A very nice idea. Coin technology is a new emerging technology and it is very nice to do educational work on this subject.

Good luck.

No way, please stop scamming people with no innovation altcoin any more, we need to be honest in online community, scamming is a serious crime.

He doesn't want to broadcast and disclose it to the people, he is just going to create this coin for his own purpose.

it wont ever be available for the public, it is just to prove something works.

This words from op will clearly tell that he doesn't have any intention to launch it to the public and will scam people or get investors.

It's a matter of building out his portfolio, maybe for learning purpose and getting more projects.

He's not wrong. He wants to create a project (a learning exercise if I'm interpreting correctly) and has no interest in monetary success--read the OP.
I see, that's why he asking to make altcoin project that won't ever published to public and just learning how altcoin works.
Nowadays if I'm not mistaken new altcoin project works with new gpu's (Just my limited thought, Nevermind I want to learn too).

Please read the whole thread first.

Most peoples don't care with the code which use to an altcoin or gpu, Asics , or anythings about the technical or technology behind that coin. Peoples just need to see a new born Developer making altcoins with an obvious goals. Let's back to the first question, cryptocurrencies is created for what? If you have different answer other than "to make easy internet payment", well you decent to create one.
That's not because you have a newbie account, it's all about your future plan. I beleive you have a great plan that give you courage to make this thread. If you sure to make this one success, make sure it's different.
This coin isn't meant to be a success lol.
No you're Wrong Martin, I agree with this statement, A coin can be successful If that coin had a good plans, ideas you have for your future project, I'm sure some of investors out there don't care with the code, they are be interested to see plans about it.
Just my opinion.

I am considering making an altcoin for a project, nothing special and it wont ever be available for the public, it is just to prove something works. My question is what is the best proof of work to use for an altcoin nowadays? I want something that doesn't have asics or is anywhere near asics becoming a thing for it. Preferably something works best with gpu's.
Eh.... i can't get your point If you're looking for the best proof of work coin in this day? Use your GPU to mine ethereum or DASH i think both are the hottest PoW in this time.

Yes that's right.  I learn better by doing and there's no need to flood the forums with another crap coin that some idiot made.

Oh I see, it's good to know that your intention is not just to add to those crap coins and earn a lot of bucks from it just like the usual newbies are wanting.
But if you are good enough in coding things will be easier to you. Have you read this article, this will help you somehow.

What? Another newbie that wants to create his own coin. But what you are planning is better than others, so you just need to create your own alt coin just like to add for your own portfolio and will be used for some private thing. Correct me if I'm wrong?
