Probably, market will chose a 3 - 4 cryptocoins, and people will use them. This is my opinion, but in the other hand - we observe something surprising in a cryptocurrency world in a last few weeks.
I remember a few months ago there were like 3 alt coins coming out a day and people said it would die down. It doesn't seem to have slowed. At what point will the madness end? There can't legitimately be a use for all these alt coins can there?
It's all about the coins with the strongest communities and hardest working development teams.
Consumers love choice, so I think the "best of the best" will live long and prosper.
I agree with this statement completely.
See that's what I think generally yet somehow after several months I would say "many" alt coins are thriving which arguably don't do much to improve btc and a few other alts.

There are 206 states listed with the United nations http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_sovereign_states, in my opinion they all do something a little different than the next, a specific coin for each respective country does not seem to be unreasonable, yet if all the alts are coming from one source than I have to ask the same question as you.
