I also find the redirecting a hassle when reporting. As suchmoon suggested, it'll be great to have an in-tab icon to click the reason for the report and submit. We could also redirect to a review page after reports are submitted, soft of like the merit system, but only for the most recent reports (or reports which no action has been taken on).
Sort of like you just reported this post by _________ in Re: _______.

This was the user can simply go back to that specific post and report more on that thread or close the tab.

I think you can ask @Cyrus to add some more to this code[1] that used for reporting.
If there's enough interest, we might turn the OP into a collection of userscripts (with small features that might actually be added to the forum in the long run if they turn out to be really useful for a lot of people).
The comments above may be used to improve the quality of the userscript.
I do not report a lot, but adding enhance Merit userscript has improved my sending of Merit, so I hope that the simple improvement in the way of reporting improves its quality.

I'd still prefer the original re-direction to the reported post even if the current workarounds are just navigating back or reporting in a different tab.

After all, it's more intuitive on mobiles.

Even better would be to have inline reporting that doesn't navigate away from the page at all, sort of like the quick edit button does:
yes, that is a better idea
make the "report to moderator" link to open an (inline) text input to enter a report comment
once the post has been reported then disable that link and change to "reported"
that would make reporting job easy and prevent double reports

It was quite annoying for me as well, and I have opened a thread regarding that issue previously, Why redirect on specific board after submit a report from patrol? , suggesting to OP you may use search button before crate a new thread. Because if there is similar thread exist then new thread is unnecessary. You can participate and discuss on existing thread.

However, I had not got any answers from admins. So I am reporting by open new tab. And it's become a temp solution as well. But it's quite complicated on mobile during report spam.

My way of getting with that is to click the "Report to Moderator" button with my mouse wheel , and it will immediately open a new tab in your browser. I think that could easily save time rather than multi-clicking the links or something like that. I tend to report it immediately rather than stack up on a lot of posts to report because I might get confused about what post I'm currently reporting.

You could hold left click on the Back Button on your browser to see the pages you have visited previously and Use the Mouse wheel again on what link you want to visit again, then it would open a new browser tab.

No need for a new icon or new code because with all available codes and features in the forum, you can do it already.

Right click on the Report to moderator button, then choose "Open link in new Tab" (don't left click on that button). Then you will be navigated to the report page and you won't lose your current page (with the post you are reporting to moderator).

It reminds me about the merit button. With it, you have two options to do but both of them navigate you to a new page (merit page). As a result, with merit button, I only do Left click.
- Left click
- Right click to "Open link in new Tab".
I think if the Report to moderator can operate this way, it is good but it is not a vital thing because as being pointed out, you can do this step above.

I usually right click the report to moderator button and open it on new tab and usually it works like that, theymos will not change that way simply if there's already a solution for that. Theymos has a long backlog of concerns need to issue and fix for the forum than that imo.

You already know a good workaround and I think the best thing you can do is make it habitual to right-click the "report to moderator" and open it on a new tab.
If that thread has so much spam to report to I usually do that but even just a few I'd still do and one more thing I usually familiarize first is the account of the user that I wanted to report so that it wouldn't be a hassle to go back again. Or simply highlight first the post you want to report if it's just a few that will give you hint to the post you've just reported. Still, don't worry about your report history just be reminded on the reminder that says on your report page.

I know the solution is very simple and I can open the report page in a new tab. But most of the times I forget that. I can also use  "back" button after reporting. Despite of these, I think it would be better and more convenient if the report button navigates the user to the reported post not to the board contains the post. At least, it can save mare time.

Then it's not the forum's fault on why you think the "report to moderator" system isn't convenient on your side. You already know a good workaround and I think the best thing you can do is make it habitual to right-click the "report to moderator" and open it on a new tab, it's really simply and all it takes is just a habit to do it and it doesn't really need for the admins to change the whole reporting system for your own personal convenience.

The "submit" button when reporting a post navigates the user to the board that contains that post.
In my opinion, it would be more convenient if that button navigate the user to the post that was reported.

Sometimes, while I am reading posts in a thread, I decide to report a post. Reporting the post causes me to leave the thread and I have to find the thread again.
Sometimes I want to report two consecutive posts. After I report the first one and I open the thread again, I forget which post I reported.

I know the solution is very simple and I can open the report page in a new tab. But most of the times I forget that. I can also use  "back" button after reporting. Despite of these, I think it would be better and more convenient if the report button navigates the user to the reported post not to the board contains the post. At least, it can save more time.
