Its very transparent scam, good thing that you did asked here first but even if you didn’t ask its too obvious that you will not notice the scheme. Who the hell in the world will give you a large amount of money but then asking you to deposit 0.01 Btc? Don’t make sense.

OP, how old are you? Did you create an account today while hiding your main one? You didn't ask yourself why would a stranger pay you such sums? No offense, when I read such topics, I just grab my head. As long as there are human greed and stupidity, the same number of scammers will celebrate their victories.

That is off topic, these informations will help others when they search Google, so they don't get scammed. And regarding giving money for free, I have done that, gave to people that needed it, not to scammers, I don't have such a dark view of people like you do and it has helped me in life.

Indeed, I believe the way they would proceed if I were to deposit the said amount would be to not let the entire amount show in my dashboard, after which they would probably say that I need to send more because it has to be exactly 0.01.

The invite included a promo code which when used added 0.29 BTC to the new account.
I tried to withdraw, which prompted me to deposit 0.01 BTC to verify my account. I thought to check here first, does anyone know anything about this?

Ask yourself basic questions:
- Why would somebody give away $20 000 per person?
- Why would they need a deposit of 600$ when they are giving you that much, won't 1$ be sufficient?
- How is sending money through BTC a way of verifying , and verifying ..what?

It's a well-known scam, there are hundred and thousands of those websites spamming social networks from telegram to tinder, once you will deposit 0.01 they will ask for more, then more than more, till you either realize its a scam or you turn penniless

Have you tried their website? There is even a chat in there, and I actually deposited 0.001 BTC to test, and it added to my account.

They can add 20 trillion to that dashboard, you will not see a penny back.

Look at the about us page:
https://aionrox.com/about
Now there can be the possibility that bitlegioncoin is the legit one

ZERO chances.

This news site that you posted about, seems to have posted a couple of articles that link to bitlegioncoin recently. This is again suspicious because who is cannot lookup bitlegioncoin - seems like ICANN says that the domain is not registered. Huh

I did a who is search on newspay and they relatively new too.

Code:
Registrar Info
Name NAMECHEAP INC
Whois Server whois.namecheap.com
Referral URL http://www.namecheap.com

Important Dates
Expires On 2021-11-04
Registered On 2020-11-04
Updated On 0001-01-01

Bicocity and newspay are getting linked on SEO because they both have posted about bitlegioncoin in the past. These are some news articles sites and they after often known to promote sites with a disclaimer.

Now there can be the possibility that bitlegioncoin is the legit one and aionrox is the clone scam site or both are scams being promoted by these news sites.

Good luck on getting a reply to that email. If the second case it true, then its like asking the scammer if they are a scammer or not. Either of these cases if you do get a reply, they will claim to not be a scammer.

I understand what you are saying, I am just getting more confused the more I look into this, it seems linked to Bitlegioncoin, which has some articles on https://bitcocity.com/ is the same website as I logged in to that website (bitlegioncoin.com) with the same account.

EDIT: I sent an email to the person that wrote the article, I will update you with their response (This is the article https://newspay.net/bitcoin-less-risky-than-tesla-ethereum-at-usd-10500-more-news/).

Look at the who.is data from https://who.is/whois/aionrox.com
Code:
Important Dates
Expires On 2022-03-19
Registered On 2021-03-19

The domain was registered just 6 days ago and they claim to be running for a long time already on their  "About" page with feats from the year 2017. Does that sound trustworthy? No. Because scammers run such sites commonly registering new domains and using their old methods to scam users.

I suggest you not to send any more money to the site. The number of red flags is too many. Still it is your choice.

The account says that I cannot withdraw because the account has over $10k, which is the reason why I need to transfer 0.01BTC to verify. Have you tried their website? There is even a chat in there, and I actually deposited 0.001 BTC to test, and it added to my account.

Reading what you have wrote, this sounds like a scam.

Firstly did that username not make you suspicious? You cannot trust anyone on the internet to give you free money because that is not how the world works. The free money is the greed that will make you listen to them and send them money to "unlock" your withdrawal and the real scam is that fee that they tell you to pay.

Anyway report that user on discord too if they still havent blocked you or your havent deleted their contact. But it does not matter much because they will create new accounts soon.
