I am trying to just run the hashing boards without any fans, which I have found to be all but impossible with BITMAIN's firmware because it shuts down as soon as it detects there are no fans running. So I need something that will run just S9 boards without any fans connected.

Bitmain firmware is dependant on the fans present.

If you have noise complaint, try replacing fans or running them at 0%? The stock fans are 6000 rpm, anything above 3200 is too loud for housing.

take el-cheapo small fans and break off the blades so the hub spins free or rig up a pulse generator to feed the fans tach line (yellow wire). Gee how terribly inconvenient that the miner firmware looks for dead fans... Wink

It would be nice to have an alternate controller..I have an s7 where the controller committed suicide...the raspberry pi zero would be a cheap alternative..but thats just me dreaming....

two of these make an old batch 1 to batch 13? controller

I have 1 spare set.

I also have 1 spare 1 piece new controller with auto tune.

Are there any controllers that are compatible with Antminers (specifically the s-9) such as a rasbperry pi?

I've only known the raspberry pi that are compatible with the Antminer and my friend is using it with his Antminer U3 why would you want other controller if you had known the raspberry pi? And if you are planning on running more than one Bitcoin miner at the same time, it is best to use a powered USB hub. Take into account the power rating as mining will need a lot of power, as much as one mp per miner.

I'm unsure what you just told him? what does a usb hub have to do with anything on the antminers???

As for controller, I believe the stock one CAN control 9? or was it 12? boards?
So you could basterdize them.

Maybe if the op gave a bit more info on what they are after out of this question?
As for directly plugging boards into a pi, No that's not possible.

I am saying that Every time you connect a USB device into a computer just like the Rasberry pi in this case, the usb device drains power from the computer. The more usb devices you use the more power you drain from the computer.
The Rasberry Pi is a low powered device and can only provide very limited power to connect peripheral devices.

A powered usb hub connects to the usb on the raspberry pi but has it's own separate power supply. It also allows you to split one usb port into many usb ports.

The last such project done that would work on a device like a rpi were related to S1/S3 boards hooked up to a USB/UART connection, running a Bitmain like version of cgminer. No such projects have been undertaken since then, I would just recommend you buy a BB Black from Bitmain.

I think you're don't understanding how the controller is built.
Or are you dreaming about replacing the BB board (Beaglebone Black) with a raspberry pi?
What is a Beaglebone Black: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BeagleBoard#BeagleBone_Black

You can only replace the Beaglebone Black on the S7 controller with a Beaglebone Black.
I would suggest to find out if the Beaglebone Black is dead or if the I/O board is dead.
