Akon has done a lot for Africa in humanitarian work, especially building a massive solar power plant.
A lot of currencies in Africa are worthless, this could be a great use for crypto.

Akon is a famous celebrity and his involvement in the world of cryptocurrency will make many people interested in investing in crypto. More and more celebrities are endorsing a project and I think this is a good development going forward.
Looking at the date that this post was released, you will see that it has been over a year and till date, I have not seen or heard any development about the project, if the project really have a good influence of Akon on it, I believe that it would have grown further than this, but ICO is still being treated as the same, irrespective of what any celebrity or any public figure thinks, most investor are still lacking the interest thinking that they are just here to use their name to also make money and then exit the market.

Most of these popular people, if they really care about the cryptocurrency sphere, they should use more of their influence to actually push for regulation because it is only regulation that can help in winning the trust of investors again.

I saw him (Akon) in a video of a summit that was held at Malta recently, with the likes of Ian Balina, but I was wondering if he really knew much about what was bring discussed. Yes, he might have a little knowledge about blockchain and cryptocurrency, but what does he know about blockchain and how projects are being executed.
Akin is a good person, but those working with him might just want to use the advantage of his influence to siphon some money.

Yes, the blockchain will certainly find its place and the infrastructure and financial system in African countries but we must also change something else

The biggest mistake about cryptocurrencies is to think of it as a goal.
But cryptocurrencies can only be a means to build a more beautiful world.
Therefore, the world cannot be saved only with cryptocurrencies, but the whole financial system can be reorganized.

Akon together with other celebrities like Etoo have been stars of the African continent especially in their respective countries. Most currencies in Africa have truly become worthless for instance due to the high inflation rate and the higher export rate at which most African countries import from the foreign countries. Through the introduction of a commonly accepted cryptocurrency hopefully this would stop the inflation and curb the bribery and corruption in some of these African country.

It was China and then it was Turkey and now it's celebrities too? The Chinese are holding it down for the Asians and the Turks are holding it down for Africans, awaiting to see who blinks first in Europe. What would really be the usecase of the Akoin Cryptocurrency? Or would it just be another shitcoin that would be forced down our throats just because it is enforced by a celebrity?

This won't be the first time such lies have been used as a cover story to scam millions of Africans or the cryptocurrency community in general. We had similar story with the like of Floyd Mayweather, DJ Khaled and the most recent Ronaldinho all promising to change the industry with their self proclaim cryptocurrency or coins they endorse. They all turned out to be scam with the Ronaldinho cryptocurrency turning out to be just a ponzi scheme shitcoin.

Akon might mean well because from his humanitarian services we can all see he has the interest of Africans at heart but what does Akon know about cryptocurrency? Those sponsoring this project are those who'll benefits mostly from the million Akon's reputation will be fetching them. Don't fall victim to this type of scams, even bitcoin can't serve Africa as a continent only its citizens can save themselves when they realize they have the power to do so. Cryptocurrency is just a currency on a blockchain and not some God economy saver as it's presume to be by many. Until we realized this, the scammers would still be taking advantage of our ignorance to make millions/billions of dollars. Be vigilant, if it's too good to be true then it probably isn't true.

You are on point because this is not the first time similar attempt was made to save Africa on the blockchain.

The problem with africa is not lack of funds but mismanagement and extremely bad leadership.

Regrettably nothing great can work in Africa because of the extremely greedy leaders.

African leaders only complete projects on papers only and nothing good to show physically.

There is no much information about the project, its only projects Akon is helping the African nation to save themselves from further inflation,so it must be a decentralized crypto. If it is a centralized crypto then it will go in the same way as their fiat went.
