No, I think they move on leverage trading on bitcoin because bitcoin has more volatility and it is a good opportunity for everyone to earn but ofcourse theres more risk on leverage trading because the higher the leverage you use the higher chance to be liquidated more easily.

Maybe i am type of who like trading altcoins like usual. Already learn about leverage but not really understand about it. If altcoin maybe in bear market i will hold longer or do something at least to minimize my losses.

Leverage always wins. The best thing in trading is the volume of the exchange. With its high leverage, we can assume and hope that the price of a coin we like to trade will go up.

But, if you think that you badly need your coin to sell or trade that coin, then choose alts. It's all depends on what do you think the best option to take. Although it's hard to find alt seasons right now since the market is still like that.

Personally I will only wait for altcoin season. Because I'm not very good at leverage. If I want to try, I'm afraid that I will lose money later.
While waiting for the altcoin season to come, I better work in the real world. Keeping yourself busy so that you forget that the market is not so good lately. that's what I can do for now. Goodluck for you who do leverage!

Doing leverage was just a hassle for my everyday work, since I wasn't full time in trading. For now I still hold my tokens which has smaller market value, and I also hope it would grow during market recovery. If ever altcoins season will happen I would earn high potential gains to recover all the loss I had two years ago until present.

altcoin in my opinion is still the best, the risk is not as big as laverage, because for me laverage has a greater risk, it's because I also rarely use laverage,
if altcoin is easier and does not need to require a lot of knowledge, so for beginners altcoin is very suitable as a choice rather than leverage.

A clear shift on the market can be felt. Instead of trading altcoins, people nowadays are doing leverage. Maybe they got tired waiting for the new alt season.

Yesterday right before the collapse, $150 million of long positions were completely liquidated on Bitmex. Logically, it creates a sell pressure on the market and the price goes down, causing more long positions to be liquidated in a chain reaction. Of course, this is just one suggestion of why the collapse happened in a matter of just one hour.

Which one you consider better?

It's a very interesting thing to ponder.

I personally definitely see people shifting from investing in altcoins to investing with leverage, because alts were initially seen as a leveraged position on bitcoin themselves given how volatile they are.

With bitcoin dominance continuing to climb, it should be no surprise that people would rather trade on a more liquid derivatives market that can provide more upside, as opposed to the less liquid, less hyped alt market.

I am both an altcoin trader and a leverage trader.
When it comes to trading at this bear market's situation, we can actually consider some leverage trading. We can have an entry at short when we think the market will still continue to go down. But this leverage trading is so complicated and very risky compare to altcoin tradings in binance and in other exchanges.

If you aren't ready for so many liquidations, do not do leveraging unless you are aware of all the possible consequences. It's not about the long and the short entries but we are going to read technical analysis here.

I think leverage would be for traders, who would want to make money everyday but that would be good for altcoins because this would reduce day traders for their coin. It would help reduce price swing and which makes some coin stable.

I will go on leverage here. I don't think this is a new practice though, as it has been done by many traders in 2018 specially with the appearance of a lot of bots in the market. Probably this is just one reason for the sudden flash crash again. But there are still people trading altcoins though, but maybe not just as evident before, or traders just stop trading them for a while because of the long bearish market. But the point here is that there are ways to make money here, as long as you know how to execute it on the right time.

I choose altcoins over leverage because the risk of leverage is greater in my opinion, very dangerous if not
understand well with leverage strategies. Maybe for professional traders match leverage, but for me it will cause
I get worse if I choose leverage. Therefore I prefer altcoins that I understand better, despite market conditions
being down. We just need to be patient and remain optimistic.

I don't leverage and I will not consider it. I'm not good at it but I'm happy to see if there are traders that are making well with it.
Oh no. I definitely believe that Leverage trade should be used only by professionals. this trade destroyed the deposits of a huge number of people
Those extreme risk-takers can also take that. I'm avoiding this strategy, I like the traditional trading.

I'm personally staying well away from altcoins in general, unless there's something absolutely outstanding.

Right now, anything under the top 50 is very unlikely to do well in the long term, and most are performing poorly against Bitcoin even in the short term.

However, there's a few exceptions in the top 50, like Chainlink and Bitcoin SV, which seem to gather serious support during rallies, but then get absolutely rekt when the market dips.

Leverage trading is not as easy as altcoin trading, and even if we compare the risks, the difference becomes more solid but, this difficulty makes leverage trading more profitable, of course to those who can. IMO if you are not knowledgeable about the market, choose spot trading. When you feel ready in the future, you will find the right one.

I am personally engaged in both trades. Whichever I think is the right time, I will. Wink

Leveraged trading is a very risky thing and it is more like gambling especially when you are trying it just out of greed and just want to get rich overnight, personally i do not like and suggest leverage trading because i have seen more people loosing instead of making any gains from it.

Trading with leverage higher than x2 is asking for trouble. If you're doing it on an unpredictable manipulated market like cryptocurrencies you must be nuts or suicidal or both.
Most traders lose money but these are normal traders. Out of leverage traders probably 90% get fucked. Want to join them? Be my guest.
Trading with leverage is the same as gambling.

The risk goes like this. Bitcoin < ETH < one of the top 10 alts < a decent less popular altcoin like NRG < shitcoins < Leverage trading and gambling.

Both can be highly profitable, but at least with altcoins you can't get fully liquidated. You can get rekt thought and ending up holding bags for 2 year bear run. While high leverage you could make or lose money in hours. But with all the zig-zag wicks i feel like high leverage is worse then just gambling in the casino. Sure there are winners too but you have to be lucky and know your stuff. Just knowing your ta stuff doesn't cut it imho.

Your views are really short sighted as 2 years is nothing to judge bitcoin and trust me bitcoin will survive this bearish market and rise again. Investors know it better than us about the market situation and they don't just blindly invest in bitcoin.  We need to look for a long term plan and honestly bitcoin was not designed as a get Rick quick scheme. I would request you to have faith in bitcoin my friend and you will not regret it. Investors are cashing out only to invest more post dump.

The current situation is very risky for both of the options. Leverage is riskier than short term altcoin trading. so I will go with altcoins trading. with leverage, there is a chance that you will lose all your money. but with altcoin, there is a chance than you won't lose all your bankroll. The price of altcoin is very cheap right now. most of the altcoins are down over 80% so buying a very big bag of these coins can bring a fortune in the future. Only if you want to take risk I would suggest going with altcoin but if you want to feel safe maybe wait for a few more months for the market to become mature. I saw some predictions that getting at this price is still profitable for the long term.

Op, this is a ridiculous question.  It's like asking if you should eat an orange or fix your muffler.

Traders need to be very careful when using leverage, and I've heard some exchanges are offering them the chance to use over 100x leverage.  That can be disastrous, especially when trading altcoins.  True, the potential profit can be enormous but the risk is so great that you really need to be experienced before trading on margin at any percentage of leverage.  Personally I wouldn't do it at all, but I'm well aware of how many gamblers there are in the world of crypto.

Someone once told me that if your knowledge in normal trading is 100/100, then it means that your knowledge in margin/leverage trading is 5/100, and later I understood that he was absolutely right.
Well stated.  I bet the average trader starting to use leverage is going to end up bankrupt, sooner rather than later.  This is the problem that arises when interest rates are so low that borrowing as much money as you want to trade cryptocurrency is dirt cheap.  It's dangerous in my opinion.

Using leverage needs very, very, very careful risk management, and many people lose everything because they can't manage their money/risk well.

Someone once told me that if your knowledge in normal trading is 100/100, then it means that your knowledge in margin/leverage trading is 5/100, and later I understood that he was absolutely right.

Due to the very low percentage of people who make money from leverage trading more than they lose money, I have no faith in it.

Altcoin is much better than doing leverage. The big dump has already created by the whale and that happens only with bitcoin and as you can see the altcoin still stay on its position if you are seeing it from the bitcoin term.
They are not got tired for the new altcoin season but I remember about there was a whale who has been moving his bitcoin to the exchange site.
Isn't it the stability of the bitcoin gives more chance to the altcoin traders to get more volatility compared with bitcoin is having a very big volatility on its market?

Sell pressure is only happening with bitcoin right now and altcoins are getting pressure in the fiat term.
Im holding altcoin and I have been watching it since bitcoin dump has already started.
Leverage is too risky in this time.

Naturally, when someone starts complaining and withdraws from investment, because it has spent a lot of time for two years and spent large amounts of funds, so when it is not as expected, everyone will automatically complain and withdraw from it.

Leverage is the flavor of the day that's for sure, but to be honest, how many people trade with leverage and don't get rekt? This again is feeding the greed of this fledgling market and I see another wave of noobs getting mega rekt in the process. Of course, a lot of whales are making hefty sums of money and most short the market like yesterday and make a killing. It takes a lot of bullish activity to raise the price of Bitcoin and other Cryptos, but it takes only a few hours to completely trash the price, as we saw yesterday again. This leverage trading is destroying any chance of moon in the foreseeable future. The only thing that has a chance now is to invest in some gem of a coin that through its development might do a 10 or 20 x price hike.

I prefer altcoins that will surge in the face of plunging bitcoin. Even if there is sell pressure on bitcoin, there are some altcoins that will not be affect and if there will be any effect, I will be insignificant. Particularly at this this, altcoins !right be more preferable, but you need to choose wisely.

It's not really a surprise to see leverage platforms do well, mainly because of how easy to access and use they are. It's also offering an advantage in the way that you don't really need volatility anymore.

If you want to increase your risk exposure for higher returns, then simply crank up your leverage count and this can be done in a matter of seconds. People somehow don't seem to care about the risk they exposure themselves to.

If you want even more risk exposure, apply leverage on already volatile altcoins and there you have the perfect formula that grants you similar odds as what a casino can offer you when you go all in on black. It's pure gambling.

Leverages works for those who know how to play the game, in this type of unstable market movement you can lose your funds in leverage as well as trading, its just ridiculous if anyone is not expecting this type of market we are in now, things can't keep going right

I would not choose any of the options.
Using margin trading in the cryptocurrency market is more risky than in other markets. There is always a chance of a hard change in price, like yesterday. Many altcoins are illiquid, so people abandon this trade in favor of margin trading.
So, now is not the best time for both trade and investment. Maybe I'm too picky ...

Leverage is a good option in the bear market and bull market because we can get profit by shorting or longing. But doing the leverage is not an easy matter, in an unpredictable market, everything can happen not to mention how BitMex did to their leverager(sudden changes in the price causing many people to get liquidated).
while buying altcoin right now is not any better than leverage, even though it is the same there is an advantage in buying altcoin. No matter how low the price is, you will never lose anything if you do not sell it, so I prefer buying altcoin than doing the leverage.
