There is some company called Cryoniks Inc., which advertises a device called FrostBit: https://www.cryoniks.com/#!/app/frostbit/
They claim it does 1000GH/s and costs only about 15k USD. What do you think about this?

do your research.... they 'guy' connected with this project just so happens to also be connected with the biggest  Kickstarter scam

http://www.thebitcoinchannel.com/archives/tag/fahad-koumaiha
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/crypteks/crypteks-usbtm-encrypted-and-lockable-usb-solution/comments

http://btcbible.com/crypteks-kickstarter-scam-continues-to-be-ignored/

just take a look at the Kickstarter thread..... wow does this guy get around...... claims   'he was just under contract'  and working with the companies that went on to scam hundreds of thousands....

>liquid nitrogen generator
Those don't even exist.
Of course they do! How do you think liquid nitrogen gets into the tanks that it is sold in? Magic?
I meant liquid nitrogen generators for cooling do not exist. It's like saying a ASIC miner with built-in nuclear reactor.

You're right about that, of course. Sorry for the sarcasm before.

A manufacturer uses an LN2 generator which compresses nitrogen from the air into liquid form. They are just way too large to fit into a little box like that and way too expensive to include in a product at that price point.

Actually, you can even build a crude LN2 generator yourself:

This is by far the most elaborate website I have seen for a hoax, really unbelievable how far some people will go.

How is it unbelievable?  They've made a ton of money off this scam.  One site determined they had 100+ orders @ $15k a pop.  They even have a kickstarter project that had $200k+ last time I saw it.

dammm, are PEOPLE in the world that stupid to fall for it??

The product is unbelievable and plain ridiculous so I don't really feel sorry for the scam-ees cause they must be really stupid to drop 15k on one of these.

Thanks for your opinions guys! I'm now convinced it's a scam.

Btw, tried to searched for cryonik and frostbit in this forum, but I did not find that other thread about it. How to use the search feature here? Does it search only in parts of the forum?

If you just use the search box at the top right it will only search the sub-forum category that you are currently in. Click on the search tab near the top left and use the google search feature.

Again, the earlier thread is here:

LN2 is not viable, it's probably a good use for all the hardware made for the AMD CPU's, the old vapochill boxes, but the ASIC chips would probably struggle with the whole peltier setup needed, with no payout, and really hard maintenance/setup. like, 5 hours of your life you'll never get back.

a peltier cooler would be an easier sell, less "ahmagaawd, this is cooool".

maybe there's some benefit to a better cooler ...

let's see, you could use off the shelf copper heatpipes, fin radiators,

or, if you have a thermal cooling efficiency problem, e.g. too much heat, not enough space, e.g. rack mounting ASIC blades, or something,
water/fluid loops and 120mm radiators, much like the corsair / swiftech contained radiator loops.

it's relatively cheaper than a custom fin solution, and able to be chained in a bigger radiator solution, i.e. rack cooling with quick disconnects,

a combined pump off a 12v connector, so you can design a vent/radiator to rack-mount a bank of ASICs to cut down on ducting and fan noise, set each blade/rack to use rows, pump fluid in at the top and bottom, and parallel cool & pump 8-10 racks

.. for no particular reason.

one can dream.
