Yes sgminer in linux has the exact same issue.

Aren't Vega going to be similar price to 1070s though and with, I presume, a higher power draw?

Vega could be affected. My R9 nano will reduce the speed quite a lot.

Actually I do not understand all this hope in the new VEGA architecture. The first benchmark showed 300W power usage and doubt they will do 60Mhash con ETH, which is less that what you can get using current AMD cards

So if you don't understand then that makes me much smarter than you, okay, first polaris is done for right, hashrate is decreasing, amd even claymore or other people dont know if they can fix that, second Vega is a new arch which means problems like we see on polaris might not affect Vega, Vega will have gddr5 versions, will not be only hbm2 versions which mean, Vega is the only thing to make a case and compete x nvidia 1070 concerning miners, they will probably place it around gtx 1070 price, that is a reason amd will not fix polaris, because amd want miners and gamers to make their vega arc a success.

Remember, after polaris is done which will be in 3 or 4 months then to match or surpass the gtx 1070 in hashrate will only be a Vega + gddr5.

Concerning power consumption, performance/power, lower vega models with gddr5 might not use that much power.
lol amd wont using gddr5 on their vega, only hbm, they architect only design for hbm, vega with same count core with fury line, which 60% faster coreclock and 100% faster memoryclock than fury, vega is the beast for next 2years from now
i think amd design vega for zcash, eth will switch to pos , nobody post zcash benchmark lol

Sgminer in linux does not have the problem. Besides that the whole difficulty bomb will make mining eth useless for all cards. POS is around the corner. Even Vega is useless

So why even care about the subject

No matter how many they put out, there's always people buying or reselling higher. Nvidia is overpriced as you said but still available.

I think the only ones buying rx 580 are uninformed miners or gamers now, smart people are waiting for Vega, they think Vega will save them hehe

Or whe must mining other altcoins.. like UBQ, ETC, EXP...

Are there smart guys who can plot hash rate drop on the graph, curious to see it

This issue is really a concerning, i see that nobody is buying rx 580, the rx 570 is hard to see around but rx 580 there are plenty available and I hear there will be a huge stock coming in of rx 580 everywhere, buying gtx 1070 at exorbitant prices is still the best alternative.
What? The 580 sure is available but at ridiculous prices, and the uninformed newbies watching YouTube sure are buying em. What will happen is going to be the same thing that happens when restocks come in:

1) Bots buy all they can
2) Miners use the GPUs or resell at ridiculous prices

No matter how many they put out, there's always people buying or reselling higher. Nvidia is overpriced as you said but still available.

in one of bits be trippin's videos, he mentions that sgminer in linux would not be effected by this hashrate drop issue for amd cards

amd card's will be extremely hard to find. But at this point not even worth it. Nvidia is killin it.. I love all of mine. 1070's were the best choice you couldve made comparatively to any other card for the price..

If you live near a Microcenter they've been getting 1070's back in stock over the past couple of days, ive noticed stock slowly coming back for particular cards.

Yeah i searched for 3 days and eventually found cheap rx 480s and 580 available but instead went with the GTX1070s because of this issue.
It meant that my rig cost me 30% more though. I hope AMD sort a fix out because I'd love to buy those cheap RX cards..... Although I bet they are long gone

Switch to NVIDIA would be somehow hard, like the RX4xx/5xx cards the most popular NVIDIA cards are everywhere out of stock or heavily overpriced (25% or even more over regular price).

I've heard of talk about drivers coming out to hopefully adapt to upcoming epoch..can't say for sure. My amd cards collectively lost 1mh/s per card from july 30th-today. I'll sell my cards.. when hell freezes

Whats the popular opinion on the AMD hash rate decline?
Are miners going to be selling off their AMD cards in droves in a month or two and switching to NVIDIA?
Or will it turn out that the Epoch benchmark is a glitch easily fixed by a new set of drivers?
