Given Bitcoin's recent price trend, the staff must be dumping their coins as soon as they get them.

I dunno, i'd dump or trade some and keep a few for now and watch the price

Why? If they got paid when BTC was at~$170 then they're probably pretty happy right now. It's all about timing.
And I'm guessing most of them opted for small % of their salaries to be paid in bitcoin anyway.

It's called dollar cost averaging.

Holy meaningless graphics, Batman!

(Dollar cost averaging is a perfectly sensible concept though)

The dots show buys, even while other people may be panicking or over excited, they purchase at regular intervals no matter the emotional state of the market. Doing so gives you an average price you pay out over time.

Here is one with the words dollar cost averaging in it:

Getting  paid in BTC in the fundamental for BTC to be a success. Right now getting BTC is very difficult outside buying it directly in a exchange which defeats the purpose of a legit economy. I wish I could get a big salary in BTC for work.

Just think that if getting BTC would have been so easy like you said you wish to get a big salary in BTC for your work, then who will value BTC and why? What exactly would be behind BTC that would push it ahead if it's so easy to be achieved?

Ha-ha ah so true tokeweed so true
Although I though amagi went into an all bitcoin position a while back so I kind of presumed they were all already being paid in Bitcoin as well, guess not since they are still leaving the US dollar by 2017.

On a serious note, this is what everyone needs in order to believe in crypto-world as its seeming totally a P&D scheme nowadays and not something meant to work for...

Nice to see this, now the price needs to have a valid and the necessary reaction to such a thing.

Many companies are now accepting and paying in bitcoin.

The price will react on its own.

I am sure as bitwage.co gets more and more people switching over to people getting paid in Bitcoin the price will have to rise to accommodate the demand.

Very nice!

It's great to see precious metals and Bitcoin joining hands... goodbye fiat money... Smiley

The more companies doing this, the better.

My (nsfw) store pays it's supplier in BTC, we only accept cryptos, shame we cant pay our bills like electricity in BTC just yet. So Amagi isn't completely unique in that regard, but they are defo inspirational!

You may want to check out Brawker.

This guy was able to pay one of his bills through there:

Basically put the explanation in the additional details portion and get it paid. I still need to test brawker.

Nice. If only every company adopts the same approach like what AM is doing. Even on my own, what I do is I set aside a certain percentage of my salary into a specific investment fund which I'm currently using it to buy bitcoin.

I wasn't aware that Amagi Metals are so bullish on bitcoin:

http://www.coindesk.com/gold-dealer-amagi-metals-now-pays-staff-bitcoin/

Quote
Precious metals dealer Amagi Metals announced it is now paying its entire staff in bitcoin via payroll service provider Bitwage.

They don't pay 100% of wages in BTC though:

Quote
Every employee at Amagi Metals has set a percentage of their paycheck, both big and small, that they wish to be paid in bitcoin. To demonstrate his support, Macaskill will personally be paid roughly $40,000 of his salary in bitcoin this year.

Good to hear they didn't enforce it on everyone and it was completely voluntary.

Quote
The move forms part of the company's plan to 'divorce' the US dollar by 2017, where it will stop accepting the fiat currency as payment method.

That's a bold statement. Hope it works fine for them.

Thoughts?
