I can't believe it, how they manage to be in play store and beat all the security process? That's very odd, to think that the real chat deny having any app and yet their app is on play store, this should be reported immediately before lots of people fall victim.
What security process you talking about? I don't think that play store has some kind of security that detect cloned applications pal, you can try build a application and list it on playstore yourself, its very easy and doesn't have some kind of verifications to do so

Playstore think that it's a real one since there's no official app coming from the real developer released yet that's why it was approve to be listed there, that's why a massive report is helpful so that google will take an action and the fake app will deleted on Playstore. And concern people should report it so that there's no one will get victimize by that dangerous app there.

Back in my XDA forums days and being an Android enthusiast, it's because when the app is uploaded, it has no dangerous or alarming code***.

After approval and a successful listing, developers will now put a mandatory update to that application and that contains those malicious codes.

But that knowledge of the mind was around 5-6 years ago and GooglePlay should at least improved their system now to track down sh*t applications. GooglePlay is not really a 100% safe platform. Because of this, users themselves should need to adjust.

This is a fake Aave wallet, could be hard for newbies to know but I can easily figure it out with the logo, it's better to download apk files for any projects website instead of playstore this days, just imagine if the fake wallet logo is exact same thing with the original, I would have been fooled myself, official sources are the safest way to download apps

Erase google playstore from your mind, do not use this platform for downloading any apps that have something to do with money and assets because they can be fake, google team aren't doing anything about it, even few fake apps are been reported but google never took them down
Yup. It is advisable that don't ever download any unknown source of crypto related app on Google Playstore. You're likely to download the false and fake one without knowing that it's not supported officially. What OP did is correct, for newbies who have such the same curiosity and directly downloading apps on Google Playstore, if that app like for Aave has an official telegram channel or a social media account that you can ask, don't hesitate to ask them.

Be also aware that even the social media accounts and telegram channels, scammers are also there. Visit the official website first to see what are their official accounts. Any wallet, any exchange app, defi app and others, be mindful before downloading any of them.

Two years ago you can just go on playstore and type search the name of any mobile wallet you are looking for, both old or new and you will have confident download for use not now things have changed a lot, you can't easily tell which app is the real one unless the scammers did a wacked job, if app carries same logos as the original it will be harder to detect

Playstore is now turning into a scam center really, in one week they have been series of complain about scam wallet , what is really happening?.
Be careful on the wallet you choose , if this continues it will end up spoiling the name of crypto .

Beware! Fake Phishing Apps on Google Play

Trust Wallet has even reminded many phishing applications on Google Play, so we must be careful in choosing a wallet because if there is an error in choosing it will lose all of them.

It is true that almost a week there have been many reports about phishing applications, but we still have to know that in order to avoid it.

This is a clear scam accusation, doesn't fit in Beginners & Help board. So you should move the thread into the Scam Accusation board from the lower left. How have you found this app? I can't see it in the Google Play store. I don't know if it's due to jurisdiction restriction. Had you reported to Google? If reported then perhaps Google down the apps.

Anyway, thanks for sharing it with the community. Perhaps many peoples will notice this thread and save their valuable assets. But as always, we should very careful especially during the download of any crypto-related wallet or apps. Asking for private keys is definitely suspicious, in such a case downloading source should be verified from the original website.

I stumbled upon and a mysterious Aave app on play store and it seems the app was created by a developer to scam victims their money just like other numerous uniswap wallet on Google play store. They have been asking for private keys users from the reviews.

I checked Aave website to confirm about the App perhaps I would see a link but I couldn't find any. I contacted the Telegram admin to confirm about the app and he replied below. They don't have any Official Aave Wallet. Please be careful especially when you are DeFi lover. Don't loose your money to this Apps (scamers).
