Suing could be a good idea but only if there is a chance to win. Airlines never offer hefty amount to their crashes. Have you even seen government pouring millions in disasters? No, it never happens. According to them 1500 is he average price of a person or what they can afford.

Well, the airlines has so much money it can pay for them if it wants to do that. This airline Alaska Airlines has marketcap of $4.3 Billion.

It can afford to pay them more then $1500 but they will fight in court to not. It is so sad some of those people are going to need alot of years of therapy to pay by themself.

We saw this what happened, these people almost did die in the sky. And now the airline is only offering them $1500. I think these people must sue the airline for more money.
Thats a too small amount for a life threatening situation and I wish  passenger will not just accept this offer though there are move that their attorney is acting on

Passengers onboard the Alaska Airlines flight that lost its door plug mid-flight were offered a paltry $1,500 for the terrifying ordeal — but an attorney believes they’re in a prime position to bring lawsuits against the airline for a larger payout.

so with this action the airlines will not just take advantage of what their passenger experienced .

$1500 is standard flight delay/error rebate..handled by the in-airport flight attendants/agents

the real compensation for the specific issue is a separate compensation plan that comes later, usually handled by the airlines insurers.

I think the people sitting closer to the gaping hole should get more than the people further away...  It was a good thing it happened so early, or else seat belts may have been off.

How much stimulus or coercion money was paid to everyone who was forced to put their health at risk for an experimental injected drug? They were told to take the shot or lose their jobs. Many small businesses were shut down. It's not exactly an apples to apples comparison, although there are similarities.

So I'm thinking many may take that amount, without any litigation necessary.
and besides 1500 dollars is not that small when in terms of financial help and who can spend more money having a lawyer to sue the airlines?

when that money can easily be use for their needed in life so I assume that many of them will take that money like what you said mate.
