Is this actually a legitimate news? I don't see anything related to this but its actually a huge news which can be buzz if the Bezom himself addressed about this. Anyway if they are going to accept Bitcoin as direct payment the vision of Satoshi will be achieved to the maximum because Amazon is a place where tou can buy anything from anywhere.
We don't know the development yet, but the question in my heart is whether Amazon uses bitcoin as a means of payment there will not be a problem with the government, where of course there must be a permit from the government where Amazon stands regarding the legitimacy of Amazon itself as a business entity. but if this news is true, of course more and more people will adopt cryptocurrency
It will create problems for amazon because governments recognized bitcoin as an asset so how amazon is going to pay the taxes if they accept it as payment and if they allow then surely lot of people will start using bitcoin then governments will start accusing of people are evading taxes.

It is very likely that they won't keep most of the Bitcoin they accept as payment. Most likely they will turn it into FIAT straight away, that way they will avoid any serious complications when it comes to taxation. Anything that they decide to keep even for speculative purposes won't hurt their bottom line in anyway. In fact, if Amazon announces that they are going to accept Bitcoin, what is the likelihood that Bitcoin will dump afterwards? Medium to long-term there is a high chance that Bitcoin will benefit from being introduced as a means of payment on Amazon's platform.

Another question - in addition to advertising and popularization, what benefit does Amazon see in such a step? I do not think that Bezos and Co. were altruists, and they just decided to accept payments in an asset that can sink a lot. So it can be considered a "signal" that bitcoin is doing well in the future?

PS. And another thought - such a large international company, accumulating and not throwing back into the market Bitcoins received in payment, can significantly affect the value of the asset - what do you think about this?

I'm not exactly sure that Amazon will accept bitcoin from this year but it's definitely good news. If an organization like Amazon adopts Bitcoin, its use of Bitcoin will increase and its acceptance among general and less knowledgeable users will increase. If it is possible to transact with Amazon using Bitcoin, it will be a great success in the case of cryptocurrency and its impact on Bitcoin will be considered positive. So we hope this is real news and it is going to be implemented soon.

Yeah, and some people will argue that it is not a good enough news, however they go about accepting btc in their system is good for btc, even if the news may not be real, it has generated a lot of exposure within this few days it was announced, just how PayPal slowly adopt btc, amazon will also dive in and don't want to lose out, am positive there is more to come.

A lot of eCommerce giants would like to accept Bitcoin, but the issue is that nowadays the authorities are becoming more and more hostile towards cryptocurrency. If anyone wants to make payment with BTC, then there will be a strict KYC requirement. Already the European Union is planning to introduce laws that would make anonymous transactions illegal. Details here:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/eu-wants-to-ban-crypto-anonymous-transactions-and-wallets-5350567

Two things - days of low tax regimen are over, and the governments are increasing their spending to appease the sections of public who are non-productive.

For me, this is one big reason why Bitcoin suddenly jumped from the previous consolidation range of $30k to $32k and now between $39k to $40k. It’s a good decision by Amazon to embrace Bitcoin in open arms, because they’ve finally been enlightened on how BTC payments would help boost not only their giant e-commerce platform, but also the adoption and awareness to its consumers.

It must be a fake. Amazon announced today that they will not accept Bitcoin. Even if they were working on Bitcoin integration, they wouldn't deny it so vehemently. The bitcoin price has also already reacted and has lost over 10% from its interim highs yesterday. It's just always amazing how unconfirmed rumors, can trigger such a price increase.

Their statement can be interpreted in multiple ways:

Quote
Notwithstanding our interest in the space, the speculation that has ensued around our specific plans for cryptocurrencies is not true

Here they are talking about "specific plans". IMO, they are just saying that the news that Amazon will start accepting from end of 2021 is not true, and they don't have a fixed timeline for this. And they also stated that they have some "interest in the space". It is not all gloomy, in my opinion. They are working on something related to cryptocurrency and we don't know the exact details.

Yes this is how I understand it as well. The chance that Amazon is doing nothing about cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology is essentially zero. A company that combines so many sectors of future importance under one roof is definitely also not losing sight of developments surrounding Bitcoin. They certainly have a little dedicated army working on Bitcoin/blockchain related stuff in order to at least stay up to date.

No matter how lame their moves and offers will be, both Amazon and PayPal will contribute a lot to crypto mass adoption. It's big anyway.

I've already imagined this kind of news since Bezos went to the moon, it could be happening this year or early next year. Hopefully the technology will invite old people who likely use Amazon to purchase goods online and more institutional companies will start accepting Bitcoin.

It was a small English newspaper which brought this rumor to the surface. And it obviously was a hoax. However, Amazon confirmed that they are still working on their own "stable coin" which they will integrate and accept in the upcoming year.

Maybe someone pays the news outlet to manipulate the people who follow bitcoin and they are successful since it cuts the dramatic downfall happen to bitcoins and now the market is in good side. I love to see that bitcoins recovers up and hopefully the next month fud will not bring bitcoim down simce I don't know what figure we can possibly reach up  if in Ghost month we will experience a bad market movements.

This is another good news as Bitcoin adoption is increasing year after year, there has never been a direct means to use Bitcoin as payment on Amazon, but there will be changes even before the end of the year. Amazon is already planning to add Bitcoin to its payment method, it was said that the directive is coming from the Amazon president, Jeff Bazos.

“This isn’t just going through the motions to set up cryptocurrency payment solutions at some point in the future – this is a full-on, well-discussed, integral part of the future mechanism of how Amazon will work,” she told City AM.

“It begins with Bitcoin – this is the key first stage of this crypto project, and the directive is coming from the very top… Jeff Bezos himself.”

The insider also explained that directors of the world’s fourth largest company were keen to move towards ticking off other big cryptocurrencies once it had established a fast and secure method of Bitcoin payment.

Bitcoin adoption is certainly a good thing in the cryptocurrency community. Hence, this kind of news is a breath of fresh air. I already read several posts regarding bitcoin adoption as one of the modes of payment by Amazon later this year and it's really exciting to see what the market would be after this becomes official. I think bitcoin's price will be positively affected if ever there will be more investors that will be encouraged to invest more and enter crypto the moment the official release of bitcoin as a MOP in Amazon took place.

Bitcoin users will definitely be glad as well because this will benefit our community. The more investors there will be, the more our community will be at advantage. This will also serve as great news to the bitcoin users that want to transat using their btc in online shopping. This way, they have an alternative if ever they ran out of cash in their e-wallets or bank accounts.

Even if Amazon accept bitcoin payment, it doesnt mean the rest of the world will eventually purchase bitcoin just to use it to pay their amazon's shopping cart. You could always use cash to pay so why bother with using bitcoin to pay your cart

It's certainly possible that some people don't like using credit cards and are uncomfortable with banks knowing all about their spending habits. This is probably one of the reasons cash is still so popular.
Btw, stealing money from someone's credit card online is a lot easier than through crypto, but that's a different story.

count me on that, i hate using credit cards . I use that in time years ago but after experiencing hacking ? i submit back my credit card and never tried using since then.

and know what? this  helps me become more reliable person because i need not to have credit at a time and  make a budgeting out of my funds available.

Hope that amazon will really consider this finally because i can't wait to make my first purchase using my precious bitcoin.

It still doesnt mean after Amazon implemented bitcoin in their payment system, someone would be purchasing bitcoin just to checkout their cart. Its far easier to use amazon gift card rather than bitcoin if you are uncomfortable with using your credit cards for some reason. Well the market reacted those news in a positive way although its kinda looks like a short squeeze to me

Well, their statement includes that they are still working on introducing a stable coin by next year.

I honestly have no clue on why they need to create this. They can simply go with point system type of payment or some sort which is far easier comparing to create another 'stable coin' just to be used on Amazon

Well, their statement includes that they are still working on introducing a stable coin by next year. I think that's what they mean by support for cryptocurrencies. They will not support Bitcoin directly, if only for regulatory reasons. That's why they are focusing on their own stable coin which will certainly be regulated and therefore accepted without any problems. However, this stable coin will have nothing in common with the advantages of Bitcoin.

This news was quickly responded by Bitcoin investors and their holders. Immediately seeing the price of Bitcoin go up is quite extraordinary. so this is the so-called impact that often occurs when the issue of Bitcoin is pulled to the surface and makes it a reference to increase the price in a short time? at least after the statement from Amazon.
Then, if this has happened, is there any news about Master Card having the same plan, namely adopting Bitcoin in the near future?

Positive rumors continue to come and make the market move positively, now the price of bitcoin is around $39800 and I'm sure tomorrow the price will be more than $40k, if Master Card accepts bitcoin then we can be sure the price of bitcoin will continue to skyrocket, the most important point for us is just hold so we can get big profit soon.

Yeah, was officially denied by an company spokesperson:

Quote
Bitcoin fell below $37,000 after briefly surpassing $40,000 following Amazon.com Inc.’s denial that its job posting for a digital currency executive meant that it will accept the token for payments this year.

or,
Quote
Earlier Monday, the job posting from the retail giant seeking an executive to develop the company’s “digital currency and blockchain strategy” had stirred questions among analysts over whether the move could eventually lead to Amazon accepting Bitcoin as a method of payment. Shortly before 4 p.m. in New York, an Amazon spokesperson’s denial that the company will accept the token for payments this year caused its price to plunge to $37,598.
Source: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-07-26/bitcoin-surges-toward-40-000-level-extending-recent-recovery

It is creepy that certain announcements are so collateral in the price of bitcoin, but even more so in the incorrect analysis of a press release or a job, now the price although it had a $ 37,000 drop today is priced at $ 40,000 according to CMC .

Check the exchange rates now. Once again they are they crossed the $40,000 level, although currently BTC is trading at around $39,700 per coin. From this, it is clear that market has taken the statement from Amazon in a positive manner. And that should be the case, because along with denying the timeline given in the CityAM article, Amazon reiterated that they remain interested in cryptocurrency. And in the end, it will be like PayPal. When they start accepting Bitcoin, there will be no prior warnings. It will happen all of a sudden.

I just came across a post in another thread who found it the article is probably fake. All the things you mention here rather confirm that Amazon hasn't specifically planned to announce any plans nor have they finally decided to accept Bitcoin by the end of the year. They might have some plans in the pipeline, but nothing that should or could be leaked to the public as far as I know.

I don't know anything about City A.M. and have never heard of them before now.  Is this story being reported on any other sites (like more established ones)?  The bottom line is that I'll believe it when I see it, because I've been hearing about Amazon accepting bitcoin for years now, and it just never seems to happen.
It is a London free newspaper mostly targeting the guys at Canary and The City. It contains a mixture of economic and local companies news and is reasonably credible. I am not sure about this news precisely, but my take is that a maybe is not really a news is just a maybe... The problem is that many serious outlets are starting to provide the maybe news because they work wonderfully for the click baiting business. Anyway, let´s hope that in this case they got it right.

I don't buy these rumors, no matter how much I like that finally we're seeing the market moving in the right direction after weeks of going down despite nothing really bad happening, but I don't trust it, and for a lot of reasons:

- the newspaper has a crypto section, if you click on daily crypto it redirects you here:
https://www.cityam.com/profile/crypto-am-daily-in-association-with-luno/ , you can see in the link the name and on the page the fact that all thumbnails are ads for luno, so if this isn't at least lobby then I don't know what it is
- second, if you google the site"cityam.com" for amazon insider there are zero other news, so how did they managed to get this scoop when in the other 7 years of activity they haven't scored one?
- the crypto choice, BTC, ETH and ....bitcoin cash, and Cardano? Hmm, that's a weird move, why would they choose Cardano and cash and not others that are more used, Paypal went for LTC, not those. But not only do that plan on accepting those but they also will develop their own token. Common, what's this you're playing the trifecta here? This ain't Ascot!
- we had Paypal accepting bitcoin, we were almost caught by surprise, nobody heard the rumors nobody knew the coins. Same for Tesla, they bought coins, they implemented the payment gateway for buying cars yet nobody knew a word till the February filings!
- they posted a job ad. So it means they don't have all the personal, they are building the team, and that means only a few people know about the true plans, there is no team, there is no development another way they wouldn't straight go hiring! So, why would a higher-up risk his job to tell some rumors to a newspaper in the UK when it's so easy to find out who was the one leaking info?
- after the FB failure, why would Amazon even try this approach, normally you would let others break their necks in this rather than take all the risk for yourself and ending up in the crosshair of every politician, especially now with all the talks about taxation, wages, more taxation!

That being said, I almost pray for this to still have some truth behind it because if it turns out to be just fake manipulation we're going to see a lot of negative comments. I just read a piece on ****** in Gizmodo that raised my blood pressure well above what's healthy in this heat. So although I give it like 1-5% chances of being actual really I'm really praying more than ever for for a July Santa!

If true, then this is excellent news for all BTC holders.

Hopefully, they actually follow through with the actions and not just go through the motions. I would also hope that they are not using a custodial model with a third party integration - but rather developing their proprietary technology to accept BTC.

All in all, this is a much more genuine attempt at integrating BTC than Tesla by the sounds of it. A lot less speculative for sure.

They have to replace their tokens by centralizing bitcoin but it will take a long time for bitcoin to be centralized. While amazon has accepted bitcoin money this year the focus has been on enabling people to buy digital currencies in this campaign exchanges see the creation of a variety of infrastructure including controlled uncontrolled centralized or decentralized desks and other liquidity providers. Increasing people’s ability to buy cryptocurrencies is essential although there is a bias towards individuals who want to transfer a percentage of their assets to new assets.

^^^ I mostly agree with stompix. It will be interesting to see how much risk Amazon is willing to take, after they have witnessed the debacle from Facebook. That said, whatever happened with the LibraCoin of Facebook was partly due to their own arrogance and overconfidence. Personally, I am not much worried, because the intention behind Libra was to replace Bitcoin with their centralized token (similar to China trying to replace BTC with eCNY now). I just hope that Amazon doesn't make the same mistake that was done by FB. Coming up with their own token is not viable in the near term (in case all these rumors are true).

amazon sees huge potential in Bitcoin. amazon is the largest ecommerce in the world and for sure this will take Bitcoin to a high bull. just waiting for ebay and alibaba to accept Bitcoin then we will see Bitcoin pass $200k.
Good things are still coming though and hopefully not just amazon but all those big stores and companies should start looking forward to accept bitcoin too. In this way, not just a high bull run will definitely happen in the next months but adoption for crypto as its bound to coexist with fiat will now be very possible in the nearest time. Once amazon will finalize their decision and come up with acceptance of bitcoin, then we can expect that this market will suddenly turn into bullish one.

This is an amazing piece of news. Amazon is the largest online retail shop and its adoption and acceptance of bitcoin as a means of exchange would go a very long way in the adoption of bitcoin in the mainstream world.
You should know that one of the limiting factor of the adoption process is the fact that bitcoin can't be spent on items used on a day to day basis. However, this development has brought an end to this claim as every bitcoin user can now spend their coins.
But the problem of buying low cost items with the help of bitcoin remains there. What would a person who want to buy a low cost items off of Amazon and wants to pay with bitcoin would do as everyone know the transaction involved here are drastically high as compared to the price of item that they want to purchase off Amazon. The best bet would be to load your Bitcoins in an Amazon wallet and spend bit by bit there, sending Bitcoins every time when we transact off Amazon would be a painful situation.
thats a nice idea to load your shopping account at one time to save fees . the only downside with this is we arent in full control of our funds but i guess there nothing to worry becuase amazon is a reputable company  .
i think they can refund our money if ever theres a problem and we lost our funds iside their site . @goldade btc can be spent in almost any items .
i think what you mean is its hard to use btc daily due to its fees ? well thats up to the user and to the network .

The insider also explained that directors of the world’s fourth largest company were keen to move towards ticking off other big cryptocurrencies once it had established a fast and secure method of Bitcoin payment.
amazon sees huge potential in Bitcoin. amazon is the largest ecommerce in the world and for sure this will take Bitcoin to a high bull. just waiting for ebay and alibaba to accept Bitcoin then we will see Bitcoin pass $200k.

And now we have another information from another insider who saying Amazon will be accept Bitcoin as payment, a good time to buy and stack bitcoin before it to the moon maybe.

You will be burnt someday if you rely on speculative information like this. So far the leaked information was Amazon preparing to accept bitcoin payment but there is no guarantee that Amazon is going to invest in bitcoin just like Tesla. Even if Jeff Bezos decided to invest in bitcoin, he probably will do it without letting the whole world know about it.

We are talking about a real CEO here that knows what to do and not Elon Musk that will tweet anything to get the world's attention on him.

Amazon is the largest online retail shop and its adoption and acceptance of bitcoin as a means of exchange would go a very long way in the adoption of bitcoin in the mainstream world.

Even if Amazon accept bitcoin payment, it doesnt mean the rest of the world will eventually purchase bitcoin just to use it to pay their amazon's shopping cart. You could always use cash to pay so why bother with using bitcoin to pay your cart

The inevitability of bitcoin  as an investment and medium of payment is very visible such that, it’s only those that some reasons just hate on its progress, government, individuals and corporate organisations inclusive that have refused to admit it for the many goods it could be used for. You can imagine Tesla coming back to accept bitcoin for a medium of payment! I'm not surprised at all, it was just inevitable that they should becuase, them not accepting is them loosing out. I begin to wonder, if bitcoin mining is now focused on renewable source of energy.
It's a very good news that Amazon has stepped into the seen, in due time, others would join too and it would be no surprise. The more reason why, bitcoin investors don't have to take the fud being spread around too serious.

Just imagine how much progress and influence it can give to bitcoin if ever this is real and this would take place. There are millions of people who uses Amazon and patronize it and also it is one of the top five biggest company so just see how it would impact to bitcoin's current value and reputation. Just imagine how much trust has been given to bitcoin and for sure, lots of huge companies and organizations would follow through and will also include bitcoin as a mode of payment. It is a breakthrough for bitcoin and let us hope it would work properly so that bitcoin would be publicized even more.

There has been no official statement from Amazon regarding this. The media has quoted "anonymous" sources. What if the intention is to pump the prices for a limited duration, so that the whales can sell their coins at a profit? Let's not forget what happened with the Tesla adoption. Elon Musk made a few tweets, and the exchange rates rocketed to $62,000. And then he made the U-turn and the prices fell by more than 50%. So this time, I would be more cautious. Keep a close eye on the trade volumes. It will tell whether any manipulation is going on or not.
That could be a possibility, for all we know they've had staked already and they just want to hype that they are buying or integrating so as to help increase the prices and making people get to buying believing the price will increase resulting in a rug pull. For me, I just wait for it to really happen and become official.

Wow! This is most certainly a big news indeed, Amazon is a giant online store with millions of subscribers all over the world, btc lovers will be thrilled with this very important piece of information, the ability to be able to use btc to shop in one of the biggest online store in the world would be a great advancement,  am also happy to hear this because I know directly or indirectly this will affect the price of btc in the long run, let the good news keeps rolling in.  Smiley

Definitely this is big news for bitcoin.

Imagine, millions of people have been using Amazon for online shopping and the fact that it now provides an alternative payment using BTC implies that more and more businesses have been seeing its potential for the future. This could actually affect the price of BTC to the point that it may increase in the next few weeks/months depending on the date of its implementation.

Nevertheless, even here in the Philippines, more and more online shopping websites have accepted BTC as a form of payment due to its convenience. Slowly but surely, the domination of cryptocurrencies would take over in the far future.

I  also search that  information but no official  news coming to Amazon so maybe this  is just another hype they want to implement and eventhough this is good sight to see since we might gonna see  bitcoin pump up after this huge price decrease happen unto it. Maybe its  good not to buy those news spread but  monitor them closely since if they release certain news like this provably we can see  bitcoin rise up or it can possibly reach another  new ATH to bitcoins.

Well, I hope the demand for bitcoins as a payment option, will be higher than the hoarders selling coins to buy sh1t on Amazon. It will be good if Amazon could offer some kind of promotional incentive, like a 10% discount for people paying with Bitcoin at the start of the implementation.. so that people will have a reason to use it.  Wink

Also, if Amazon is going to do this through a Payment processor .... then it will have zero impact.. because Payment processors simply convert all payments into Fiat.  Roll Eyes

I just hope that this is not another billionaire's personal playground that Jeff is trying to pull out like Elon. Tho if I am wrong I think their reason and timing are good as crypto is now widely accepted and this should probably boast more of their income as more crypto users will be interested in purchasing items from them. The thing is when I'm correct we now added another whale in the circulation who is trying to play the game ( those who can't ride the wave will surely drown)

I hope that the option of Bitcoin payment will be available for purchases on Amazon from any country. Hope it wont be like with PayPal, when you can buy Bitcoin only if you are in US. But, I think that it will be like that. Or such option will be available only for limited countries. (Same refers to buying Tesla).
Great news from Amazon, but more detailed information is needed. Because right now it partly looks like a clickbait, as all this info is from insider.
Now that you've mentioned it, I hope that Amazon will be available in my country because I spend too much in third party freights to deliver it to my country, what's the point of being global if it doesn't reach me right? I hope that it's not a clickbait because I feel like we only get a sneak peek of things.

Great news indeed. But there is still some time until the end of the year. Who knows if there won't be another rollback as regulators target the new payment option. I recently started a thread here after Twitch (a company owned by Amazon) ended Bitcoin and crypto payments overnight without notice. So far there has been no official reason given.
Also, until now you could already indirectly purchase from Amazon with Bitcoin, just by buying Amazon vouchers with Bitcoin.

I wouldn't get too pessimistic if it starts out that way either. Many times allowing it in a country is the first step. If it is allowed in the USA it will be very bullish and the normal thing is that little by little it will be implemented for most countries in the world. Think that different countries have different legislation and may have a different process, with different permissions from the authorities, to be able to offer the purchase with Bitcoin.

In the face of a large amount of information, we should treat every news rationally and objectively, and keep the truth from the false. I only believe in the bright future of Bitcoin. I am willing to exchange time for the development of Bitcoin. I will insist.
Yeah, it is better if we get the most precise and accurate news, so that it does not cause many hoaxes that can affect the interest of some people in their assessment of bitcoin. Well basically bitcoin will be on the rise in popularity because it has the potential to embrace the future in terms of finance and various other things that can be done in transactions or making profits in investments, also many other projects in terms of cryptocurrency.
if the news is really accurate, I think it will be an advantage for bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to be able to develop together. as long as it's not like yesterday's Elon who doesn't seem to think about crypto growth, but only cares about himself

Why Amazon Does Not Accept Bitcoin
There's no directly cited reason by Amazon, but plenty of speculation exists.

Volatility, Regulation
The price of bitcoin is more volatile than the price of many other government currencies accepted by Amazon, so there could be some challenges in pricing products. The uncertainty about future cryptocurrency regulation might also be keeping Amazon at bay, as might the difficulty processing returns considering Bitcoin's wild price fluctuations.

Current Agreements
It is possible that Amazon already has great deals in place with major credit card companies, such as Visa (V) and other payment processors. Smaller online retailers don't get such favorable conditions, which creates a competitive advantage for Amazon.

Bezos
One speculative theory is that Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is not a fan of Bitcoin, possibly because he is opposed to the unregulated and anonymous nature of the technology. This theory gained some traction after the Washington Post, a newspaper that Bezos owns, published a particularly critical article in January 2016 entitled, "R.I.P., Bitcoin. It's time to move on." However, this theory is purely speculative.2

Digital Currency Rival
Another theory is that Amazon would like to eventually roll out its own digital currency. If that were the case, Amazon would likely avoid lending credibility to bitcoin, or open up its huge market to a competitor. Amazon already launched Amazon Coins in 2013 for games, apps, and in-app purchases

Hmm, It's definitely big news, comparatively much more effective compared to when Tesla announced they accepted Bitcoin, after all, A lot of people use Amazon since they are an online retailer, compared to Tesla, but I don't think the effects would be as big as when Tesla accepted Bitcoin. It's kind of like the advantage of the first ones? The reaction would relatively be stale compared to back then, but there would still be a positive reaction no doubt about that.

I can't say the same for their native token though.

If Amazon accepts Bitcoin as a payment method, it will definitely help bring the entire cryptocurrency into the mainstream.
Bitcoin is one of the unstable currencies.
Amazon exists or may exist in many countries/regions with unstable currencies. In the United States, the U.S. dollar is relatively favorable for daily transactions, and people will invest in Bitcoin for investment or ideological reasons. In countries where currencies are unstable or credit/banking systems charge high fees, people using Bitcoin to buy foreign goods may have a great advantage.

I know CityAM, I already follow them.  They are London based, that being the 'city'   This is bullish news longer term, raises utility and monetary velocity so value I presume.   Its already possible indirectly though I was tied to one specific franchise of Amazon and had to import goods because of that and pay postage so being able to skip the gift card and just use BTC would be useful to everyone.
Will Amazon stick with it and stay the course even if price doubles, I presume they can account for that.  The really bullish thing is if Amazon can do that then many other businesses can start to snowball into general usage we hope, whether it works out so smoothly (this year) but certainly speculatively it has to be some positive even right now.

A new position of "digital currency and blockchain product leader" appeared on Amazon's recruitment bulletin board. Since then, people have speculated that Amazon is about to enter the cryptocurrency field. According to the job description, this employee will help formulate Amazon's digital currency strategy and product roadmap. This position requires expertise in blockchain, distributed ledgers, central bank digital currencies and broader cryptocurrencies.

For the time being, we don’t have to consider the authenticity of the London business newspaper CityAM and the real source of information. It has already brought a response to market sentiment. I hope it can be realized and have more ripple effects because of the wider application scenarios of Bitcoin Everyone is looking forward to it.

Amazon may accept Bitcoin payments this year! Bitcoin soared by US$3,000 in the short-term, and it was once close to US$40,000. This is the reaction of the market and what has just happened. This actually represents an expression of attitude, rather than a post on the Bitcoin forum today asking how to judge Bitcoin. When will the price bottom out? I think it's boring. For short-term operators who have no confidence, you can leave.

Well, I don't finally make a conclusion that it could give a huge push on the market price and even to encourages other big establishments to go along with them and adopt the system. It might be a success for crypto of having Amazon's support, it was really great.

Anyways, I'm going to be more positive about this. But if going to happen that they will be making their own coin just for the sake of having a company's signature, I was worried if that be the same as what happens to Facebook and Libra. It might be just a rumor, but who knows, Amazon is one of the biggest and still a growing company and certainly have the capabilities if they want to.

Facebook does many things. Libra was just another but rather than a fail I would say that they did not go ahead probably due to legal and regulatory concerns.
I think it has reasons why Facebook was not given approval to create its own token. Also, Telegram tried to create one but failed. Why would a single platform want to create a centralized token of its own? Why did Facebook not just go for a decentralized coin or token. Or, probably when digital Dollar is created, it can support it, but it would have been better if decentralized coin like bitcoin is Facebook native currency which indicates freedom. I do not know much about the Facebook token, but I remembered Visa, MasterCard and many other payment processing companies backed off in supporting the project when they all knew the Facebook token may be detrimental than helpful, I remembered a well reputed person calling it wolf in sheep's cloth on crypto news last year. It will be a means people will be shifting away from making use of bank to making use of social platform token as a means of payment, I think that is the reason it remained a failed project, but I may not be totally right.

if this news is true then the prediction of Bitcoin will be $100k will be true...

Bitcoin's appeal cannot be denied, many large companies will adopt it. we just have to wait when apple will join the party, it will definitely be one of the hottest news.
There are still great things to happen for bitcoin before this year ends and one of these is that Amazon is ready to accept bitcoin as a payment system. This is not surprising because we will expect great things coming since big instutions came to adopt bitcoin and for this, they tend to follow every now and then.

However, Amazon is a very big company so its effect to the crypto market is definitely a huge one too. With this, if things keep coming positively for bitcoin, then bull run will be very possible reaching its new heights into $100k hopefully.

Why complicate the situation with a token?
I think so exactly, but I do not know why, your idea is great, but many established companies also wish to create their own token which will most likely be the reason.
Given how spectacular of a failure Libra was for Facebook (it did fail, right?),...

Given how spectacular of a failure Libra was for Facebook (it did fail, right?), you'd think that companies wouldn't even be considering launching their proprietary token, even if it's just for a rewards program.  And while Amazon starting to accept bitcoin as payment would be a great thing, I'm not at all excited about them creating some kind of Amazon coin which would no doubt only be limited to use on their site.

I did see a Youtube video pop up in my "related videos" list a few minutes ago which talked about this news, so I'm assuming this Amazon insider did in fact say what the article claimed she did.  Now we'll just have to see if Amazon follow through.

if this news is true then the prediction of Bitcoin will be $100k will be true...
Not necessarily.  People aren't clamoring to spend their bitcoin, even if it's on a site as popular as Amazon, nor would it mean bitcoin is going to explode in price.

I don't know anything about City A.M. and have never heard of them before now.  Is this story being reported on any other sites (like more established ones)?
I originally read the news on Cointelegraph, but it was linked to City A.M

Why complicate the situation with a token?

Bitcoin's appeal cannot be denied, many large companies will adopt it. we just have to wait when apple will join the party, it will definitely be one of the hottest news.

This is certainly good news that will, hopefully, increase Bitcoin adoption.
One thing, though, it would be nice if someone would let Mr. Bazos know in advance that Bitcoin consumes a lot of electricity derived from fossil fuels ... so there won't be any awkward moments later.  Cheesy

Smiley

I don't know anything about City A.M. and have never heard of them before now.  Is this story being reported on any other sites (like more established ones)?  The bottom line is that I'll believe it when I see it, because I've been hearing about Amazon accepting bitcoin for years now, and it just never seems to happen.

That's not to say it wouldn't be a good thing if Amazon did finally start taking crypto for payments, because it would.  It'd be a great thing, in fact.  I'm just weary of all the rumors and speculation I've been reading for a long time now--and I'm skeptical of this article as well.

“When all these crypto ducks are lined up, there’s another twist to push things even further into Amazon’s favour – a native token,” the insider explained.

“This then becomes a multi-level infrastructure where you can pay for goods and services or earn tokens in a loyalty scheme.

It would be so nice if this Amazon insider had a name and didn't have to "leak" this story anonymously (though I'm sure if this actually is coming from an Amazon insider, she was told to leak it).  It gives Amazon too much leeway with their decision, since they can always deny a story like this if they decide they want nothing to do with bitcoin, BCH, ETH, or their own token.

And if they want to implement a loyalty program, Amazon doesn't need its own token to do it with.  Nobody needs one to serve that function.  They could simply have a points system, whereby you earn points worth a certain amount of money toward your next purchase.  Why complicate the situation with a token?

This could be another plus for bitcoin just like PayPal too few months back. It seems like every bull or bear has something to lead the way. This is a cheerful news and is likely to attract new buyers to hodl because of the expectation of increase demand. This 3rd quarter may see the beginning of another bull with this news.

“It begins with Bitcoin – this is the key first stage of this crypto project, and the directive is coming from the very top… Jeff Bezos himself.”

This shows more crypto will be added in the near future, maybe ethereum could.
