All are crap, PPC is even worse. Just a waste of hash power.
Not really, I sold >2.25 million shares worth of hashing power to people who wanted to use it to mine PPCoin  Wink

From the research I've done it seems like LTC is the forerunner in altcoins. Although I haven't looked that much into PPC.

I read a little about PPCoin but couldn't tell if it was getting off the ground or not due to conflicting forum posts.  Anyone have any hands on with PPCoin?  It seems like people are buying/trading LTC this is what lead me to believe it was gaining ground.  I just saw today someone selling silver ingots for LTC.  Of course it's hard to tell on the internet what is fluff and is just marketing hype.

I wouldn't use a currency that sounded like I was talking to my toddler about going potty... 'PP'? that was the best they could come up with, seriously?

Yes hashes won't be a problem once GPUs and FPGAs become worthless for Bitcoin -but we need also people to buy that coins  Roll Eyes

Litecoin is nice, but faster transactions is just not worth the hassle. PPCoins are getting a lot of press, but, inflationary currency, without a really hard limit? Although proof-of-stake is an interesting concept, I'd be surprised if people bought it when they have a deflationary Bitcoin.

Litecoin looked like it has the most promise to me so far but I haven't worked with it all yet.  I'm just trying to wrap my head around what void any of the alt currencies fill other than allowing all the miners that are getting squeezed out by asics an opportunity to continue to mine.  Or is that just it, giving people a way to keep mining is the point?

Litecoin is dying due to lack of infrastructure.

Litecoin is doing pretty OK. Here take a look at the charts. http://www.litecoinpool.org/charts

So I just discovered Alternative Crypto Currencies such as litecoin, PPCoin, etc...  Is there a front runner in that race?  I'm extremely intrigued by the idea of running a cpu miner for one of those on my btc mining rigs so I'm interested in hearing any good/bad experiences people have had with the alt currencies.
All-time, I would say the most successful experiment was Namecoin, followed by Solidcoin and Litecoin. Unfortunately, Solidcoin is dead due to a moron being the lead developer, Namecoin is dead due to merged mining, and Litecoin is dying due to lack of infrastructure.
