My old guitar teacher made a project called M87, basically ambient works based on the concepts of black holes and interstellar objects. It's... interesting but pretty cool, all made with layers of guitar tracks.

Edit2: I'll try and find the album and upload the whole thing to youtube, it's pretty out there. Make sure you listen to this stuff with headphones or on a good sound system, there's a lot going on in the mid and bass spectrum... This guy was a huge black metal fan and although this is totally different, you can here that "wall of noise" influence.
