You asked the ultimate question. If someone has the answer, it won't be given to you for free.
There is no easy way. Think of it as high risk high reward.

I can help you with the easiest, stress free method. Start by deciding the amount of money that you can afford to lose.
First, you need to realize that the bitcoin train has left the station and we missed it.
Next, spend some time reading and learning about new cryptos. Search for new coins that offer innovative ideas, low price and high interest by the public. If you think it will be in high demand in the future the price will go up. If you can't decide on a coin, then diversify.

I recommend privacy coins. Look for open-source and decentralized coins that offer private transactions.

It is not quite clear what you're asking. If you were to make a payment in a store using an altcoin, that would have to include some conscious thought. Are you against this?

If you want something that's only "running in the background", perhaps this could be the kind of micro payments which are expected to be very prevalent in IoT. For example, the IOTA project aims to be a cryptocurrency that would make such micro payments possible.

Something that seamlessly incorporates into daily life so i dont have to consciously think about it?

Perhaps with incentives of some sort

Preferably idiot proof with almost zero required effort?
