Do not get depressed and don’t give up easily, you can still make it here if you are fully ready as you said. Try to be going through most discussions because they are always good; you will learn from people comments. You can also ask questions when the need arises and if you do so, make sure you go through the comments and learn from them.
The best recommendation now is to be dedicated, and use your time well to navigate and learn in the forum, don’t be in hurry to get merit because once you have learned and started given quality contributions in the forum, you will earn merits.
I don't know why some beginners find forum to be a burden that they find difficult to overcome - when in fact a forum is just a discussion forum where they can comment on other users' posts and argue just like they would respond to discussions with their peers in the real world.

All they need is knowledge of what is being discussed – while they don't need to force themselves to post a lot of topics they don't understand. Of course - learn and learn is good advice for any beginner, but don't make the forum a burden.

I buy all valid country Gift cards swiftly.
I believe you must have gotten all the deserved answers for this your quest and you should be acting on them.
Another thing worth adding which I believe, others must have said is that, you shouldn’t be in a haste to create topics or even respond to threads, but right now, you should focus on reading and equipping yourself with the right knowledge about the forum, and I also want to remind you that, no one came here a guru but we all learnt along the process which I’m sure your case wouldn’t be different, as I believe you’ll easily learn more when you spend more time reading and observing what others are saying and how the forum works, by then, you’ll know the next and best step for you to take.

Goodluck and also be very open to criticism as that’s one of the easiest way to learn from your mistakes and errors in the forum, rather than getting angry at every correction made towards you irrespective of their tune.

Help!!!

Hello everyone, I am a newbie and am in dire need of help as I'm eager to learn but I have little or no experience on how to navigate through the forum.
Navigating the forum shouldn't be your problem. In as much as you can browse and navigate random websites, this forum is not a difference.

I joined the forum late 2022 but most of my discussions are being moved to off topics, probably because my discussions aren't of good qualities.
Yes, it is not only about good quality. Your post can be of good quality but if it is not on topic, it will be moved to off topic board.

One of the reasons why I got depressed and left but I am back now, in good health and sane mind, ready to learn to improve the quality, and also give back positive impact to the community.
There's no reason good enough to cause you depression in a discussion forum. Here is not a company or a higher institution.

Please kindly recommend me books and guide on how to be better.
Thanks in advance

Improvement comes from consistency and determination so if you want to improve you have to be consistent and determined and I assure you of a better outcome or result. You don't need recommendation on book to read or study there are so many threads that can help you improve, just that you haven't taken your time to go through the forum very well. It is very funny sometimes how we go out looking for something that is already with us. Calm down and go through the forum very well and you will see the answer to your question

The mistake that most newbies without prior crypto experience make is that they're in a hurry to start topics and I don't think that there's any rule in the forum that mandates it. So if a newbie don't have any meaningful topics to start, let them focus on making crypto research on social media and learn from discussions of experienced members, then they can start making comments and eventually begin to start quality topics.

There are pinned threads in every board that you open, you should go through them and they'll guide you through, the forum is very organized, even without asking questions, a newbie can navigate through, and not break forum rules.

It is okay to join discussions that you are starting to learn. You can ask questions that you are really interested with. But don't derail the threads because you can't please everyone but as you can see, this is a huge community that has every member willing to help the other members that have questions.

Take time in reading, don't rush and all you have to do is to take those topics that you have interest in knowing or you already have an idea to share what you know. Because not everyone started in being an expert, and not all newbies aren't experts in some topics that they already know.

Thank you for coming back to the Bitcoin Forum. If you want to gain experience in Bitcoin forums, you must devote enough time here. If you can donate enough of your time here you can get a lot out of Bitcoin Forums. The people I see here in very good positions are also once like you but due to their enough skill and enough hard work they are in the best position here today. Challenge yourself as best you can. Whenever you can create a strong challenge within yourself, you can do something for yourself. Your post has been removed. Maybe your post is not up to standard here. Always read more posts of senior members to improve the quality of posts then I think you can make good posts. Keep up the good work and hope you achieve better things in the future.

Like I have said in my earlier response to another thread today, it's best you learn from what people are doing, experience is the best teacher it applies to bitcointalk forum too. The more you are active in the forum you will find discussions of your interests that you're well acquainted with it's knowledge and perhaps you will start making valuable contributions.

Apart from reading bitcoin related topics, I believe you're acquainted with the forum to some extent you know how to navigate the forum all wide hence I will suggest you read through all the pinned threads they most of guides for each boards and generally for the forum at large. You can also visit www.learnmeabitcoin.com to learn basic bitcoin knowledge in order to flow with the daily conversations here.

From the above replies you have got I believe by now you should be reading the threads and links shared to you already and hence make good use of them and hoping this time you don't get depressed with the forum rules to the extent of leaving again.

You can't really learn how to be a high rank forum member (and join a signature campaign, because let's be honest that's what you want). It's eaither something that comes naturally because you are enjoying it, or it does not. If you are forcing yourself to make posts, to chase "quality", then you won't ever be a good forum user. A good forum user is first of all just a Bitcoin enthusiast. If you're only interested in Bitcoin because its price is growing up - that's not enthusiasm.

The summary of it all is read all pinned threads and engage in active quality discussions. You are good to go.
Even I, haven’t been here for at least 5years haven’t gone through all the pinned threads. Besides, pinned threads are mainly instructive threads that guides newbies or beginners on how the forum is run, what is what and where that fits. While it might prove helpful to OP in not having the user’s thread moved to off topic, I would like to advise that, you give Bitcoin some time and focus.

OP, you’ve been so passive and at the time, you’re not really sure if this is what you need or where you should be. Haven’t created your account some 2years ago, you ought to have learnt a lot and even scaled some ranks on the forum but, you’ve been on and off.

One advice I’ve given to beginners over the years is that, don’t try to learn all at once because you can’t. Just ensure you take it a step at a time, developing interest in anything Bitcoin or cryptocurrency related, read pop ups, headlines/articles and take notes of abbreviations where you find them. Ensure you understand vividly what is being explained before you proceed. That’s one means to follow through on Bitcoin, cryptocurrency matters and the forum.

If you really want to improve yourself then start learning about Bitcoin. This forum is the no.1 community forum for Bitcoin users and if you really want to be a good member of this forum then you'll have to learn about Bitcoin.

I suggest you to start learning about Bitcoin by reading topics in Bitcoin discussion board, Beginners  & Help board, and in Speculation board. Try to read as many topics as you possibly can and then ask questions if you don't understand the topics.

I also recommend you to pick one book about Bitcoin and read that book 1 hour daily for 2 months to get familiar with the basics of Bitcoin. Although, information about each aspect of Bitcoin is available on this forum but as a beginner, a book could be of good help.

Welcome back. As you’re probably aware, this forum is a bitcoin forum hence the information on here majorly revolves around bitcoin. If you’re willing to learn, there’s literally no hindrance stopping you from doing so. As for your posts being moved to off topic, it isn’t necessarily due to low quality, it’s likely cause your posts aren’t related to the topic or the board you posted in. Perhaps as you continue learning and familiarize yourself more with the forum, you’ll generally improve on your knowledge and likely won’t get your posts moved over to off topic.

Be open minded, willing to shift position and have a change of heart on things when presented with facts. Read more.

The reasons why your contributions were moved to off topic could be because your contributions were not related to what was been discussed if not it won't be moved to off topic. The best thing to do is not to get depressed rather you work on improving your knowledge and concentrate on contribution to discussions and threads you understand what is been discussed there, rushing to write on topics you have ideas of is totally wrong it can be seen as spamming since it adds no value to what is been discussed. Reading the comments of others is another good way of improving you must not contribute in everything.

I am happy that you are back again after giving a break for some certain reasons you have narrated above. Your grammatical structure is connected and understandable, so I am sure English language is not your problem. What I think is your major problem is focused and determination. You have to be determined to succeed here before you can. Also the forum is so broad and that does not mean that you will have to engage in all the boards in the forum. You can easily make an off topic discussion when you discuss in the subjects that you know little/nothing about. Since here is Bitcoin forum, it will make a better sense if you focus on studying about Bitcoin. There are a lot of articles especially in the Bitcoin discussion board that teaches about bitcoin and the general internet can also give an edge in studying Bitcoin. That being said, everything is available for you, just explore and prosper.

I think the reason on why most of the posts that you comment are moved to off-topic is because the thread itself is too generic or a spam.

Generally, you want to involve into discussions where the topics are somehow unique and interesting. Avoid certain generic topics that have been asked multiple times across this forum. Though that may be the case, I still think that despite the thread being moved to off-topic, that still is irrelevant. What matters is that you delved into a discussion which involves an application of knowledge about your cryptocurrency experience.

If you are eager to earn merits in order to rank up, then the challenge here is for you to create certain discussions that will spark the interest of many. Remember, knowledge is free- the internet has most of the knowledge that you need regarding cryptos. All you need to do is to search and be patient!

Good luck, OP!

What if OP makes this forum a place to learn with the aim of making progress because in this forum we both aim to advance each other with the principle of prioritizing mutual need.
This is a Bitcoin forum and the progress that is expected here is more focused on knowledge about Bitcoin and all other knowledge related to crypto.

Please join the discussion on each topic that is relevant to your goals. Don't know, ask.
If less, I think the space to make personal progress can be found in the internet search space.

Pardon me with my words OP, but you're a bit sensitive IMO.

Most of your discussions are moved to off-topics and you got depressed already? I looked at your past topics that you've made, and fair enough, they really are good to be in the off-topic section. Mood Swings? K-Pop? Breakfast? Where you will put that thread that you created especially that K-pop thing LOL!!! Looking at the threads you created and your name, I assume that you're a female that's a bit sensitive. My apologies with my words, but as you stay longer here, you will hear criticisms, maybe some foul words, and some hurtful opinions coming from different users. Are you ready for that? If yes, then welcome back. Smiley

Please kindly recommend me books and guide on how to be better.
Thanks in advance
When I was starting, I only read books about financial literacy. I didn't read books about crypto because there wasn't any at that time (or there are some, but not that popular). There are 2 things that helped me learn more about crypto. Bitcointalk, and YouTube. Reading threads here, and watching documentaries online. Those 2 helped me learn more about crypto, and what I learned there is what I'm sharing here. I continued to read, and watch until I learned the basics only. Cheesy No time for the coding part or the complex ones.

Anyway, welcome back and I hope you will stay, and learn here. As for the rules, many have said it already. Continue learning, and invest in Bitcoin. Tongue

The only way you can learn in the forum is bt reading and scanning through other people's post to see how they do there thing.
You need to be ready to read and read more often than trying to make post. In this way, you are going to learn more faster than trying to read books which is not bad but that could take you slower which is still a good way to do your things.
There are many ways we could learn from the forum either by reading books or trying to do more if research so that you could get to understand somethings about the crypto world. Do your findings and own it down.
Good luck on your journey!

Hello everyone, I am a newbie and am in dire need of help as I'm eager to learn but I have little or no experience on how to navigate through the forum.

Maybe you will have to give it the required time and efforts in reading more than you often post here, this will help you in a lot ways to get used to the forum, but you will have to start from the forums rules and regulations, once you're done with that, then you get used to many of the pinned threads and what others are discussing on meta board and reputation, if you're not active, you're not likely to get used to some of these things needed to know about the forum because the more you go the clearer you see.

I joined the forum late 2022 but most of my discussions are being moved to off topics, probably because my discussions aren't of good qualities.

Exactly, you need to have an idea on what you're making a post on, not that you just make a reply that will carry less quality content or off topic reply, and such will not be deleted, you can read further from this.

Maybe the reason why this forum contributed to your depression is because you took it very seriously. This forum is just like every other platform where people engage in discussions and nothing more. Don't see the attacks or moving of your post off-topic as anything serious just enjoy the discussions. I am happy that you discovered the reason why your posts were moved and you are back to contribute to the forum. My only advice is to read more and post less. Keep learning and expanding your knowledge about Bitcoin and the forum and you will end up becoming a quality poster. In my early days in this forum, I focused more on learning and would ask questions or do research to learn anything I didn't understand in the course of learning. However, reading the Bitcoin Whitepaper will also give you foundational knowledge about Bitcoin.
I guess everyone has experienced that off-topic posts, but the fact that you consistently experience it, then there must be something wrong on your chosen threads or your discussion is not on point to your topic or thread, so it’s normal to move it to off-topic. However, do not see it as a failure but treat it as your challenge to make your post right and refrain from participating in a discussion where you have no relevant information to add.

Maybe you take this too seriously that you forgot to enjoy the forum instead. Just improve your reading habit and I’m sure, you’ll eventually make a quality and precise post throughout the process. Keep calm and never pressure yourself, instead motivate yourself more and keep learning from others relevant posts.

Welcome back to the forum. I don’t want to believe that people get depressed over merits and ranks. Now that your back, I suggest you develop your interest in Bitcoin, be active in your local board and be consistent in posting. Your old topics were moved to off-topic section because they were more fitted to that board. It should not be surprisingly to you that a topic that has nothing to do with Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies is not getting any merits.  That’s something you should work on changing.

Hello everyone, I am a newbie and am in dire need of help as I'm eager to learn but I have little or no experience on how to navigate through the forum.
You spent time here, made 40 posts here, wrote this topic but did not spend your time to read pinned thread in Beginners & Help.

Newbies - Read before posting.

When you read that pinned thread, you will get a link to a topic for forum rules.

Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ

Off-topic - "Other topics that might be of interest to bitcoiners"
If you did not create those topics and only replied in those topics, that later were moved to Off-topic board, read them again and try to understand why those topics were moved to Off-topic board, then avoid to reply in similar threads.

If you created those threads, stop creating similar threads because your similar threads will be moved to Off-topic board again.

Being active in the forum will only be the solution to your problem. Although reading other resources is also a good option, but the forum alone is already highly proven effective for learning even for beginners. Note that posts that are made without good analysis will often be mark as off-topic, so don’t rush in posting if you are clueless on how to make your post right. Try to gain insights and ideas first from those legendary ranks and learn from their way of posting, that helped me before so I’m sure that will also help you as well.

The summary of it all is read all pinned threads and engage in active quality discussions. You are good to go.
That’s all the OP needs and how to use the forum search bottom to avoid posting an existing thread.

Furthermore, the OP needs to be active and interaction quality discussions going on in the forum, it will help the OP very well because going through comments alone can be enough to learn in this forum.

Being eager to learn is good, but learn with caution and avoid following any news from social media.

This book can be useful because it always recommended to beginners that need basic knowledge about Bitcoin

It's not hard and we all started the same way as you being confused at first, but the only thing I can suggest to you is for you to read the rules and regulations of this forum very well and after that you read a lot of comments that are posted on any topic you fine interesting, spend more time in reading than writing and also chose to respect other and always buy into new ideas that are superior to your own Understanding.

Based on the time frame you said you joined this forum, you're expected not to be addressed as a newbie here in the forum. Better of you can say you've been here for those while and yet haven't been able to make quality posts.
I don't mean to get you more depressed but I can tell you that there are forum users who signed up to this forum by the beginning of the year who're currently doing well and they're being so proud of themselves.

What's the different between you and these described forum users? It's simple to be denotedemoted by understand the reality fact that they were submittedbwjd dedicated to learn nomatter how  hard the situation maybe such as uneasy to cope with the forum and the forum users criticisms at them will be tolerated to say that it's either then learn in the hard way of the other ways.
Meanwhile you were at the thought of being a master even at your learning stages and when you're being sanctioned or corrected or even when you're seemed not to be recognized, toyou'd always feel sentimental. This would really be why you got depressed, giving such long break from the forum without being able to achieve an aim or the primary reason why you were here since all those while.

Let me tell you Op, the forum hasn't really changed from what you may think you'd be thought with a sympathy emotions. Psychologically who doesn't want to learn will never learn untill they're dedicated and submissive to learning with all diligence.
I wish you good luck at your returned. So welcome back fellow. Do well check out the fellas replies also the provided links for they'd profer help to your learnings.
Good luck.

I joined the forum late 2022 but most of my discussions are being moved to off topics, probably because my discussions aren't of good qualities.
One of the reasons why I got depressed and left but I am back now, in good health and sane mind, ready to learn to improve the quality, and also give back positive impact to the community.
Go engage other users on experienced-based thread questions . Post/answer on fact-based thread questions with sources and avoid very long repeated, boring reply, posting on opinionated thread won't give you merit too.
But first in the list, read the forum rules, board-specific rules (most sre stickied), understand and follow it.

Help!!!

Hello everyone, I am a newbie and am in dire need of help as I'm eager to learn but I have little or no experience on how to navigate through the forum.
I joined the forum late 2022 but most of my discussions are being moved to off topics, probably because my discussions aren't of good qualities.

Please kindly recommend me books and guide on how to be better.
Thanks in advance

The reason for your threads or topics getting moved to off-topic isn't because they are of low quality, if posts are of low quality, serve no purpose, or are repetitive, they are removed and aren't moved to off-topic. The reason probably is that you are posting your threads and topics in the wrong sections, and they must have no clear indication about what they are discussing so they are moved to off-topic section.
And you shouldn't get depressed because of that, you should learn from your mistakes and grow with that. You should check out the rules of the forum and follow them, and try to surf more and post less if you think you don't know much as of now.

OP, my first thought was, grow up and stop asking for spoon feeding. That's somewhat harsh, maybe? Maybe not.

I took a quick look over your post history and I'm not going to comment much about it as I didn't want to spend time to look closer and see your posts also in the context of those threads where you decided to engage. As others said, you mostly write in sections that are likely rarely honored with merits.

What is your goal here? What do you want to achieve? Think about it and don't take those two questions too easy.

For me this forum is mainly a forum about Bitcoin, crypto coins in general, but I focus mainly on Bitcoin only, anything related to that. I discovered Bitcoin around 2011. Did I understand some details of it back then? Not really, looking back from today's perspective. Back then I certainly thought about my knowledge differently. Overconfidence can be a problem... Grin

I had my first account in those early years, lost it due to a forum hack and wasn't able or willing to recover it. I wasn't terribly active with my first account and not very successful, too, in terms of merits and rank. So, I didn't cry tears for abandoning my first account. All I knew was, I had to do better with my now second account.

But I didn't really focus on developing my current account. All I realised was to have a different posting attitude, less ranting, more constructive engagement and contribution. Less negative bits, more positive. Yes, you can blow off some steam from time to time, but better not constantly.  Cheesy

I admit I don't care much about various topic corners which also exist in this forum. I'm here mostly for topics around Bitcoin. All I know about Bitcoin, I learned here or myself at various other nice websites. And I'm still learning...

Depressed? For what exactly? You are eager to rank up for signature else I don't think ranking up in this forum worth been depressed but don't get me wrong, there is nothing absolutely wrong in signature earnings.

I want to highlight some of the mistakes and things you are doing wrong since you registered into this forum. You have been making threads about life situation that are neither politics or speculation and those kinds of threads belong to off topic discussion, all boards in this forum are created for special discussion, so when you post something that is not related, they take it off.

Secondly, you haven't been active in places where merit are most time available, you should visit places that are not spamming like the altcoin discussions and the rest that do have less engaging threads.

Soln: Take your time and read this:- Newbie-Read before posting, learn about everything Bitcoin and understand why you need to learn about Bitcoin and you will be fine.

As someone has already pointed out, "Read the pinned tweet of every board before posting"
Your post being moved to "off-topic" doesn't necessarily mean your post isn't of good quality, it may be because your post doesn't fit right in any of the available boards.
I'd advise you to read more. When you read you'll learn and when you learn you'll have something to impact others. You can't give what you do not have.
You said you need to improve, the only way you can improve is to read and research. Have a critical mind and ask questions. You're here to learn about Bitcoin and everything related to it and this is a perfect place for that.

If you must make a post, make sure it's on the right board and make sure it has quality. Something that can impact or help other forum members in any way. Before commenting on a post, read and understand the post, also read a few replies on the post, so you don't make a post not related to the curry discussion.
Your first goal is to learn, then you can impact others on what you have learned.

Message @Hhampuz if you are looking for a CM!
You know, if you think you are still not capable enough to make good discussion, then focus on learning first and learn from the post of other forum members. No one will force you to make posts, but always be active in the forum and explore the different boards as well so you will gain an idea what kind of thread that receives more merits and those who are not.

The forum is giving us an opportunity to make quality posts, and within that opportunity, maximize your time in learning from the posts of higher rank members until you get to absorb your own and make your own quality post in the making.

We are both newbies and any advice I give you now, I want you to know that I am using the same advice too.

Just like you I don't know my right from my left in this forum but I have hardened my mind to take criticism as it comes because I know as a newbie criticism is inevitable, most of your post are in the off topic section and I don't think it's a good thing, try to engage and explore more on other section and if you don't understand anything please don't join in the discussion, try to follow some of our top rankers and study the way they post and engage in the forum. Do not copy anyone, be your original self, we are all anonymous here so don't let what you see here affect your mental health.

Below is a link to an interesting thread I came across with in the forum and I think it will help you https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.49737807

You gain experience by experiencing the forum. There are lots of information on here for you to consume, the search option at the top will help you find them. The Help icon will give you the basics on how to use forum features.

I joined the forum late 2022 but most of my discussions are being moved to off topics, probably because my discussions aren't of good qualities.
Do more reading than thread starting.

This is just on online forum, do not give it so much importance that it affects your mental health.

What do you believe in?
@OP, we live by learning, and learning comes from reading or when you carefully take note of what others are doing. I am not saying you should copy and paste what others have written, but learn from others, have the idea that is being discussed, and also share your idea if you have a valid one, and by so doing, you will blend in.

If you don't have any serious concerns to discuss or  don't have quality topics to discuss, then you don't have to create a new topic; you can only concentrate on reading other people's topics and making your contribution. Also, before creating a topic, make sure to use the forum search to confirm that such a topic has not been created.

Only comment on topics on which you are sure of what to say; that's to avoid spamming or shitposting. Welcome back, mate.

Block halving is coming.
Since this is a Bitcoin forum you need to learn more about Bitcoin so that if someone needs help related to Bitcoin you can help them and provide quality posts that should be the first thing you need to do like sample how to secure a wallet if you have knowledge about securing a wallet then you can provide a quality post and expect to receive some merits and you should always be active here on the forum.

I think the topic for merits is what you need to improve your self to become better here on the forum check the link below.
