It seems to me that you are right only in part because old coins are good, but the market is very young and promising in terms of technology. New coins have huge opportunities for technical development - for example, sharding, which Zilliqa and Quarkchain try to realize this year! Perhaps, such new technological projects will become the basis of a new wave of technologies and will outstrip Ethereum and Bitcoin in the near future!

That is why altcoins are here, each of them will try to overtake btc or eth but so far im not seeing any altcoins that have prove its worth unlike btc. Though some of them are good regarding technology, we cant take out the fact that btc is the first crypto that made the world crazy.

I read a lot of vacuous dribble on BCT these days, but this effort is up there with the best examples.

It seems we are at peak desperation about the popping of the Ethereum bubble!

I think every altcoin has its own strengths and weaknesses, other altcoins cannot replace btc or eth because they have strong fundamentals in my opinion, but there is also no way that other altcoins will replace them if btc or eth don't make good innovations

From the beginning of time of the crypto market, there have been a lot of coins who are saying that they are the better coins than BTC and ETH, but so far, we have seen none and even the things that were said in th whitepaper was nowhere near it. There is still time for us to witness a coin better than BTC and ETH.

We have seen a lot of coins emerging in the market, claiming to be the better one than BTC. Only ETH is somewhat considered to be the better one. But still we have not seem any other coins being better than both BTC and ETH. And maybe it will take some time in the future to have a coin like that in sight, i.e. better than BTC and ETH.

We do see posts and coins that they are the next best versions of BTC or even ETH, but all in vain. Even though it is not an impossible task, but still, we are not being blessed with such a coin, yet. Maybe in the future, but not in the present.

Not only Cardano; Zilliqa and EOS are also performing well enough to replace ETH in the future. However, since a lot of ICO projects and blockchain industry is based on the proper function of Ethereum based tokens I don't think all these ALTs will stand a chance in front of ETH in the long run.

That's just one goal they set out to draw attention to everyone that they can beat ETH or Bitcoin. But there is no way to do it and just as you said they only copied and avoided errors such as ETH and BTC have been. Never altcoin can beat ETH or BTC, altcoin was created to do that now almost dead because it could not be done

I see, until now all the Altcoin are depending on the price of the BTC. Therefore, crossing the BTC is a long way ahead. Meanwhile, BTC itself is constantly improving. Therefore, this is considered the driving force, is the goal to the Altcoin strive.

I think that the altcoins that claim that they are going to replace btc or eth are those that are just looking for some cheap publicity because they know as well as we do that there is no way for their coins to achieve such a feat but they do that to try and get more people to trust and invest in their coin. I've got to say, it's being effective so far.

At the moment, you are correct. There is nothing to replace BTC for the time being, but I think there will be other alternatives to BTC in the future, because technology is developing. However, BTC has not developed and is bound by people's minds. I hope that BTC can make some changes.

ETH has been to ALTcoins what Bitcoin has been to all the cryptocurrencies out there. Though ETH and other Alts are bleeding badly right now but once the market gets back it's balance, it is likely to make a good return to it's previous zone. All the old investors are still hopeful about ETH.

This is a trend, the same as to say that my smartphone that I'm developing would be the killer of iPhone. And this is silly because in the end we are seeing those coins not even close to be a competitor to Bitcoin.

There is no chance for altcoins to take over bitcoin or ethereum. Bitcoin is the king of the crypto market. if any coin is ever to takeover bitcoin then it will surely take a lot of years or maybe never. Bitcoin has been ruling the crypto world for about a decade and most of the ICOs don’t have a working product yet. Bitcoin will keep ruling and will keep going way ahead than any other altcoins.

no altcoin is actually competing with ETH because ETH is also an altcoin. what they have always pretended to compete with is bitcoin and it will not change and they are doing it to get pumped more because they can get more newbies to fall for their tricks and invest.

there are a group of coins that are similar and they are competing with each other. for example the privacy coins such as Monero, ZCash,.... there are many categories. one of them is platforms for smart contract and in that category ETH is currently the most pumped coin so it is hyped up which is the reason it seemed to you people are competing with it.

I actually still dont understand how to define the best among cryptocurrency because their visions, their features are different even under the same technology, blockchain. Bitcoin and Cardano, or Ethereum are not comparable because their uses are different. Cardano can beat Ethereum in some aspects, but Ethereum has features that Cardano can't compete in. That will or will not happen as of now or in the near future even if they do have the newest innovation in the cryptoindustry, why? First Bitcoin is the most traded cryptocurrency in the market as of today which is used by all investors traders and hodlers. It is also the altcoins are measured in BTC and ETH not by USD and as long as users deemed BTC and ETH to be the most valued cryptocurrency it will not be replaced so altcoins that claims they will replace them will have a high mountain to climb in the cryptoindustry.

I think one should be very careful putting BTC and ETH in the same basket. In my opinion BTC is many miles ahead of ETH.

You are right, there are a lot of Altcoin claims to be able to surpass BTC beyond ETH，But in fact, this is just a gimmick, because so far I have not seen any Altcoin can surpass ETH and BTC, this situation may change after a long time, but not now.
