The ecosystem "fill captcha-claim" will die very soon. If a site want survives this times, it needs offer more than some satoshis.

Well faucetbox keep improving all months with new features, sure pay 80-100 satoshis looks small rewards, but those faucets are the one who keep alive. What the poin to get 500 satoshis hour and the faucet closes in 15 days? Sure the best way to go are another script with a great security thing, as the bots keep hitting all faucets owners.

Make a custom anti-bot script and never share it with anyone, so no one can bypass the logic and abuse your website

I'm fully agree with you all you points mentioned. If anyone still think that making faucet is easy than I would say yes its easy to make a faucet but hard to maintain.
Before creating faucet you should think about security of faucet otherwise soon you'll have to close your website.

There are a lot of factors you need to consider before even thinking to open a faucet.
There's a few skills you need to have before you think of placing ads on your site.

I started with a simple website which turned out to be a great project with a badass community. People from all around the globe.
Without those people my project(s) wouldn't be what they are. Users need to be respected and paid well, in order to maintain your ranks among other faucets.

Most of people do a big mistake by thinking that running a "faucet" is easy.
It's much harder to run a website where you have to reward people with bits.
You'll face lots of people who will try to find ways to earn more. If you don't act accordingly in time, you lose the game.

Things you need before starting a faucet:

a) At least some HTML/PHP/DB knowledge,
b) At least 0.3 BTC (this depends on your payouts, your traffic, etc),
c) Lots of free time so you can assist users,
d) Lots of nerves.

There are stil some faucetbox faucets which works for few months or already year. Owners of such faucets is experienced, how to fight with bots, how to get enough revenue. But as I noticed, longest lives faucets with pretty low rewards, for example 80-100 satoshi every hour. As opposite, mostly faucets which using Xapo script, works long and stable if compared to faucets with faucetbox script.

Yes, it is escential to have your own script: faucet in a box script becomes obsolete now.
Faucet + games + content (for adsense) is the way now.

No if you have buy faucet theme costume and using anti-bot for guard your faucet site.. you can run faucet site but for now just get a little profit by owning faucet site.

I am sorry to say, but i don't think tetris faucet will get you much users(and its laging). Its very old game and it was very fun in '90, but its not fun any more. Try with slots and dice, i am sure you will get much more people to your faucet.

I think almost all is the reason why bing faucets are closing.. maybe their site is not profitable.. or there is a bot.. or something that can drain your wallet.. or funds in your faucet without profit for traffic..

Never will I use a site such as this, mostly the top of the tree usually earns the most, and that is the one who created the website.

Its nothing short of being a ponzi scheme but a lot worse imo.

probably people are bored from faucets, and traffic that they can create are really a bad one (people that click for a couple of satoshi is worthless despite other visitors in a specific field/website...)
is not a bad news after all, because people could use their time in a better way and try to earn btc in better way.

How do people actually earn from faucet?

Especially adsense is not available and only mellowads and some other crypto ad network are able to make part of the money which seems possible to cover the cost of making the faucet site + Paying the user.

I recently opened my own faucet: faucet dot withbitco dot in and although I should have revenue coming from a fairly decent sized set of Google, CoinURL, Coin Media, Adbit, AND Solve Media captchas, honestly I have found that the problem is nobody is clicking ads unless you want to tempt fate by forcing a user to view or click ads to get satoshi paid (interstitial / pop-up ads will either bury your site on search engines or get you banned from advertising partners). I have made very little despite focusing on content and then adding a faucet; I know I am using a boilerplate design (FaucetBox) but honestly I am shocked how little the earnings and user base has stayed. I think adding a game (hi/lo like freebit.co.in etc.), writing your faucet entirely by hand and/or possibly setting up a second, internal captcha-ish system that when asked questions relevant to your site, you must enter certain information found inside the actual content posted on your website to claim the reward; this should drive up page views per visit as well as average visit length which should in turn drive your CTR, if only marginally. Of course, I haven't implemented anything other than a redesign / rework of the faucet claim page on a basic level.

Anyone have a good resource for earnings from / running a faucet? 99bitcoins had a really well done set of write-ups but milli, the site featured, got caught up in the AdSense bans and as time went on and the faucet became more successful the posts grew less and less insightful (to protect the 'special sauce' that kept the faucet earnings rolling in, I suppose).

Faucets are not profitable for users and for owners so they to do what is the right thing. Other faucets owner admits that their not earning in their faucets. They earn but not enough. Without advertisement faucets will never survive.

It's hard to find more ways to monetize faucets. Some faucets have donation button and users can donate some satoshi for faucet. But I don't think that owners getting reasonable amount of satoshi from donations, because no one is giving money to faucet for free.

I will update you in a week or so, but in the first couple of days my faucet is online, I've made nothing. I decided not to use any scripts but to make my own hoping it would attract more users.

So, if you take the time that I've spent building it, hosting services and domain name, I've invested a lot. Being that my ad revenue is close to 0, I'll have to invest some more to payout users. So, as far as I'm concerned it just doesn't pay off. But, as I mentioned I've just started so maybe my luck changes.

Sad reality of faucets. Owners are tired to fight with bots, they lost money. Profits from ads without Adsense very low. Mostly faucets in general looks same, because they use faucetbox script, and for such faucets it's hard to surive. It's still some old faucets with huge amount of users works and pays. But new faucets now surives only for 1-2 weeks, maximum 2 months.

I see only problem with large number of faucets. Faucets owners are depending on adds, and every single faucet has the same adds! For example you enter in first faucet and see add for XY site. You find XY interesting and you click on add. Then you move to next faucet and see add for the same XY site, and than you move to third faucet and see again add for XY site etc. Why the hell would you click on that add over and over again? Less clicks on adds, less money for owner, lower rewards, with lower rewards people wont come back to faucet, and faucet dies. Faucet owners have to find new ways to attract users and make money from faucet. Maybe to add some games or lottery.

I think the reason is their profit is low thats why they are closing.

Yes, Bitcoin faucets that use FaucetBOX scripts is hard to keep alive because they do not contain anything special which other hundred faucet does not have. These are the faucet where the user retains an average for half a minute. Today can be held only faucet that in one place offer several cryptocurrency and where is claim up to 15 minutes. On such faucet is a user stays for hours switching from one to another faucet and thereby see a ton of advertising. Some of them are Arcia, Sole and DigitalGain. These people have invested great effort in its own scripts and they deserved to have a large number of users and a good profit.

Faucets with/related to gambling games won't shut down no matter what because there will be always fools to play and lose money   Online gambling is always set to win for the admin and to lose for the naive people in the end.
For example claimbtc, as long as has Multiply will survive over time . Look at their website, it's not so full of ads/banners.

I support a faucet or faucet-game with lots of ads displayed, sometimes (once a day or so) by clicking on one of the banners   specially if they give decent/fair claims. I won't name any, here and now because i don't want to get off-topic .

Some old faucets were closed solely because of "Adsense ban", but if you have noticed freebitco.in (one of the oldest faucet) is still going strong without adsense. They have a huge user base so they would be in profit (not much, but marginal) even if they use other bitcoin ad networks.

Bot issue is one of the major concerns (especially for faucetbox script), but I do not think custom faucet admins bother much about that.

Yes, there are so many reasons why they shut down. No advertisements -> no earnings -> no fund for faucet -> no one will visit the faucet -> FAUCET will SHUTDOWN. Day by day new faucets are coming, yes, but most of them are not paying. Giving such high rewards, but high minimum withdrawal as well, then will not pay when you reach that minimum. Because of that kind of faucets, even newbies to bitcoin doesn't trust faucets anymore (not all but almost). However, I still go for that trusted faucets I used before, it's okay if they lowered their rewards, at least they still pay.

If all btc ad networks raised the price of advertising faucets could be saved.

Possibility the site got bot attack so they shut off the site for the moment and maybe they will not try to run their faucet site again.

Faucets dont make profit, 99 percent of faucets actually make a loss every day especially faucetbox faucets. Faucetbox faucet script userswill die off within weeks of starting.

My faucet www.cryptohydrant.com makes a loss everyday but im still paying 1250 satoshis ever 6 hours hoping more people will click ads one day lol.

It's not greed, I've just started a faucet. As far as the faucet is concerned, there's nothing shady there, but there's like 2-3 people who are legit and others are constantly trying to find a way to hack it or place a bot on it. It can be really tiresome. Regarding the ads, to tell you the truth if AdSense gives up on you (as a faucet owner), the faucet is over... So, it's not only greed. It isn't that easy to maintain a decent faucet. So I figure people just get bored with it...

Most faucets who have really low rewards, usually don't bother over the BTC price, but others do, when its down your satoshi is equivalent to what you was getting before it was up, so really you are getting the similar rewards.

I do wonder, if prices dropped, would the amount of bitcoins you get from faucets go up? Because in America, costs may go down for the companies, but they never go back down for the consumers.
