download smos and plug it in.  Windows has too many bs critical updates even if your stuff is off.

It's pretty easy to switch off any and all updates within Windows... at least with Windows 10 Pro.

I have a 6 rx470 4G , each time i try to install the dag fix drivers after installing succesfully when i run the miner it crashes while intializing opencl , any help with that?

Is this a dedicated mining rig? If so you can try running Windows 10 and not even activating it and it should work (or just buy a $15 key and have it activated).

Agreed. It's much better to simply get Windows 10 first. There are already a lot of available options online if you ever decide to do so, free or paid versions. You will save yourself the headaches as most of the mining guides and tutorials online are for Windows 10 anyway.

Also, Windows 7 has a limit to the number of GPUs you can have.

Use latest AMD drivers and switch on compute mod. It is possible to do in the miner itself. In Claymore miner it is enough to add option "-y 1" in your BAT file. In Phoenix Miner you have to add "-acm" in your BAT file.

are you set compute mod in settings?
The set compute option is not in the settings i searched for it can't find in the global settings in gaming in radeon settings , i changed between
2 drivers 17.10.2 and 18.  , can't find it anywhere

Are you using Windows 7 or Windows 10?
I also couldn't see Compute option on Windows 7.

If you are using Claymore miner you can try this:
-y   enables Compute Mode and disables CrossFire for AMD cards. "-y 1" works as pressing "y" key when miner starts. This option works in Windows only.

It should enable Compute mode with miner.
I am using win7 , i tried to add -y 1 in the miner it asks fot admin rights when i run it with admin rights it crashs at startup

Quoted post is right. You need to open "Radeon Settings" then select your GPU settings then toggle "Compute Mode" on. If you don't want to do this setting configuration you can also opt to use the "Aug.23 blockchain drivers."

Although over and above that, you should also BIOS mod your GPU and overclock it.

I had the same problem on windows 7 with dag fix drivers.
I switched to win10 and installed 18.3.4 driver and everything runs stable for weeks.
Have you tried newer version of drivers?
