I noticed this as well. If I werent running a decent dedicated bitcoin rig, I'd be getting kind of nervous. My whole "portfolio" of alt coins is wayyy down Sad.

I still have to wonder if people are starting to realize altcoins are almost always just traded for BTC, and are a significant market of BTC itself on top of all of the support it is getting from goods and services marketplaces.

Maybe scrypt based coins are slowly being rendered worthless by investors in BTC, and useless by exchanges who refuse to trade them for fiat directly. CGMiner already stopped supporting GPUs, too. It's just worrisome.

I kind of feel BTC holders are a little elitist, too. Like scrypt miners are the paupers.

EDIT: Apparently there was already a thread about this.

I noticed with the latest rise in BTC/USD, almost every altcoin saw a reduction in exchange rate to BTC. Is it a sign people just don't care to support GPU work anymore, that it's just too easy? Whats up with this? 60 days for one BTC turned into 108.

 Huh
there is also too much "shit" out there spreading the BTC around and not as much strong buys in the other coins.

The price of BTC has gone up, if the spread between the alt currencies and BTC remains the same it means the value of the alts is increasing. For the coins to keep their same value, the spread has to go down.
If you want more details, I wrote about it on my blog: http://de-crypter.blogspot.com/

What he said.  LTC for example hasn't gone down, the price of BTC has just gone up, that's all.  Little FYI, last time BTC shot up fast and stabilized over $1000 a few days later the alts caught on fire and moved up faster.
