China all-time high is 1944 CNY/BTC. I dislike the concept of "closing high" so I intentionally omit that from this post.

I disagree. I think technically, closing highs are more important than all-time high.

This ^.

Price sustaining over time (until the end of the day) is important just like closing the weekly price is more important than the weekly high.

Closing is completely arbitrary, therefore.. no.

A daily volume-weighted average would have an all-time-high I would think of slightly lower than the closing high, considering it crashed later that very same day on high volume, probably lowering the next day's average.

Based on weekly weighted averages we must be at or close to ATH already. IMO period-weighted averages are better yardsticks than the occasional brief bubbletop spew.

Not yet.

1. 2013-04-05 through 2013-04-11 W. Avg: 175.81
2. 2013-04-04 through 2013-04-10 W. Avg: 172.88
3. 2013-10-16 through 2013-10-22 W. Avg: 164.67
4. 2013-04-03 through 2013-04-09 W. Avg: 157.91
5. 2013-10-15 through 2013-10-21 W. Avg: 154.99

Wow, so we're still over 1/3rd lower than the China ATH? Sorta weird, considering most people here ignored china last time around, but this time are calling it the market mover.

Correct. The charts show China had a bigger high, bigger bubble last time. However, it was on relatively lower volume I believe.

You are contradicting yourself. The closing price is just one point, which fails to measure sustained price. If you wish to measure sustained price, the Weighted Average would best suit you (as theonewhowaskazu had already pointed out).

You could argue that a daily weighted average, would, then, be the most valuable.
