They are pretty much just vouchers for Amazon purchases, no innovation there

Likely inspired by Bitcoins though.

Sweet when can I start trading them on btc-e?  Shocked

You should be able to Ripple them sometime soon...

Even sweeter, trading Amazoncoin IOUs for Ripples; this is gonna change the world

Nah... I would prefer Amazon Notes. At least I could wipe my ass with them, but coins are a no no for ass wiping Grin

And what's the point for buying these amazon coins, while you could not get a discount buying things with them?

Fancy name for an Amazon gift card, just muddies the water for the real coins out there.

Exactly what I was thinking....

Amazon Coins are not really a crypto currency, they are more like standard amazon vouchers, as they are centrally controlled by amazon.  Not a crypto currency by any definition.

Looks like Amazon is launching its own "digital currency".  I really with they would have adopted BTC but that's ok.  We still have a long road until BTC is mainstream.   Wink
