12.8 seems to do the trick for me.
When installing de-select the option to install the SDK
Then install 2.5 SDK for 5xxx series and 2.7 SDK for 7xxx and 6xxx series

13.4 works fine for BTC, but CGMiner does crash when trying to build the .bin file for scrypt. I only mine BTC, so it doesn't bother me. Wink

Same thing happened on my windows partition, then when I tried to revert back to 13.1 I get a BSOD everytime I boot, I even ran driver sweeper and some other utility released by AMD that supposedly would fix the problem. Guess I'll just switch with using linux to mine even though I get about 200khash/s less when I use it. Sad

I thought 5xxx and 6xxx GPU's needed pre 2.6 SDK?
Oh, is that the case?

How could one figure out what SDK is preloaded into the 12.8 Catalyst Driver? 12.8 runs great mining LTC on all of my rigs with 5830s on them.

I don't know what shipped with Catalyst 2.8.

But I use Catalyst 12.1 with my 5xxx GPU's and had to do a selective/advanced install to NOT install the 2.6 SDK that shipped with it and then I installed the 2.5 SDK manually.  That has been working stable for over a year now.

Uninstalled everything, and just installed the 12.8 Driver since it has the SDK already in it. My guess is that the 13.4 driver and 2.8 SDK aren't compatible with each other and/or doesn't work with 6850s.

1.  Uninstall the AMD APP SDK only
2.  Delete the files titled amdocl.dll and OpenCL.dll from the folders System32 and SysWOW64 located in the Windows folder.  You will have to delete the same files once from each folder location.
3.  Reinstall SDK
4.  Delete the .bin files from your miner
5.  Start your miner.  It should work.  If it doesn't, you did something wrong.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask.
Failed to installed the SDk properly. Will I need to uninstall 13.4 as well? Then delete the files, install the SDK, then the 13.4 driver?

I updated to the 13.4 driver, because a game needed it. However GUIminer stopped working not. Some sort of Hardware verification failure. I tried the new CGminer 3.2.0, and it just crashes. I uninstalled all AMD software/drivers, and used AMD's Cleanup Utility to make sure nothing was left behind. Installed 13.4 from scratch, and still having trouble. Tried downloading and installing the APP SDK 2.8, but I still have issues.

Has anyone had luck with the newest drivers? And I think the 13.4 Catalyst Software Suite already comes with the SDK/OpenCL, so this should have been pretty simple right? http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonaiw_win8-64.aspx
