One of the sleeping storage coin is Filecoin, it's still cheap for me. This project got lot of investor and community is incredible, this is a sleeping giant for me. Their market cap is huge, the price of Filecoin is still on sideways which for me is the best for allocation, alternative is Siacoin.
Data collection services are overwhelming. And services are built on a distributed system of data storage units. I have monitored the market and selected the most promising of the existing ones.
Big names that have raised millions of money.

Only project I know about is Siacoin which has already been suggested by another user. It's a good project per se but the project has not received many attention ms lately. I've known the project for like 3 years and haven't heard anything go wrong with the project yet except that no hype around the project. If you want to use it for development purposes, you can try out the project and see.

I've heard that as well and if it is still alive today, then, I guess, they are doing something right. Just head to their site - https://sia.tech/ and look if it will fit with OP's needs. They are top 107 right now, so better than most alts out there. They are also present in Binance, which translates that sia surpassed the strict requirements of binance.

I think the problem is that, many of these projects claims to be decentralized and from the way they operate, shows there is no iota of decentralization rather the team using decentralization aspects to get their aims. Also, the overwhelming number of new projects which poses to be decentralized has in one way or the other overshadowed the ones that are in fact decentralized, at least as it stands the most decentralized altcoin platform is Ethereum.
Nevertheless, I can't remember a lot of decentralized data storage platforms, just few and that is, Swarm, Filecoin and Sia, you can check coinmarketcap or Coingecko to know where to buy.

There is another project that is in partnership with Microsoft cloud storage, I think the name is files.fm, I don't know much about the development since it's been long since I followed the project but here is their official website link

I remember 2 projects
Storj (STORJ)
https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/storj#markets

Siacoin (SC)
https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/siacoin

They are trying to compete with Google Drive,Dropbox, Mega, Microsoft Azure and other similar services for centralized data storage

I am interested in projects that are configured for decentralized data storage. I wonder how many of them actually fulfill the stated, and who is just a dummy. Let's take it apart !!
