I think you have the right idea - start off small and try mining low difficulty coins through a pool.

ROI won't happen unless you know what coin to mine and when to sell it.  This takes a lot of research and time.  Once you get past the learning curve -- you'll then figure out what is the best step for you.  Mining at 25 cents per Kw/h will make it difficult to turn a profit, however, as most miners pay less than 1/2 your rate --- but --- don't let that stop you from experimenting, as you never know where it will take you!

MRKLYE is quite correct.

That being said, it is fun and you never know you may mine a coin, hold it for a while and make loads of money if the price goes vertical for what ever reasons.

It happens, I made thousands from titcoin, when they got mentioned in some porn mag and the price multiplied 10x

But expect to lose money and anything like that is bonus.

Its fun Smiley and, good luck"

So, i've recently got really fascinated by mining, started off thinking i could mine bitcoins but boy i was wrong. So i figured i could mine altcoins.
So i found on eBay a Gridseed Blade Package 5.2-6MH/s power consumption between 80 and 100W. I currently pay 0.22 € per Kw/h. I've been trying to find what the average hash rate one needs to have to make ROI but haven't found anything consistent.
So since i'm kind of a noob, i'm asking you: is this getting me somewhere?

If you would like to start mining as a side project or hobby I guess this is an alright start.

Sadly you will likely never see a return on your investment given that your energy costs seem quite high.
If you'd like to dabble with mining altcoins or just want to have some fun while learning to mine.. Go for it!
Nut do not expect to get rich or even profit with such a small setup (Unless of course you get lucky mining a new coin)
