why do people keeping coming up with these stupid ideas that completely centralize mining and crypto in general. the ways these things work its meant to be run by millions of little people...not a few big companies with all the little peoples money. this is just another cex.io that will have too much hashrate later on and developers of these cryptos are eventually gona change their equations to make your asics useless because a few people controlling any network like this is NOT how its meant to be and in the end this is NOT going to work
oh ya and hes prolly just gona take your money anyways..Smiley
i understand your wanting to make money and you may think this is a good idea, but its not. these networks arent meant to be run like this and anyone with half a brain knows this--in the long run for any of these networks to work it will have to be lots of little people in control..not a select few with the most money to put into manufacturing new hardware first. this wasnt why bitcoin was made...and the developers and community know this and wont let it get to that point

alpha-t.net
looks like scam.
just look in web archive service how was used this domain 1 year ago.
also look in google street view company office place Smiley) nice picture
and finaly you can try find in search engine any information about company number and VAT number, that published on web site. I do not find anything.

so..?

Maybe the company that used to own the domain bankrupted and the domain expired. I mean, alpha-t is not something that's very hard to come up with. Besides, they could have just created a new domain, it costs something like 10$.

If they have a VAT number, then they're a real company whose owners are a public knowledge. Sure, the product may or may not succeed, but I believe scamming you outright is out of the question.

Scamming companies usually lied about their location and/or ownership, if anyone remembers PrimeAsic. Since they're a UK company registered in Manchester, is there anyone on the forum from Manchester who'd like to give a visit to their location? It looks like an accounting service there is serving as a public facade for the company, but if you come up there, they should tell you if the company is real or not.

However, after investigating there site, TDW could not find a valid VAT registration number, nor any proof that Alpha Technology are VAT registered.
Their VAT number is 176115022.
Their company registration number is 08483921

ALPHA TECHNOLOGY VAT WARNING
31ST DECEMBER 2013 WALLETMASTER    1 COMMENT
logo

Alpha Technology, the only company thus far to be taking money for pre-orders of Scrypt ASIC Miners (we previously spoke about this company before Christmas) – have a new update regarding VAT:

https://alpha-t.net/news/development-update-30122013-2/

However, after investigating there site, TDW could not find a valid VAT registration number, nor any proof that Alpha Technology are VAT registered. If this is the case, then there are two things to be made aware of:

1. They cannot ask you to pay additional VAT on an item, as they are not VAT registered. The price shown is the price you must pay.

2. They cannot unfortunately do any VAT exclusions for EU residents, who are presumably buying off Alpha Technology rather than their Indian Manufacturer – as the sale seems to be with Alpha Technology, therefore as they are not VAT registered, they could not charge VAT anyway, and therefore there is no possibility that it could be zero-rated.

3. Finally, if they are not VAT registered they will not be able to process over £75,000 in any financial year – severely limiting their pre-order and total order capacity.

We would suggest that Alpha Technology register and display that VAT details as soon as possible, in order to avoid further complications to an already risky process.

I'm sorry but this just sounds like you're putting lip stick on a pig.

AT scrypt miner is looking really dodgy now, and you're offering a service on top of that ? What are your reasons to thrust this company to the point of putting together a start up around it ?

Let's put it this way... Will I lose anything if they turn out to be a scam? Very little. Will I earn something if they end up being a legitimate company? Yes.

I'm perfectly aware that this business model can end up being a dud. But I'm also aware that it may end up being a profitable venture for both me and my customers. So why not go ahead with it and try it out? If you have a different business idea that requires a low amount of investment capital and guarantees success, well it's certainly better than my business model. But please, do share the specifics Smiley

I miss the point. We are supposed to buy a miner and send it to you and automatically you own it (WTF?)
Plus we pay you extra dollars every year for electricity and maintenance.
Who would do that?

Actually, the point is that you pay me to buy you a miner through an EU company and host it in my datacenter. That way your miner is cheaper, and if you're not from the EU you don't have to pay the customs. Plus you also get to mine a week or two earlier considering average shipping times. Formally, I do own the miner, yes, because that way my customers can save some money on reducing the cost of VAT. But as long as we have a contract which states that you get all your mining profits and that you can get the miner shipped to you whenever you want, it doesn't really make a difference, does it? Plus if you really want to own the miner yourself, I've got no problem with that, but then I can't offer you any discounts.

Basically it's up to you to consider whether it's cheaper to pay me for hosting, or to pay for customs fees and lose a week of two of most profitable mining period. The prices are such that it's generally more profitable for non-EU customers to go with my hosting than to host the miners themselves, especially the ones living in places with high electricity prices and customs fees.

I mean, you can ask the same questions for any sort of hosting, be it web pages or winter tires. For some people it's the most profitable option, for others it's not.

Also, a few clarifications I've been asked about:

The current model is based on what Alpha Technology claims will deliver. If their devices end up differing significantly from what they have announced (primarily with regards to power consumption), the price will be adjusted accordingly. But whatever the device specs turn out to be in the end, there's quite a lot of margin, so the final pricing will almost certainly be such that it will be cheaper than customs and lost time for non-EU customers. Except in the odd case that the devices end up consuming something like 10 times more power than announced, but then we're all screwed anyway, hosting or not.

Also, if I get a lot of customers, I'll try to strike a bargain with the suppliers and see if they will be willing to deliver a bulk purchase at a discount. If that succeeds, the discount will be split in half between me and the customers.

Finally, if the preorders start before my company is formally set up, I'll offer the option of buying the units privately on my name, with a signed contract if asked for. In that case I won't be able to provide a 5% discount on VAT, but all the other benefits like avoiding customs will still be available. Unlike purchasing through a company, such payments can be done in fiat currencies as well (wire, WU, Moneygram...), but their number will be somewhat limited. Banks are notorious for freezing accounts with too much traffic going on for their taste, and I don't want a horde of angry people planning murder plots with me as the main character because of their lost profits Smiley

Hello everybody,

I am forming a startup company that will provide hosting services for Alpha Technology (and other) Litecoin miners. The company will be based in Croatia (Europe), and it will provide all the services needed to get your miner up and running 24/7. Why use my services? Here are the primary benefits:

* First the big one - the miners will be company owned. That means I can give you a 5% discount on the price of a regular order, since I will not need to pay the VAT. You will, of course, be able to get your miners any time you want, but in that case you will have to pay the VAT you skipped earlier.

* No customs - since the hosting will be provided in Europe, I will not have to pay any customs fees, which means you won't need to pay them either whether you're an EU citizen or not.

* Fast shipment - again, since it's a company physically based in the EU, the product shipment will take less than it would if you were ordering from abroad.

* No hassle with miner setup - you just give me your LTC payment address, and you'll start receiving litecoins straight away! Setup and maintenace is run by me.

* Equipment sharing - if one miner is too much for you, you can ask for a miner share. The shares come in 1MH/s packages, and the price of one 1MH/s share is 0.25 times the price of a full 5MH/s miner.

* Hosting price is 300$/year for 5MH/s devices, and 1500$/year for 25MH/s devices. No additional fees whatsoever, you get 100% of your mining revenue!

* If your unit fails while the warranty period is still active, a new one will be requested from the manufacturer at no cost (other than shipping).

* All the units will be on a UPS power supply in case of power shortages.

* Mining possible at a pool of your choice, or the DOS resistant P2Pool with weekly payouts.

* Money back if you decide to change your mind before the order is placed.

* Payment in bitcoins and litecoins only (unfortunately the taxes and paperwork overhead make it impossible for me to deal in fiat with profit)

* Several secure facilities with barred windows, anti-theft doors, air conditioning, and video survailance.

* Possibility of meeting in person and showing you the facilities.

* Possibility of arranging deals with other mining equipment, upon inquiry.

* All my personal details and a formal contract will be available upon request.

So if you're not from the EU, or even if you are but don't own your own company, you'll get all the Scrypt ASIC mining benefits hassle-free at a much better rate than if you bought the item yourself. The items that you pay for will be ordered as soon as they become available. Hosting price may change if the units end up using significantly more power than declared.

Finally, as a small token of my trustworthiness before my company comes online, here is my local bitcoins profile with a 100% positive rating and more than 30 successful trades https://localbitcoins.com/accounts/profile/efodix/

If you want to make a deal, feel free to comment here or send me a PM. Let's mine!
