Airbnb would be one of the genuinely useful merchant use cases considering how abroady it is. Unlike Steam the cross currency thing can add up. However Expedia didn't exactly set the world alight with their experiment but they didn't seem too enthusiastic anyway.

As per various news sources there are speculations that Airbnb will be next in the line to accept Bitcoin (crypto currency) as payment method after PayPal integrated it.

I feel Airbnb will accept Bitcoin to boost their own business as well since travel industry is the most hard hit during pandemic and I am sure more will follow especially businesses like eCommerce and digital based.

What's your opinion ?

Previously Airbnb services can be paid with AirBnb gift cards that you can buy on FoldApp. However, I can't see AirBnb option at FoldApp now.

I live in a tourist destination area where AirBnb is a common thing. However, bitcoin was banned to be a currency since 2017 here.
I don't think AirBnb x Bitcoin will be widely adopted.

Interesting, I wanna see where this IPO is headed towards. They are seeking a BILLIE dollars, and that ain't no small amount mfucker, not during the covid fuckall pandemic. Also let's be real. It is a hit or miss scenario for sure, but even if it hits, it ain't gonna be no homerun I will tell you that.

Within the pages of the Airbnb prospectus, the company mentions considering technologies like blockchain, cryptocurrencies, artificial intelligence (AI), and the “ability to integrate new or emerging payment methods.”
What even does this mean. They are considering technologies like AI, and do what? Is this their pitch for IPO? A goddamn 4th grader could do a better pitch. In their whole prospectus they mentioned crypto once. ONCE. Y'all are making a too big of a deal on this.

Airbnb has successfully launched an IPO and touched on cryptocurrency adaptation...
https://news.bitcoin.com/airbnb-ipo-prospectus-says-future-success-means-adapting-to-cryptocurrencies/ accepting Bitcoin as payment may not be due to price volatility issues but receiving a stable coin or another cryptocurrency is still possible and hopefully, it will happen in the near time.

Wait until they make an announcement.

Just like the rumors about PayPal which has startled the community all of a sudden, they were the ones to confirm it.

travel does not suffer from problems in finding capital or payments, but because of the restrictions imposed on them, and I do not expect many to pay using bitcoin because it has become an investment more than it is money.

Also, the profits of the transport depend on stability, so even if crypto are accepted, they will be converted into dollars directly.

up to that time it is a fake news

How airbnb will going to accep bitcoin ? Will be work like exchange office? Accept btc and pay local currency to landlord? If it so, they can be damaged by currency fluctuations. Probably they wont accept btc at least now. But maybe they will accept stablecoin in the future.

do you mean this?

https://news.bitcoin.com/airbnb-ipo-prospectus-says-future-success-means-adapting-to-cryptocurrencies/
https://www.coindesk.com/airbnbs-ipo-prospectus-says-firm-may-consider-crypto-and-blockchain

they said that the "their success will depend on their ability to adapt to new emerging technologies like cryptocurrency and such etc...". but they also said that "it might become too costly and may not be successful". so yeah, they are considering and it is a good start.

PayPal does not allow you to use Bitcoin as a currency, they just allow you to invest in it on their platform. Maybe in the future they will try to allow payments with it, but it's still too early to speculate about that. So, Airbnb or any other company can't rely on PayPal here.

The idea that businesses will adopt Bitcoin to boost themselves is very old, and it had never proven true so far - companies like Steam or Microsoft didn't witness any increase in sales when they allowed Bitcoin payments. Maybe it will change in future, but it won't happen soon.

Thanks for the correction but I don't think all the businesses will be adopting Bitcoin to boost their sales it's rather to ensure they have all the option available for wide range of customers, we may consider normal wallet payment options as an example wherein once one business or stores start accepting a particular payment method others will follow the same in order to stay upto date and to amle sure they don't lag behind. Even if a business adopts Bitcoin as payment method they might not expect immediate boost in sales but gradually they might notice the inflow through Bitcoin and there are platforms like Airbnb which will be greatly benefited by this move considering their nature of business if the speculations are true

Airbnb has been in some troubles with this pandemic, now the houses need some extra requirements to accept customers, and with all the paranoid people stop using this kind of service and move back to the classic hotels.

But BTC could be a nice move on their side to bring the service back. Let's see if they start accepting it.

On the one hand, it is convenient, especially if it will accept not only bitcoins, but also other cryptocurrencies. On the other hand, this company requires passing KYC, which does not suit everyone. But in any case, this will have a positive effect on bitcoin holders - price of this coin will grow again.
When something is added to the business it'll be tested for the effective functioning. If there is good response in the global market automatically further list of cryptocurrencies gets added. Initially the top listed cryptocurrencies will gets added to the network, and further some plans to have their own cryptocurrency. AirBnB won't get into some sort of business in coin creation.

If that were legal, then surely Airbnb would easily include Bitcoin in the general payment method. Currently there are a lot of rich people because of Bitcoin transactions, they are all high-end customers, so accepting Bitcoin payments will bring them a lot of benefits.
I also want to try a Bitcoin payment once during my travels, as it does not need to go through cash exchange and can be paid quickly with no problems.

Rumors would be rumors but possibly they would recognized bitcoin yet it had been adopted recently by big companies such as Paypal. Then they would definitely think
that they can try it out too but doesn't mean that bitcoin will be saving up their business or to this industry.

This is just like adding up a new way payment system not on making the demand of air transport to be high.So that's really a wrong perception.

Nothing will be surprising if they would be the next to accept bitcoin specially now that its exposure had somewhat being recognized by the masses.

"Speculations" - It's either a news or just a fake story. Could you link to the so called news sources where they mentioned about AirBnB accepting bitcoins?

I think exactly the opposite. Why would they implement or release new features when the industry is already been hit and there is less demand. Not like due to pandemic use of cryptos commercially went high. Flawed logic.

This is pure speculation at this point, as there are no hints from the company itself towards accepting or even integrating bitcoin and crypto payments on their platform. I'm pretty sure hosts would still love to accept easy to liquidate cash for maintenance and other stuff for their places, which is a tad different when compared to bitcoin. Most moves made by some companies which involves crypto at this point is basically FOMO, since bitcoin is taking off once more and they want to rake in some for themselves while it still lasts. The likes of Square, PayPal, and other companies however, is a different story since they can gobble up the losses should bitcoin crumble the next day.
