Thanks to the high growing potential in alts, we all profit from time to time from investing into them. The question is not whether investing into alts worth, anymore, but that should we keep our funds in alts or exchange them back to BTC? According to your strategy, do you change from alt to alt (temporarily BTC) or prefer to withdraw to BTC?
For me, alts are there to only increase my bitcoin. No point in keeping the investment in alts, only until they are at the right price to sell and increase your btc.
Bitcoin is the main game here, they are called 'alts' for a reason right.

I will never keep my profits in the form of altcoins as it gives me fever and I always think alt will loose value anytime. That could take my profit away from me. So I don't really like keeping my profit in that form. Maximum I withdraw immediately into bitcoins for better assurance.

That depends actually. Even though I don't trade in alts much, but I do closely watch some alt's prices so that I can get a suitable and no-risk opportunity to make good profit from trade. I mainly try to record highs and lows of an alt for about a week and then try to average the price.

If I see that alt price is going in into circle, then it is the best time to purchase and make profit. Even if the price difference is low, good amount of investment will give you a good amount of profit. So I always take wait and watch strategy.

i would never keep any money in altcoins, i prefer more of a short term investing strategy because from what i have seen in my years of being around and trading for a little part of it, the altcoins never last at high prices. they will always get dumped.
and since i am trading on an altcoin trading platform i will sell it back to bitcoin and then go in any other altocin i want because there is no other way.

People who said it was better to keep your funds in BTC. Do you still have the same opinion after the recent big BTC dump?

yes i still say the same thing. bitcoin is king of the long term. take a look at the history. we always have these types of dips when there is a big rise in bitcoin price.

and if the rout is there I would take it, because that would save me on extra trading fees.

Recent events shew us that BTC too can have radical bumps and dumps just like any altcoin. Considering that I would not call BTC stable or more stable than certain altcoins at all. From that, I too prefer to have the option to change from alt to alt leaving out BTC from certain deals.

I go alt to alt if the platform lets me Grin
for example many exchanges have this feature that you can trade altcoins with each other, they have the markets. for example in cryptopia you can exchange any altcoin with bitcoin, dogecoin, litecoin, dotcoin, feathercoin, and USDT.
bittrex also added this recently where you can exchange some altcoins with ETH and obviously the base BTC market. and they have a couple of USDT markets.

and if the rout is there I would take it, because that would save me on extra trading fees.

I convert my alt to BTC and stay with it until I found a good alternative coin to invest in.  Holding in BTC is far more secure than holding in altcoins in terms of dollar equivalent.   After an exit in investment, more probably the pump and hype are over, the value of altcoin continuously decrease.  So converting back to bitcoin is the better option.
As long as altcoin still has the potential to trade and promise bigger profits. There is no harm in holding it until it reaches the profit target. After that just exchanged to BTC.
This is just a small strategy and I agree that saving BTC is safer and more profitable.

I am into alt to btc trading and rarely do alt to alt trades. I always prefer to withdraw in BTC because I think that's the safest thing to do. There are alts that really give good profit. I also experience earning high with ALTs, I think doubled or tripled my investment (though it's worth less than 1BTC)

I prefer to withdraw it in BTC, 'cause some alts may have pumped their coins and their value may have skyrocketed but at the end of the day bitcoin is still the top coin among all others and there is a lesser chance for bitcoin to drop down its value anytime.

I do converts my altcoin to bitcoin after make around 20% returned on my investment. It then mean all my investment is in bitcoin because that is where I do my investment from. I am some how skeptical on living my hard earnings in altcoins as there prices fluctuations unnecessary.

it depends on a lot of things. for example if that other alt is on the rise or not, if i can find an alt on the rise or not and more.

for example if i have ethereum and i feel like it is the end of this pump then i sell it immediately, but the bitcoin i get will remain there until i find another altcoin. if i see another on the rise i will invest in it righ away but if not i will wait until i find it.

but sometimes i also see another opportunity like an alt that has not been pumped yet and has the potential of going up 500% so i dump my over pumped altcoin for example i dump eth and invest in that altcoin to gain the bigger profit.

I trade altcoin day trading and I converts my earning to bitcoin after closing of trade every day. Because altcoin fluctuations it is not wise to leave you coin for days on just New coin that have not test the straights of the market. Bitcoin has been there for years and we can easily predict what happened to market.

Indeed alts are profitable (well not all of them) but it is risky to keep the money into alt form. Alts are ripen fruits and can drop very easily if you throw stone towards it! Personally once I finish grabbing my profit I immediately withdraw the money into BTC. This is just because I feel BTC as my safe house and I like to keep it that way. It is more or less back up for me and not even myself can touch the money in there. I just work with strategies, I limit my trading by putting back my winnings into BTC or my safe house!
