually be the most helpful tool for the economic growth of developing countries in Africa but there are still lots of things to consider. They still lack pieces of equipment to pursue crypto adaption. I guess they still have to educate people on how to enrich their natural resources before jumping into digital currency. They still have a lot to improve and discover in their natural treasures so they would have the capability to adapt the latest technology for their country.
No doubt blockchain can bring economic revolution. African countries that actually top the list of corrupted countries, will get rid of this disease by blockchain. It can replace failing institutes, become an alternative source of capital, escape fluctuating currencies (hyperinflation and inflation), used in cross-border payments and many more. Bitcoin must also be used to solve money problems as it works hundred percent.

That's true that Africa is one of the most poor country all over the world because the government is controlling the production of goods and natural resources. If the Africans will be able to accept the bitcoin and cryptocurrency then maybe they can be able to increase their economic growth and their country's economy, if they accept it and regulates it they can start a trading and buying or selling goods through the help of bitcoin as their personal currency.

What does Bitcoin have to do with any of it? Do you think if citizens and government would start accepting Bitcoin, then suddenly all the corruption, wars, inequality would go away? Come on, Bitcoin is just a currency, it was created to solve the problem of banks and other middlemen, not make miracles. Even if you argue that Bitcoin adds transparency and thus can help keep the government accountable, it's still not a full solution - most of the time people know precisely about corruption, they just don't have the power to stop it.

From what I learned about most African nation is that the problem of the unemployment and poverty level there despite their land been rich with mineral resources was bad government cause things there was better when they are still under the British colonialism. I'm saying this cause I don't support the part of you saying neither government benefitted from their natural reserve. But, if their government endorse bitcoin people will be financial free and their country economic will grow which is what happen in Zimbabwe before their government ban crypto and exchange.

I sometimes find it really hilarious when people links bitcoin with something that doesn't even go with crypto currencies. Like how actually is it really going to help Africa by using bitcoin? What does bitcoin has to do with Africas natural resources?
To increase demand for bitcoin in Africa, they should be able to purchase it. I mean shouldn't they have the money to buy bitcoin?  Again, you should know those natural resources are not taken by the government or the warlords, its the leading countries out there that are keeping them suppressed.

The problem of Africa, it is not enough if only discussed, we should massively and for the solidarity of fellow human beings help solutions to the problem of poverty in Africa. Nearly 28 of the poorest countries in the world are in Africa and half of Africa's population lives below the poverty line without access to basic human rights namely food, clean water & housing. If we look at the problem of economic growth barriers in Africa are:
1. Factors of minimal investment figures in Africa, even if there is investment used for the public sector that is not important and inefficient
2. Factors in human resources, education, and health.
3. Military conflict and rebellion
4. Opening and technology education in Africa to open markets
5. Economic stagnation and economic and social inequality.

We can analyze why bitcoin has a place in Africa
- Low confidence in banks in Africa
- The majority of African governments are neutral towards the adoption of cryptocurrency

But whether adopting the cryptocurrency can solve the problem in Africa, I don't think it will look at the inhibiting factors of the African economy above.

Educations is the first step in order to enhance their knowledge about what they've really have inside this nation. I can agree to OP that in terms of natural resources they are rich but due to corruptions and those rich people around they are lack in terms of educating their-selves. Before they can
jumped to this new system, they need to start from getting good educations and from their they can enrich what they've deserve and not to allow
other people or their leaders to abused them. There's should be equality and give the people what they've really deserves.

I believe you meant Africa as a continent. Africa has about 54 countries. They are developing at their individual rates. They have many of those natural resources which are underused or abused due to corruption. Yet, many people in Africa have little access to basic needs, so Bitcoin is not their immediate problem. There are more pressing problems that Bitcoin.

However, diving into blockchain technology is what I believe can bring great changes to Africa. Many of the countries in Africa are already diving into the Blochchain technology. Although, very slowly, because of less commitment from the government.

For example, in Nigeria, there is the BlockchainNigeria group which brings Blockchain enthusiasts together. They have been engaging with the right institutions on how Blockchain could be leveraged. They even help train Blockchain developers. All these, with less support from the government. If there is much investment on these vibrant Blockchain developers and enthusiasts, things will move.

Nigeria's interest in Bitcoin and Blockchain is probably what led to its recent Fiat listing on Binance.

Africa is filled with dedicated and intelligent people, but with little support.

Residents of Africa have rich reserves of minerals, precious metals. Which in their volumes can not be compared with Yakutia. Their main problem, and maybe dignity, is good for them. Fresh vegetables and fruits all year round, fishing and hunting. If the people were interested in production, they would flourish.

I agree.

With proper teaching on agriculture, Africans could cultivate their vast land and plant fruits, vegetables, and they could also build barns to start livestock. It is the easiest way and old way so they will not need a diploma on this one to make it works, all they need is funds, and of course the support of their Government to make this thing happen.

Iglesia Ni Cristo, a religious group (Church of Christ) make the first move to help Africa, and teaching them, supporting them on eco-farming for them to have a job to sustain their family and self needs.

I was thinking maybe there could be help from all around the world? Bitcoin world (and crypto in general) could fund billions of dollars for stupid ICO's and that means they can afford couple million dollars for nothing. There could be hundreds of thousands of dollars easily. That is why I think if we could get money from globally then we can help smaller nations and even tribes in Africa.

There are so many nations that if you use like half a million dollars could plant trees and get water sources and basically turn into a greener and more watery place, all the need is actually solvable with money. So long story short, crypto could actually save these nations, all we need is global funding and it is actually easy and quite easy to achieve if we want to.

In my opinion, if directly allow buying something with Bitcoin there will be massive inflation where their currency is not in use and more dominant use of Bitcoin as currency exchange.
Should they adopt a blockchain like China and some countries that have successfully used blockchain in their government? and other cryptocurrencies become investment means that can help unemployment as they are.

yes I agree with you even though Africa has a lot of natural resources but if it is not managed properly it will be useless. most of the population is still in poor condition and the economy is also slow. but I'm positive maybe by implementing blockchain and bitcoin can make the African country better. because by applying the blockchain system can reduce corruption. at least maybe bitcoin and blockchain can drive the african economy.

There will be a blockchain conference in Africa next year, https://blockchainafrica.co/.

So I do hope that it will open doors to many companies around there to really used and take advantage of this technology. But I do agree that the main problem here is corruption, and as much as blockchain can be seen as a game changer today, if people behind the governments are full of corrupt officials, African nations will be having a hard to bounce back and on the contrary they could sink even further because of this corruption.

Corruption is really a big dilemma from this region. Though corruption is common in other countries, but their region is quite different. With blockchain technology, transparency will be practiced if in case they will implement this tech to their government transactions. I know, it is a long way to go but it is already a good start. Opening their doors to blockchain will somehow change their perspectives on how to deal with government transactions.

It's really sad to see their situation eventhough they have rich natural reserves

It may seem like so from a distance, but most of the areas with relatively easy to extract resources such as Gold and oil are in the hands of foreign governments and private investors.
Exactly. It's not sure they are lacking technology, or lack manpower, etc. They are a huge nation that could definelty rise up to the ranks of China/America and their recent growths in GDP reflects so.

Corruption is huge in Africa. A lot of the government are all bought and paid for by other companies and it's impossible to get anything done unless you make a "donation" to certain people.

African countries have been underselling themselves for decades now. For every dollar they get for their Gold and oil rich areas, hundreds are being extracted to end up in the pockets of governments and investors outside the continent of Africa. No wonder most African countries are so poor. In the crypto world we refer to this as getting yourself rekt.

Venezuela for example has the largest oil reserve in the world, but is going through a horrible recession with mind-boggling hyper inflation.  Roll Eyes

Exactly, It's really sad to see their situation eventhough they have rich natural reserves and moreover you might see inequality like one person will strive to get bread in his table wherein others live in palaces and enjoys their life king size especially politicians and war lords. The worst part over there is that they don't listen to public and just crush the protests or demands with iron fist. UN needs to intervene and do some justice as Africa can be a golden valley of the world if the resources are utilized in proper way and spent on public infrastructure and welfare.

Their Government could start it with fiat, their Government is too weak on my opinion to put a resolve on their general problem, resulting to their citizens to move on their own. Those who have the power to mine their minerals are abusing it, making it illegal to make more money, the exploitation of their minerals is the problem, being in a poor country makes you selfish.

More than 50% of their population is only making below $1 per day, imagine how ironic is that. The majority don't have the power, and those who have the power are not using it to benefit the majority instead they use it to benefit only themselves.

Africa is a very rich continent, but there are a lot of coercive leaders among the African countries which do not care about their people.
I think that this can change only by uniting all the African nations and protect against them. Taking control of the political scheme will reverse this condition and of course Bitcoin might be proven a strong tool-weapon for this revolution.

Africa needs to develop other factors first before focusing on technological advancement. The main problems they're facing probably are poverty and education which the government of Africa needs to focus on first. If education will be provided to the youth, then it's up to the youth how they will contribute to their country on making it better in the future. If they were given a good education then they can learn the knowledge about technology that they need first before understanding blockchain and bitcoin. Because it will be hard for them to adopt bitcoin when they don't know how it works.

I think the whole world is a treasure. You just need to find a good treasure hunter who needs to find the treasure hidden. Africa's natural resource hasn't been utilized properly so far and as far as there is western domination Africa won't develop anytime soon. You would just see this major world countries buying all these natural resources and manufacturing the resource in their countries and then developing their own countries. Only a proper development of education in the country will bring technological advancement in the country and only then you will see how will they adopt bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.

The people should unite as one, give importance to their cultural values and stop the hatred that resulted to long ethnic wars. Naturally Africa is very blessed continent in terms of natural resources, they just have to fight for it for their benefit Blockchain is just a bonus.
Their should be someone in every government in Africa who have knowledge in technology to be able for them to use their resources, they should use their resource for their peoples benefit. Applying blockchain can help if it's really designed to benefit every country in Africa. Someone who is smart enough to explain and show it's potential for their continent can make a big change in their today's status.

I think there are several blockchain projects in Africa before, I wonder what happens. What we really need right now is really an adoption and Africa is a very good candidate to utilize this new financial technology. They are an emerging market and also has exploding mobile user growth which means millions can use this mobile/crypto wallet and explore its potential, ease of use,and convenience. The African continent can really benefit from this technology.

I do believe as well that Africa is a very rich country when it comes to natural resources. It may seems like a poor country, it's because they lack of development. But if they were to utilize their resources very well, they can really make improvements about their economy. But I don't think that bitcoin will be the main purpose for their development. Because if their government knows how to maximize what they have, they can make an improvement and development even without bitcoin. Bitcoin is just an additional to a country's technological development.

I don't know which Africa you talk about but the African countries I know that have the numbers to make the push are not ruled by warlords. For example South Africa is not rule by a warlord, Nigeria which is the most populous African nations is not also rule by a warlord the same goes for Ghana among other countries. The problem with Africa is the lack of adequate leaders and the structures is not enough to push for the expected change. Majority of African countries didn't get independence until the 1940s-1960s where USA has had hers for centuries and they have been developing and putting structures in place till this day and other advanced countries across the world. Until when this fundamental things are put in place, Africa will still be rallying within the same space but with time, it get to achieve its goals.

This is true, Africa is the continent which is covered with natural resources. The lack of governance and the divide and rule system made them to suffer. Finally to evade the natural resources the first world countries created fight within them based on religion and other issues. If the natural resources were used, or channeled in the right way Africa might have stood strong in its economic development. Even now there are people who are good enough and wealthy enjoying good health and wealth in a better margin than the grown countries.

I think that what sets back Africa from improving their living is primarily because of corrupt practices, not only within their government but other countries that pressures them and uses their resources to their advantage while still making Africa's economy down. Capitalists rule the country for natural resources, and leaders blinded by greed and do decisions for his own good rather than for the people is what's stopping a country to thrive.

Bitcoin could help but on government level first, normal people can't have access to the tools used to even know what it is. It could be used for transactions outside of their country. But as stated earlier, you can't solve the problem if the leader who is suppose to act, does not even want it because of greed.

There is an election to these African countries but most of the time the officials who won are the ones that really are corrupt and this has been going on to poor countries. It will took them centuries to finally see the truth they are lied and manipulated believing EU had helped them. For bitcoin and blockchain to be able to help, they wold have to fix the government first otherwise it will still be mess.

It's a country with huge amounts of potential, and they definitely have a shit-ton of natural resources, and we can see them living up to their potential in recent years, due to the constant growth in GDP.

Even though Africa has one of the biggest populations, and has a lot of people in it using BTC as a payment option and storage of value, their biggest problem would be infrastructure. It's being conquered by the companies working there, and the government haven't really been of much help and haven't really been able to help people there - mostly relying on governments.

I don't think the government elite in African countries think it's very difficult to improve the economical situation there, but just that it will cost a lot of money.... money they rather enrich themselves with.

It has been happening for decades now that African countries have been going backwards economically despite the potential that has always been there.... people there need less government to improve, not more.

What do you expect? The continent has been exploited for a century now, and to be able to get back on track, it will take centuries as well. And the problem is that as the economic and political turmoils sinks, and so as their hope of revival.

Government officials are corrupt, rich getting richer, and the poor become poorer. That's the sad state of Africa, although many inter-cooperation from other countries to help them alleviate their problems, it might takes years and years just to rehabilitate them.

Bitcoin's usefulness in the economy is that it is limited and everything is in front of the eye. How do you think BTC can help any country that can not mine its natural minerals? I am sorry, but I think the BTC is capable of providing other benefits to the economy. Making some decisions by governments could improve its economy. If so much minerals lies beneath the soil, the only culprit is the government.

The condition of the African continent is really pitiful. More than just Bitcoin or even blockchain, the Africans should try to revisit their very basic personal values and cultures. I don't think Bitcoin or blockchain can address the most pressing issues of the land. There is widespread poverty, corruption, wars, illiteracy, lack of basic needs, warlordism, and many more social, political, and economic problems. Africa is blessed in terms of natural resources but look at how they fare in their daily lives. They should learn to unite and move forward as one blood. Right now, the foreign companies and governments are exploiting their resources indiscriminately without even improving the lives of those people around.
