I'm also confused about what happens to some big altcoins with a very sharp decline now, because as you say a little down with Bitcoin is like 5%, then altcoin can drop by 15% then if Bitcoin still continues to decrease by 2% then altcoin still experiencing a decline, we see prices in January and comparing prices with current prices so far the difference is whether we have to keep holding BTC rather than having to hold the altcoin whose prices are always decreasing.
So bitcoin just keeps going up and down and still not reaching much lower than 6k but everytime these surges with bitcoin happen alt prices keep taking a dive. Even though it seems like when bitcoin takes a dive alts take a dive when btc raises alts take a dive.

Altcoins been dumped a lot, and bitcoin dominance is more than 50%. However, today market represents well, alts growing more than btc, but they drop heavier also. Still many alts have a bright future, surely most of them will go nowhere and stronger projects will replace them, surely most of them are not on the CMC yet.
I still have my altcoins investment but haven't invested in anything. I think it will go down more and I can wait a little.
Several reasons. Prices of altcoin (i am not talking about top altcoins) never goes higher in the shortrun unless there is an even that is taking place which benefits the crypto market. The event encourages the price to rise since people starts to invest on different altcoin as much as possible. Now, the main reason why altcoin price drops when the price of bitcoin rises is because, people sell off their altcoin to get those bitcoin. Thus dumping of altcoins causes the price to fall and buying those bitcoin causes the price of bitcoin to rise.
investing in the Altcoin is an excellent way to make a profit, a lot of Altcoins with huge growth. as for me it is necessary to invest and have patience

this is what happened in this less than a year period. I don't do a lot of activities to invest. but the current market pattern can be learned because in every setback it is always tucked in growth even though it is small and does not last long. however, if you trade fast, you will have the opportunity to create profits. so you have to survive to reduce losses due to the past.

Yeah, as time goes by crypto currency going down its value as the market are really affected. Also, we try to hold some altcoins that we have since it was so cheap ang hoping it will increase. Those users have more btc as well as eth are really have big rule in order to move tremendously the value but due to those users experience decreasing value they have no choice but to sell as they afraid they have more loss of their different shares.
Altcoin prices were very low compared to the ath price of each and every altcoin available in the market. The price drop doesn't mean a failure it show the lack of resistant to withstand. Such levels of price fluctuations over the past has helped it gain resistance and pump high. Yea it seems like right now if btc goes up alts down btc down alts down. I remember back in jan btc went up alts down and then btc went down alts up. I'm waiting for that to happen again and I will be cashing in 90% of my alts for BTC or tether and waiting for the market to dip again

i believe it is mainly because each time that bitcoin makes a move (rise or a fall) all the traders in the whole market (note that i said traders not newbie bag holders!) turn their attention to bitcoin. this can be moving their bitcoins to BTC/USD market to sell before the bottom is reached and buy back at the bottom or moving their money there to buy bitcoin at the bottom if they have money which can be the money they gain by dumping their altcoins.

Even most of my coins reduced its value more than 500% of its original bitcoin investment but still I am optimistic on this . I have seen several worst dip the major one was when bitcoin bull run happened and reached 20000$ most of the altcoins value reduced more than 10x of its original vale then after few months it given more than 2x profit . So still I am telling patience is the key of your invested in right altcoin. The major mistake people are doing in crypto market is not researching enough for investing in proper alt coin. If you have confident enough and you know the solution behind the altcoin then no need to worry .

If you're an investor in bitcoin then you don't have to worry about a thing because this is only the start of bullish market these BER months. I think bitcoin's fluctuating price is due to companies investing with a lot of money that, in my observation and opinion, they only want to make profit for a short period of time, then it turns out that they got tired or somethin, it was just a matter of timing and who goes first or something.

The bear market does not end once the coin reaches the bottom, it may stay around for even years so $6k might be real bottom but btc can still keep fluctuating there.

Yes that is true Bitcoin price as of now was already out of the crash and it climb to almost $8500 then it goes down to $7400,so this movement shows the volatility behavior of Bitcoin but still dominant the cryptocurreny and regarding to Altcoins like Ethereum are still stagnant at lower price since it is not dependent to Bitcoin.

This is not the first time we have this kind of situation in the cryptocurrency market and I could remember back in the year 2016 when market correction then, the altcoin market was experiencing the samething as now. However, majority of people bitcoin surge in price was the caused which I pretty disagreed and I want you to know that altcoin will pump when the time is right but not all altcoin will surge cause some altcoin will crash out of the market soon.

When people move money from alts to bitcoin, alts go down. If bitcoin goes up doesn't necessarily mean alts will go up, it could simply mean money is being transferred to bitcoin and people are changing their position.

nobody knows exactly WHY this is happening but there are a lot of guesses, some of which i agree with. but the only important thing is to remember this trend exists and will always happen, or at least in 99% of the cases:
bitcoin up => altcoins down
bitcoin down => altcoins down
nothing else matters, knowing this you can always make profit.

The best suggestion is to HODL and wait patiently. If you decide to sell than sell shit coins and get good ones that will tank once everybody transfer their btc to alts , and that will happen for sure one day. i dont believe that bitcoin will continue to tank so much more . its already 50% of the whole crypto market. Maybe little more and than boom all in alts
Well, I also noticed the same think and I think the reason for this is probably due to the fact that there is low demand for altcoin as investors are selling and buying bitcoin rather than giving more support to altcoin but I believe when the bull run starts, altcoi price will increase.
The problem is that Bitcoin offers little in the way of utility and its only use is as a store of value based on scarcity. This leaves it open to speculation. The fact that it exists only as an option on financial markets makes it easy for people to profit by shorting Bitcoin and offers little opportunity for by and hold investors to invlove themselves because the SEC keeps shooting down attempts to create a Bitcoin ETF. Unfortunately the Altcoins still trade under Bitcoins shadow.
Yes, I had observed that this is not the same market movement as before where btc goes up, alts may had followed next. However, in the current scenario, market movement is different since altcoins has not been pulled up as bitcoin was increasing. For now, the market improvement seems to be adjusting on its own and no longer has a correlation with each other same as before.
Lesson, invest most with bitcoin and not with altcoins.

The current market worries me so much for its low speed of restoring. I believe that altcoins' prices will increase soon and there will be more chances for working.
I think the buyer and player jump on bitcoin market. So when bitcoins pump and dump, many players enter the market and start leaving Altcoin. we need to learn, That we should know when we are in altcoin market and when we should be in market bitcoin.
So bitcoin just keeps going up and down and still not reaching much lower than 6k but everytime these surges with bitcoin happen alt prices keep taking a dive. Even though it seems like when bitcoin takes a dive alts take a dive when btc raises alts take a dive.
Does anyone know why this keeps happening like this usually once money comes out of btc it goes back into the alts and the price raises again but it does not seem to happen like that now. I have lost a lot more % in alts than if I were to just hold btc.
