Funny, I've seen the same fake Libra "buy" ads on Instagram. With an out of sync Zuckerberg talking about how his money will change the world. Be very careful and report everything asap.

But if it's about getting rich quick (or even quicker), they just don't think about the risks and they just act without thinking before...
Exactly that, the best part is about people willing to make a quick buck with Libra.  Cheesy

They don't even bother to read the basics about their investment which sort of coin they are buying. Libra is a stablecoin, the value will be pegged to (a basket of different) fiat money and will offer no opportunity to make a quick buck like they would like to.

Here's where the problem is coming from. The hype around Libra is what's misleading, it been a stablecoin is hardly been emphasize on. That's why they intentionally refused to make it clear at the very beginning of the rumors of Facebook developing a cryptocurrency. The rumors spreading around the community is that, Libra will replace bitcoin or overthrow altcoin etc but these rumors don't specify what aspect the overthrowing might occur which is in market capitalization and adoption and not price gain like most individuals are presuming.

The price gain is what comes into any individua mind (mostly newbie that hasn't done their research properly) when they hear the rumors of Libra conquering the cryptocurrency industry and In my opinion, this is a planned out marketing strategy just to decieve the masses. I do believe Libra will come into existence, the regulator are just delaying the process to discourage other companies from buying into the idea of developing their own cryptocoins. These guys (Facebook & regulators) work hand in hand and once facebook can come to an agreement with them, they would definitely grant Libra the go ahead.

Great job OP for alerting the community of these scams.

Since Libra coin is too noisy lately, scammers find a way to mislead people. Here are some ways they are doing right now:

  • Creating fake Libra website, fake social media groups and pages.
  • Giving Libra coins at discounted price and giveaways
  • Fake Libra Ads
People too often try to find the next bitcoin. Which doesnt exist and won't exist in loooooooong time. Bitcoin was just invented, such huge invention dont get repeated soon. Maybe in 20-70 years or smth.
This is result of that. People should not be interested in this virtual currency of single website. Its stupid, it was done hundreds of times before and wont get anywhere.

It's so sad to see how some people are doing almost no research and then it's obvious why blatant scams are still profitable for the scammers...

People need a healthy portion of scepticism when reading this kind of news...
Or, at least they would need a kind of mindset to double check news...
But if it's about getting rich quick (or even quicker), they just don't think about the risks and they just act without thinking before...
It's a kind of FOMO, if they start to think about this news (thinking is hard and takes time Smiley ), it's possible that they will miss the opportunity, so they just act and think about it after, when it's too late already...
Greed is a strong emotion and scammers just know this... and use this...

You can't blame members, especially beginners, because they trust by default the results that appear in Google search and may not have a technical background that enables them to detect the scam.
I remember when issuing a BCH I was about to give my wallet seeds to one of those scam sites.
You should know that Facebook would be launching this service on the Facebook platform and not as a separate website, once they do this. So the first indicator for a scam, would be for people to use a external website to advertise this service.
Libra is not a Facebook currency limited to that platform but is an alliance of many companies so if promoted it will be found on many platforms.
Also, Facebook has a lot of platforms and it seems that there are plans to link those platforms with each other, especially with the many breakdowns of some platforms Whatsapp and Insta.

This ecosystem is the perfect place for scammers, because most people just want to get rich fast.

Libra will be a stable coin, nobody will be making money out of it,but Facebook itself .

I believe it will be more like a new payment gateway with maybe a few app running over it (not dapp, but apps. Libra will support smartcontracts)

It will also be breaking news, once this "currency" is launched and you would see this being published in all the popular media platforms. In my opinion this will never see the light of day, because the US regulators are already trying to stop this.  Roll Eyes
Facebook can launch their service directly on Facebook platform, or on specific site for Libra, but they will integrate Libra services into Facebook platform. Facebook want to build up their stronger ecosystem with supports from Libra, so it is very understandable to see Libra directly used on Facebook platform. In my opinion, it is a big surprise if when Libra allowed to launch, and won't appear on Facebook platform. I don't have interests in Libra, but drama comes from Libra is huge, so far.
