I just hope that it wouldn't be delayed any further when we enter the year 2020 because it's almost upon us now, it's been a long while and although I understand that it just couldn't have possibly launched with all the legal issues, the delay is getting out of hand, anyways let's just wait and see how it goes.

How come the drama never ends? Yesterday was Libra, and now Ton! Although there are many enthusiasts, but if legal issues are never resolved, I am sure this project will never be launched. It looks like we have to demonstrate in front of the SEC office, and ask the SEC chairman to be demoted  Angry

I thought I saw something somewhere about the investors agreeing that the token launch should be delayed, I think majority of the investors agreed before it was implemented though, but this telegram TON token has taken a while, while the hype surrounding it is massive,I don't think this constant delays are conducive to it's growth.

Telegram isn't even a stablecoin, yet governments are opposed to it just as much as they are against Libra. This just shows that the problem isn't in fact that coins are tied to monetary value, but rather that private companies are trying to act as payment processors without getting proper permits first. I won't be surprised if this TON will never go live, things aren't looking well for them so far.

Surprised by the last-minute restriction on the sale of gram tokens in the US, telegram is set to delay launching a Tron of the network until next year. The company told the New York Court that all operations could be ended with a gram until legal issues surrounding the coin offering were resolved.

They are interesting guys fighting for our freedom and privacy.
And now they are waiting for permission to issue their coins.
I think the project is buried with this act.
Why not make an anonymous coin?

They postponed all further operations including the mainnet launch until May 2020. Moreover, a lot of investors from USA want to withdrawal from Telegram because they are afraid of sanctions. But in any case, Telegram will find enough more investors to keep developing the project.

I do not think they will go ahead to raise fund after the sanction. Just as investors are bound by law, they too are bound. Had it been that they are not under the control and order of law, they would not have brought SEC in the picture in the first place. If they still go ahead to raise the fund, without resolving the issue on ground, investors might not trust them.

Their legal team should have anticipated this move by the US SEC. Now that they are in this situation, they can either have a long battle in the court or they can just refund the US investors and cut all the drama then move on. Tough luck for the US citizens but it is part of the risk they took when they invested.

ya i think they realized they missed the boat
i wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing dosen't even happen now
same with Libra
good for them tho, telegram is a quite simple program/service
them trying to sell shares for it for billions of dollars was insane, i think they realized it was gonna flop in market at that evaluation

As someone who has been using telegram for many years, I quite like Telegram. Compared to WhatsApp, it is obvious that it is far superior to it. Rather than being privacy-oriented, the opportunities the project offers are quite extensive.

That's why I would love Telegram to issue its own cryptocurrency. I'm guessing they're going to offer a lot of different innovations along with GRAM. I hope they resolve the issues of regulation as soon as possible.

There is no doubt for Telegram will find the replacement of these investors or even these investors themselves will join it again if they are able to withdraw their money right now.
but the main case here is not about the investor or money but legalization from the regulator. Even if they are postponing the operation until next year, nobody can guarantee us the regulator will not do this again. They need to find a way to solve this problem permanently and this is hard to achieve.

all the centralized coins are starting to face very serious legal issues and i would expect many of the to fail before their launch and never be created. this is mostly happening in US but generally no government is willing to allow any random company to start creating their own token which is exactly like "printing money" out of thin air. they fight them because they are centralized and can easily be shut down.
